The Great Vowel Shift: an introduction
No, humans (at one point or another) were in very small groups, close to extinction. So of course that one single human tribe should have spoken only one language, so yes. There was a single language
Am I the only one who can't stop laughing at the title "Uncleftish Beholding"? XD
Funnily enough, Esperanto is an agglutinative language just like Japanese & unlike any of the Slavic languages.
When I was in Barcelona, I could tell that was a different kind of Spanish.
Saludos desde Brazil :)
So what ever happened to it? did we just decide to stop using it? did it morph into something else?
Gaelic in Lewis has a Norwegian accent.
Do not get the impression that everybody had slaves. Not so at all.
WHAAAT I ACTUALLY SPEAK GERMAN 😱😱😱😱
They persecuted those minority languages because they are "a threat to national unity", which is a euphemism for nationalism... and yet France is considered an example of democracy...
For #5 I assumed you were talking about Esperanto.
Khoisan😂 C'mon guy
The Standard French doesn’t come from Paris, it comes from the Tourraine province in the Loire valley
Whats more logical than that? When it comes to indo European or proto indo European you always come up with a connection, even though there is a slight possibility that even the structure is the same, but a stronger evidence is in ural altaic that whatever vocabulary u use,the structure is the same… so structure prevails vocabulary, the words and people in the region that effected each other or were related come later…
Breton is the only celtic language that have no national recognition. Kind of normal when it's the only celtic language on the continent. In france they are lots of other non Celtic languages that suffer the same destiny. Corsican is a great exemple (and no it's not an italian dialecte, it's older than italian and closer relates to Latin)
Norn legacy lives on in Shetlandic dialect of Scots
All Bulgarians from all corners of Bulgaria understand the language they speak in the geographical region of Macedonia, because they speak Bulgarian language.
Next time look into the lense instead of looking at yourself while recording. Looks like you are looking at my beard while talking to me or something
The British didn't get from the duch but from the Portuguese.
I think you don't pronounce the k in óc
This is not true, the mid -west accent spread all over the USA after the 2nd world war.
Gheg: gjarpën Standard albanian: gjarpër
In what greek? in modern greek, snake is "φίδι"...
I got every single one right except for #5 😅
I wondered why my husband from Missouri says “ warsh, “ which is close to how we say it “ wursh “ in neck of the woods.
Why was Danubian Bulgar considered Indo European, but Volga Bulgar considered Turkic ?
If only Lestat was depicted to speak this and learned Parisian French. Interesting video!
If this man speaks French or learned French, he should well know French has many silent letters, meaning words are spelled with letters that are never pronounced. He has mistakely pronounced (mispronounced) both "d'oïl" and "d'oc." The first one is prounounced like modern-day "oui" of (Parisian) French dialect. Makes sense, no? That's why oui is pronounced this way. The o-ï has morphed into "oui" today, and the "l" is silent. Likewise, the final "c" in "d'oc" is silent. So, it sounds like the English interjection, "Doh!" Now you know.
Dravidians 👇
This is all very confusing because countries like Hungary have had heavy Turkish influence along with the hunnic people taking over their lands. The people who originally rested in hungarys modern land probably were Slavs who were converted to whatever abomination they speak now
Not really, unless you refers roman empire times. It is popular theory huns didn't left the region and vanished after Attila death, and when Hungarians arrived, it was like second homecoming for them.
The Romani word is “sap”
”Norn” literally translates to “witch”
what are your sources for the information you say in this video?
let me guess do you speak any of those languages??? Hmmmm
there’s an interesting short film/video on here that has two people speaking in Polari - it’s really cool!
ahhahha of course latin is a derivation of Sardinian, Sardinia was an empire before roman empire
Zvarranik for reptiles gjarper for snake
Vergleicht doch einfach mal ein paar Blütenformen mit Cern oder die aneinander gereihten Bottiche. Es ist eigentlich einfach, wenn man nicht verkopft ist.
So that's why the naughty moustache man likes England more than the french
Vai Brasil!!!! 🇧🇷❤️🇧🇷❤️
oldest (extensively attested) Germanic language
Fidi is in Greek language for the snake and also oxia Gjarper in Albania maybe changed with time, yeah who knows But to me Albanian has so many similarities with Latin.. is from the oldest languages though..
Japanese is very unrelated to any of those languages.
All of these languages are unrelated except uralic ones
Autumn is used by all countries. US and Canada use fall too, while UK also used harvest. I live in Australia, so we use just autumn, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some call it fall due to expansion of vocab.
See how they avoided Australia? because they're sane people
I'll speak Occitan one day...
"modern day nation of Spain"☠️
Old Bulgarian is Old Church Slavonic 🇧🇬❤️
Langue d'huile 😂
"Didn't have as much influence from Germanic as French" - French is a Romance language that completely overtook the Frankish language and made it go extinct. It seems to me the influence, then, is the other way around.
