I am sorry that I did not explain the symbols enough. It is always a challenge to strike a balance between going into detail and keeping the overall time down. And yeah, I do sometimes struggle with rows vs columns if I don't stop and think carefully about it. I know I corrected it with text at least some of the time in the video, but I probably missed some of those misspeaks.

There are not extra boards and cubes unlocked later, but there are stickers you will add on your board that will add extra scoring opportunities. And, just like in My Island, you will unlock new ways to score every 3 games. I have found it worthwhile owning and playing both games.

I tend to forget my trigger abilities quite frequently... I think it's why I do better playing the app than in person... it remembers for me.

Yeah, I hadn't done a good job of building my deck for the scaling. I do better with the other characters. Watcher can be a bit complex to do well... though from what I hear can be super powerful when you do build her deck well and properly utilize her stance dance.

It is quite fun, and there are enough differences between the board game and the video game to make it worthwhile to have and play both versions.

I also recorded a playthrough with the Silent, but it is going to take me some time to get edited and posted (probably close to the end of September). I recorded them all back to back and it is just a matter of editing and posting (in addition to others I have recorded as well).

Thanks for watching. Marsbot does gets 3 project cards + 1 bonus card, and then +3 project cards with Preludes. Section 3 under set-up: "Build Marsbot's action deck (4 cards): Instead of a starting hand of 10 cards, deal Marsbot 3 project cards facedown next to the Marsbot bonus deck."

I do cut down time out. I typically try not to cut things where the board state changes, but I must have missed that in editing... or if all that happened was resetting the time piece and there was a lot of down time for some reason, then maybe decided it wasn't worth the hassle to capture. Not sure if I remembered to buy a card before resetting, but I doubt I wouldn't have ensured that got through in the edit, so odds are I totally did not buy any cards there between cuts. If I did not edit my videos, they would often be at least 25% longer and sometimes even longer from the down time... and that is time where I am mostly just thinking/ planning... so pretty boring stuff.

We have several 2 player games that the wife and I enjoy playing. I want to do a series of reviews for several 2 player games at some point.

I really like Under Falling Skies for the puzzle you have to solve of how to place the dice where the benefit you well while not doing something too bad for how they move the Alien ships down... plus the push and pull between advancing the research track vs focusing on shooting down aliens (requires balance). I hope you are able to enjoy solo gaming in lieu of TV time, but I do understand the preference for gaming with others.

Whenever a victim dies, bloodlust goes up (unless a card specifically says otherwise). It does not matter if it is the killer, an event, or even the final girl.

It really depends on the game. Some games I do find the AI too easy and so after a few plays I feel like I have had enough of that particular game as a solo game. The ones I find to be a challenge I will play over and over again. I also like that some AI opponents have different difficulty levels so as you get better you can raise the challenge, or you can find the difficulty level that is best for you... which can also be tailored to how challenging you want it (one where you usually win but sometimes lose/ where you usually lose and so it is extra satisfying when you win/ about 50-50). I much prefer games with AI opponents over games that are just beat your own score or beat your own score with an AI that simply gets in your way. And if I can find the right difficulty level where it feels I could win or lose any game (about 50-50) then that is my preference... but I will take slightly easier or more difficult to win.

I'm sorry to hear that. My wife and I were introduced to modern board games at the same time by a friend, and we both enjoyed them. At least there is solo gaming these days.

Thanks. It's also interesting that solo video games no one bats an eye over, but solo board games seem weird to some. As I said in the Facebook thread (and originally meant to say in this video but forgot), I grew up in an era where most board games did not have a solo mode and would have to play 2 handed Yahtzee or other games without too much secret info when others were not available to play, and I would have loved to have had the solo modes we have today.

Definitely benefits of playing solo.

Yes I have heard about Frank's new game and am excited for it. Also curious to hear how the "card dancing" mechanism works. I hope to do a playthrough of Harvest in early September.

The mini-european cards that are used in attack modifier decks get shuffled a lot, and I find they crease easily with all of the shuffling (because of how small they are). I just recommend sleeving them from the getgo. And what I did was just sleeve the cards being used at the time and when adding new cards to the modifier decks sleeve those and unsleeve the ones no longer in use.

Yes, the horror goes up twice EVERY killer phase where there is only one Mutated Organism in play. From A.J. himself: "Yes it is every killer phase. One time effects will say "when revealed"

Mike DeLisio showcasing the solo mode in a playthrough is a big part of what got me excited about this game in the first place, and it most certainly did not dissapoint as a solo game! I hope to do a solo playthrough soon (probably early September).

You did it correctly later in the game, you must have just missed it the first time.

I went ahead and just got the deluxe version of Slay the Spire after a few days of hesitation. The price was steep, but I wanted it.

Thanks. I have an arm that I connect to a tripod that extends over the play area. I am not sure if I will get around to doing a walkthrough for 2nd edition any time soon. A lot of the core gameplay is the same just with different rules for ranged attacks (including friendly fire), search rules, spawn rules being a little different, and of course with the powers and devouring not being there. It probably would not be too hard to read up on the differences and implement them when you have a solid grasp of how the Marvel versions work.

That is a huge part of the luck mitigation, and from what I've seen a lot of people who even know it exists ignore it too often or don't set themselves up to be able to use it (by playing cards with less than 2 cards left too often or when success is vital).

It's fun and challenging as the time frame to accomplish the goals is very tight.

Yes, you must choose to sub in a ruler before you begin a round (conversation), so you should try to evaluate which rulers might be handy for the upcoming round... keeping in mind that if you don't wind up using the ruler, it will be wasted.

I have not played Mage Knight, and currently with so many campaign games and scenario based games that I am working through, I don't currently feel the pull to get this and add it.

I have not played the others. I only recently pulled the trigger on getting the base game. Too Many Bones does look interesting though. And as for the dice rolls, rolling lots of purple helps with that, but I guess even with my lower probability dice I got lucky some... and ironically rolled too many hits on my yellow dice the time I didn't want hits (lol).

The other versions of 20 Strong may feel less samey (idk as I have not tried them). I still have not tried playing with more missions with the higher difficulty level yet (4 missions at once is the most I have done so far). I am still hoping that having more mission to focus on will help some.

Yeah, I don't make use of Planning a lot either (very situational), but Improvise is a large part of my big attack turns and sometimes other situations where I want to get a lot done.

Thanks! I grew up playing Spades and Euchre, so I have taken to this game like a fish to water. The scenarios definitely start getting difficult as early as the second season (fall I think).

I have not played Akropolis, but from watching a video on it, it does not look too similar in how it plays.

There are incredible videos that address all combos of maps and bad guys that absolutely rock
