Derek Bailey & Min Tanaka - Mountain Stage (1993)
That opening sentence is fucking great, they really did bury everyone. And David Thomas did get to be wheeled on to stage like Muddy Waters, although Mark E. Smith was also similar. How many bands from 1975 are still going on today?
you wouldn't happen to also have Min Tanaka's performance with Milford Graves would you? I believe it's at the same venue
im so grateful to hear his voice again
What a rare and valuable chanel! ! top thanks for sharing- great study material for the student actors I work with- I will pass it along
I host music videos by a group called UNIT on my channel since they are not interested in using social media themselves. Readers should be aware that the Hello Goodbye Show has a regular programme every February in which contributors send in tracks (poetry, music, sound art etc) plus payment (£10 per minute I believe) as part of the annual drive to raise funds for the radio station. UNIT supported the station since 2007 although, to be fair, various programmes aired tracks by UNIT since July 2005. For over a decade UNIT made substantial contributions every year for this 'Pay As You Go' edition of the Hello Goodbye Show, amounting to a few thousand pounds in all. However, when the group gave Mr Bentley a set of tracks for the February 2024 show, along with payment in full (£180), within a day they received an email asking them for bank details so ALL the money could be returned. They refused to feature any of the tracks UNIT contributed. How strange. The tracks submitted were: A Tribute To The I.D.F., The Seven, Lech Lecha, Pesach and Yom Kippur. Mr Bentley claimed he was obliged to 'check with Offcom' to see if there might be a problem and decided not to include any of the tracks. In fact this is highly implausible since there would not be any need to contact Offcom. None of the tracks incited violence, including profanities or sexually explicit material - obviously. What, then, could be the problem? Well, each track is a celebration of an aspect of Judaism. If we assume A Tribute To The I.D.F. might be considered too controversial, given the spate of riots and protests in England after the atrocity committed by Hamas on 7th October 2023, then it is understandable Mr Bentley might feel inclined to avoid censure by omitting the track. I spoke about this to its writer, Andy Martin, who agreed it would be acceptable to omit the track. However, The Seven merely recites a list of the 7 major prophets in the Torah - just names (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ruth etc); Lech Lecha is a purely instrumental work; Pesach and Yom Kippur are celebrations of 2 important Jewish holy days. How could any of these 4 tracks be even remotely controversial or problematic? However, it occurs to me perhaps the people at Resonance do not wish to include any tracks that celebrate the Jewish faith on their station. This seems the most plausible explanation...and it is really very sad indeed. All 3 members of UNIT have severed all contact with Resonance FM and vowed never to offer any support again. Mr Martin is a Jew and an ardent supporter of Israel. I am neutral on the subject but I despise Jew hatred (and any other kind of bigotry) so I am in agreement with the group here. Now at least you can make up your own minds as to the kind of people behind Resonance FM.
Bit slow and that recorded music jeez 😢
England is DONE...betrayed by the ruling elite..sad..
Was the title song written by Edwin Waugh?

Does anybody know and can tell me this beautiful waltz he played please?
first time i heard victor borge was in england in 1957. my parent had a ‘78’ record. one side was all humor . the other side of the record was the serious playing. what a great man.
RIP Barry Norman & the Film Series at his best Jonathan Ross is still a pale, paltry imitation of the master. He fails miserably to fill one half of Barry Norman's boot let alone the pair. Ross will never be revered or in Barry Norman's league or even the one below that and he knows it.
What is the name of the piece he played. Anyone knows?
This play just goes to show how times have changed and by today, it is not for the good.
When I was a child mum and I took part in the Collin Welland Play For Today ‘Leeds United’ in Leeds, 1974. Collin was a really nice down to earth guy and he made me feel very relaxed about being filmed. He bought me and my mum Fish & Chips with huge glass of red wine. I look upon those days with happiness. Collin made plays that represented real life in those days.
Reminds me of the type of place and lifestyle a lot of us were brought up in - And some of us ran away from as soon as we could and never looked back - DId we do the right thing? - now theres a question there are so many different ways of looking at it but yes i think we did
This is very difficult to watch. Patriarch gets shit faced, goes home, eats, falls asleep, sobers up and goes out again. Family more critical of each other than of themselves. Husband and wife drifted apart. So this guy hooks up to be happy again and leaves his family in ruins. Very depressing and there's no happy ending.
W H Smith is a shadow of its former self.
Uncle Frank (American) got a joke late and laughed in a quiet bit. Victor stopped came to the front of the stage bowed and said "thank you sir" ❤❤
What a really enjoyable film, 🎥 interesting from💯 beginning to end, actors 🎭 were amazing ,loved the storyline 🥰
Thanks
Wonder if Audrey would have felt the same for Selwyn Froggitt
Absolutely brilliant .
That really depressed me
Used to watch university challenge on a sunday hated it as i was with my nan and we wouldnt hav dinner until it finished, the smell of the meat cooking. When it finished she would get up and put veg on, timed to the minute of my grandfather walking down path from sunday pub. They were the days when you got hungry and had to wait, something children know nothing about today. Ooo i sound so old 🤣
she's a great grind.😂 70s slang much better than todays..
