Exotic Outdoor Table Build (Concrete & Padauk)
In this video, we are building an outdoor coffee table. The top is concrete, and the base is made of the African wood padauk. This outdoor table is built to hold up to the elements. The wood is extremely resistant to rot due to the oils in it. This coffee table build is a great video to inspire you if you are thinking of building any outdoor furniture and considering using exotic woods.

White Oak Night Stand | Mid Century Modern
มุมมอง 611ปีที่แล้ว
Sign up for the best newsletter for makers here: thewoodletter.m-pages.com/dRAIOC/main-page?nocache In this video, we are going to show you how we built a mid-century modern white oak night stand out of solid white oak. This night stand is made of solid white oak and we joined the wood with dominoes and glue. No hardware is required to build this night stand. There is 3 short screws used, besid...
Great look. What size are the legs, they really add to the look. What was your final top thickness after milling or did you stay at 7/4. I just made a 5/4 white oak top, trying to see what thickness size legs would look best. Do you think those legs would be too big for my 5/4 top. Great work.
Beautiful. How do you account for the wood movement of the top?
That table is awesome! Definitely my favorite build that you guys have done so far
Thanks! Ours Too
Where did you get that wood?
Peterman Lumber in Fontana CA
I wonder if we could get that wood in flooring 🤔😊
I think its too splintery for flooring
What could we have done better?
Exactly the inspiration I was looking for to mimic the Thuma nightstand.
Great! Glad you like it!
Great videos, keep it up!
you sealed the underside , your the first one out of all the vids i have seen to do that, I think that is the right way,and have done it myself
Maybe it’s just being OCD, but I like finishing every side of our pieces
Dominos are the way to go unless you have apprenticed under a Japanese joiner
Nice 👍!
Great video. Juts one question. Attaching the top to the base via the structural screws- did you elongate the holes to allow for wood movment?
Thanks, the holes were slightly larger than the screws but I’m considering switching them for z clips for better movement
Come on Mr. Muscle, where are you hiding the rest of your plates? I'm just kidding. You asked what we thought and if we were woodworkers. I am a complete wannabe. I made my bed frame and headboard out of pallets and it came out beautiful. A lot of work. We have a lot of tools but not the big stuff. I have been watching tons of videos and have a couple projects going. I'm up cycling pallet wood and keeping my eye out for some cedar, maple or anything that's not pine to mix together for my next noisy mess. Lol. Thank you for sharing. I'll check out your hardwood flooring. Stay safe.
Love this design! Thinking of doing this out of 1x material and dowels! Would I have to do anything different?
I have the Makita Miter Saw and the little accident at the start happened to me more than once ahahah. I think it has to do with the piece of wood moving during the cut, but I might be wrong (I would actually like to know the exact reason if you know better than me) . Btw I'm a super beginner in woodworking and you guys have a new subscriber! Loved the table design!
I think it can be for a few reasons either wood movement, the blade pinching, or a really dull blade. We replaced the blade and haven’t had any further issues. Thanks for subscribing, feel free to reach out with any questions.
@@kellybrosbuilds wow, thanks for the insighful answer, I should check the blade.
both are hideous. the question is: which is worse, the look of the new finish, or the plastic-y feel of it? I can't decide.
And I can’t decide if you have ever even done any wood working or are just a keyboard warrior??? 🤔
Today I learned I’m not a “real” woodworker.
looks great
Thank you!
I don’t think it’s a matter of better/worse, just a different style. Before it looked more rustic, now it looks more modern. Great video though!
I agree
Beautiful table! Super creative and love the mid-century look. The only thing I’d have rather seen was one of you sit on it as that would have been a much more effective weight test…😂
Can confirm the mouse now works much better, does it look better? Questionable
I honestly liked how it looked better before lol. Just that new stain color that's throwing me off. But I think that it is probably more sturdy and well-made now since you guys redid everything. Nice job
Yeah I probably agree with you, the finish is much smoother now though
@@kellybrosbuilds yeah your end goal was accomplished i guess
Nice build.
Thank you!
Did you like it better before or after?
Gonna go with it before... but I get the practicality thing.
@@lumberjackhardwood haha fair enough
Much more solid than it looks
Definitely!
how much would you sell this table for??
Well this one is sitting in my dining room but it would have to sell for 3k+ to make a decent profit
Are any of the things you guys make for sale?
Working out the logistics of selling online currently!
Супер!!! Благодарю Вас! ❤️🇺🇦

Just ONE scrap pile? You need to be more specific... And how big is the pile(s)? Are they carefully sorted into "I could make a knob out of this", "I could make a handle out of this", "I could make a sign out of this", "I could edgeband something with this", and "I could make a shelf with this"? These things are important to cover...
A bunch of scrap piles! Lol
That is super sleek! How much would you sell it for 👀
Thanks, not sure yet, feel free to make me an offer! ;)
That's an awesome piece! Im not sure if I would have done anything different. However, as a curiosity I wondered if a mitered half lap (the knee to foot) would have performed as well or if it would only be a complicated visual effect. Truly an awesome build! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! That probably would have worked as well, we just kept it simple since even these little projects take so much longer than expected
The table likely could have held more weight but we didn’t want to risk it!
Very cool great ended table
Thank you sir!
Super cool 👌👏
Thanks 👊
Killer build, my man! Thanks for the inspiration! Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks brotha!
Very nice table!! I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thank you!
What would you have done differently?
You could reinforce the upper glueup with domino, or through dowel. Otherwise nice work.
@@GadiBereznitsky We couldn't think of a good way to get a domino in there but a dowel might have worked!
Nice!
Thanks!
Great job guys. Looking forward to another of youre builds.
Thanks, we should have another video up soon.
I’m sure you’re going to see this a lot, but bolting the apron to the top was a big mistake in terms of wood movement. But I think we all have to learn it the hard way 😂. Solid start though!
We were hoping for very minimal movement in our California climate but me may need to switch out the bolts for z clips
How did you account for wood movement when screwing the top to the base?
We are hoping for minimal movement in our California climate but will switch out for Z clips if any problems start to arise
Great video production! I was surprised you guys didn’t have more subscribers. I’m sure thats not to far away. Cheers.
Hopefully more subs soon! Thanks for your support!
Killer build! Love those walnut plugs! Thanks for the inspiration, definitely looking forward to the next one! Let's hope this channel sticks around!
Thanks for the feedback, we thought they added a nice little detail. More videos are on the way!
It will be interesting to watch your channel evolve over time. You are starting out really well. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your support! Many more videos to come
Супер!!!👏👍
👍👊
I do hope you gentlemen keep making these video's. Truly inspiring.
Thanks for your support!
I truly believe that the Domino's add strength. I also like thru domino's for accent purposes.
I think so too!
Gorgeous!
Thank you!
Looking good, but those walnut dowels are an eye sore for me. Sliding dovetail or oak plugs would have looked better imo
They’re not for everyone but we liked them and I’m keeping this table
@@kellybrosbuilds No I agree with you they're a nice touch.
