Nice vid, thx a lot. As an 8th Edi Vet yourself, you surely know the danger of "mixing the rules" or the thinking of "wasn´t there something?" Dam little voices. ^^ I´ve this one with chars in an unit. An Example: 20 dwarven warriors with full command, a Thain on Shield Bearers (50/50mm) and a BSB on foot. All have the "same" base size, the Thain ins put into the front rank in a 5 wide formation, the command group either. The BSB is put in the rear. I can´t find (and I think im stuck in 8th Edi here) any clue that he CAN´T put his "Hold your ground" and +1 Combat Result to use. Am I right?

Qhen trying to work out when a unit should wheel to determine maximun models for combat, I simply measure the with of the charging unit with a thumb and finger then while holding my hand in that position I place my fingers so the defending unit is as central as possible, then trace my hand backward until the side of the width ive finger measured intersects the same side of the charging unit, that intersection is the wheeling point 🙂

Hi Russ, another great show buddy. I have a question though, what is the point of having First Charge on the Gigantic Chaos Spawn? It has Random Movement so does not declare a charge and therefore gains no benefit for First Charge.

The no ward saves on the dragon doesnt need to be FAQ it says "other models" so we're good there. Also ALL SPELLS and ALL magical items are considered to have the "Magical Attacks" special rule. So the ward saves the dragons get and that Talisman Of the Soaring Eagle that gives a ward against Magical Attacks is useful against EVERY spell that causes wounds. So even if you aren't keeping track of every thing an opponent has that has Magical Attacks, you can know FOR SURE that you have a ward against wounds caused by ANY spell and ANY magical item.

I got some old Chaos Dwarves I got from someone quite some time ago, I had hoped I could use some of them as a mercenary gun line to supplement having no shooting phase otherwise.

Thanks for great preview. Preordering dragon, giant spawn, skin wolves and some more dragon ogres. Very interesting that the spawn can be used in beastmen army. I like that a lot. I dont have marauders so the ability to use gors and ungors in the maurader list gives me some army building option with my current collection. This release was a big win for my hobby and a big thermonuclear explosion for my budget!

Chosen chariots have counter charge as well. But overall, compared to how good every other arcane journal has been, this seems really pretty pathetic. Only the warpfire dragon is any good.

If I’m running a tzeentch list and want to have 4 different caster characters can I have them in one squad of chaos chosen knights if they’re just in one long rank? Trying to see if I can make the skull of katam build work with essentially a gun line of sorcerers, some hell cannons and either marauder horsemen or lines of chaos infantry. To justify the skulls point cost I feel like you need to have 4 casters 3 of which are level 2. In a squad marked by the blessing of tzeentch they’d cast most things at a 4+ roll with 2D6’s. That with spell familiars to be able to have a total of 14 spells you can cast each turn. With a hell cannon on the field you’d force more defensive armies to come forward for a bit more of an honest fight where you can fly in your blobs of infantry, debuff large amounts of units whilst significantly bolstering your own men with buffs. You are spending 1000 points on characters with no melee lord is the biggest issue I see with the list. If you was going ridiculously competitive im sure you’d fit a chaos lord on a dragon in there over one of the casters and taking off a few items. Regardless I’d be interested to see how a list like this would play

I'm sure someone else has pointed it out. But the abilty to retire on the damsels lets them cast spells like normal as if they are still on the front rank. This means you can have her completely safe on the inside of a lance formation and when her initiative step comes up in the combat she can blast away with assailment spells. You are basically putting a wizard that can't have attacks directed at it but gets to fight. I am legit thinking of spamming level 2s with battle magic and just putting them in every unit that can hide them. Units of 6 in lance formation are able to have all 6 spots "attack" sure the wizard doesn't get to swing her hand weapon but that means very little.

I don't like any of the armies. Royal clan has not a single fast element. And the miner army has no iron drakes and or iron breaker

do the runic tattoos and the engineers' weapon runes go to the grand army list? are they included in the rune limits? like, "thane can take 75 points of weapon, engineers' weapon, armor and talisman runes" (those runes are also for thanes, as per warhammer community article)

Bonegrinder Giants and Badland Ogres in the O&G Journal are dogs of war aswell.

the goblin hewer makes marchin column a bit less attractive, its a shame that outside of unhrims army you cant get doom seekers without them being mercs which in my book makes them too unreliable.

Thanks for the nice review. Personally I think the journal is a complete design fail because it does not address in any way the many crippling weaknesses of dwarf armies in TOW that make them boring to play and boring to play against.

You have a different copy then mountain miniatures, there is noted the axe of dargo has a strenght S+2 instead of yours reads only 2 !!!

I’ve also lost interest in AoS since old world came out. Just feels like a real war game with actual strategy.

Excellent info as always. I had a challenge dilema come up in a game and haven't found the answer. This is what happened in the game: I charged some knights into a unit with a caster. I issued a challenge with the 1st knight(champion) to take out the caster. The other player refused the challenge and moved to the back rank. Does my champion now just strike the unit as normal? In the heat of the battle I couldn't find the rule that pertained to this situation.

37.00 a wizards on a horse is heavy cav, and there for can not join a unit of light cav if they are skirmishing

Terradons are skirmishers. Can they march 30 inchs? If so would you mind sharing the rules that allow this? Also, is close order a default formation and would you mind sharing more information on formations and how you go in and out of them and who can adopt a certain formation? thanks for all the videos they are very informative.
