Hello everyone! My name is TJ Hallett, ruling elder and musical accompanist at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Pueblo, Colorado. For the benefit of our home congregation and the church at large, I am currently playing through all the psalms in the Trinity Psalter Hymnal on guitar and posting the recordings to this channel. If you would like the chords for any of the psalms, please email me at tphchords@gmail.com, and, provided you personally own a physical or digital copy of the TPH, I will get these chord sheets to you. I hope these resources can be of use as you sing the psalms in your corporate or private worship!

Book II of the Psalms from Memory
มุมมอง 217หลายเดือนก่อน
From February to December of 2024 I memorized and meditated on psalms 42-72. I greatly profited from it. One benefit I will not forget is how knowing the psalm by heart increases the enjoyment of singing the psalm. This recording is to remind me of this year of my life, and to encourage and inspire others to commit larger portions of scripture to memory.

I love this song, but can't find it anywhere. Can you please post on spotify?
Sure, I will do that for you. It may take a few weeks for it to appear, but I’ll record it this week and put it on my Spotify.
@tjhallett Thank you!
Many thanks TJ. Sing Psalms has the same verse 10 but the other verses have slight changes of word choice and order. Suilven is a great tune. It's a pity it's not more widely known in Scotland.
It really is a beautiful tune. Looks like it was written by one Andrew Gordon, who’s still living if I’m not mistaken.
Thankful for these videos brother. They are a great tool to hide the words of the Psalms in our hearts putting Deuteronomy 6:6-9 into practice.
I’m so glad they can be useful to you! I too continue to use them to meditate on God’s law “day and night.”
Many thanks TJ. May the Spirit use the words to achieve His own purposes.
You’re welcome brother! And amen!
This has really helped up with our Psalm singing as a family - thank you so much!
I’m so glad to hear that! You’re welcome!
I have never heard this Psalm sung in church. I have sung it many times personally, such a good prayer for us all.
We have not sung this one in church either. I hope to introduce it to our congregation one day! It is a beautiful prayer, and set to a beautiful melody as well.
**Chef’s kiss**
In a day of great declension, how these words need to be prayerfully sung unto the Lord. Keep going dear brother TJ, keep pressing on!
Amen brother! Thanks so much for the comment. This psalm has become particularly special to me since I learned it. The enemy ravages God’s people, but we shall certainly overcome through our crucified and risen Savior. God bless you!
Amen! Praise the Lord for He is able to turn the battle at the gate! This psalm is a wonderful petition to bring to the Lord in response to the ruin which the enemy has wrought within His house, sadly while men slept. And a great melody too, there is an air of triumph to it! May you and your family know the Lord's richest blessings dear brother!
This is beautiful. Thank you for this. Glory to our Lord, our God and Savior.
Thank you, God bless you!
Thank you for your uploads. The psalms are special like your singing and playing too.
@@GraceStrictBaptistChurch-GSBCT Thanks very much!
Well done! The Lord most definitely has blessed you musically! Praise the Lord for his beautiful Psalms!
Thank you, et Deo laudes.
Excellent.

Quiet and beautiful meditation. Thank you!
@@utubemouse Amen, you are welcome!
Lovely. Thank you.
@@utubemouse You’re welcome!
Could you do Psalm 88?
It’s coming up!
Do you have a particular technique that you use for memorization?
@@kathyPFUHLER-uj5ej Not really! Just simple repetition over long periods of time. I did try to keep to a schedule, doing a little bit of memory work Monday through Friday, every morning for 20-30 minutes on my drive to work, and maybe 20 minutes on my drive home (sometimes I’m more tired on the drive home and can’t bring myself to do it!). No memory work on weekends. I think that consistency helped. But really I would memorize a verse or two, repeat it until I really had it, and add a couple more verses. Sort of Shawshank Redemption escape method haha. Little bit at a time.
Man, so glad I found this channel! Keep up the great work TJ- I’m having so much fun learning to play the Psalms, and I now have another gold mine to dig through here
@@grahampearson8169 Thank you sir! God bless!
Also love the third verse of Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted. A reminder of the weight of our sin against a holy God, and the magnitude of Christ's marvelous grace for sinners.
Absolutely! How interesting to compare the content of psalm 79 with the content of Stricken, Smitten. Both refer to God’s righteous judgment poured out, and His gracious deliverance of His people. Time and again I see that the psalms and our hymns bear witness to the same reality: Salvation through Christ! The psalms do so more indirectly, our hymns, more directly.
Dear TJ, you do your brothers & sisters a great service in uploading these precious songs, thank you! May the Lord be pleased to grant a recovery of psalm singing to His church. With much love in the Lord Jesus, Gerard
Thank you Gerard! I echo your prayer!
❤❤
Praise the Lord! This is one of my favorite Psalms
Thank you so much for recording these! This will be so helpful for learning new psalms. Would you mind sharing the chords for this Psalm?
You’re welcome Marc! I’ve sent you an email.
Thank you for your labors brother! A true blessing.
You are very welcome! God bless!
God bless you & your family my brother ! Excellent job ! My family and I have been working on memorizing scripture, and I find this video so encouraging.
@@sarahf.8525 Thank you so much! I’m glad this video is an encouragement to you. May God help us all to continue to hide His Word in our hearts, that we might not sin against Him!
Thanks again. In Scotland this psalm is sometimes sung in the same metre to the tunes Austrian Hymn and Ebenezer. Hyfrydol and Dim Ond Iesu are used too. There's also a version to Calon Lân. It's a pity that the Trinity Psalter and Sing Psalms don't overlap more. I suppose it's like having several English versions of the Bible. Maybe in the next round of psalmody reforms we'll get a common set of words. Having said that folks probably had the same complaint when we moved from the Genevan Psalter to the 1650 versions.
Yes it is unfortunate that there is not more overlap. I think the best thing is to know the substance of the psalm itself, then whatever versification one comes across will still be comprehensible in the singing of it. God bless!
Subscribed! This is a favorite of mine. How excellent is His name!!. Thanks.
Thank you Monica! This is a favorite of mine as well. God bless!
William Wilberforce would take his hat off to you. Some of us find the metrical versions easier to memorise. I once met a preacher who was able to recite big chunks of one of Paul's letters - Corinthians - I think it was. He didn't set out to do so but had preached through it thoroughly and it left its mark on him.
@@trystwithchrist I didn’t know that Wilberforce was connected to Scripture memory! It has become a passionate hobby of mine. I find I understand a book so much more thoroughly when I commit it to memory. Something about saying it to myself day after day after day… Meditation!
Maybe my son will be able to do this one day. His memory is great and we started when he was 3. He’s memorized psalm 1, 2, 23, 34, and 110 and many other chapters (John 1, Isaiah 53)/ verses at 6 years old.
That’s a good start! May the Lord nourish in him a heart to love the Word.
Hey brother! Around the 56-57 minute mark, you did indeed miss the line. After "God in His holy habitation" and right before "He leads out the prisoner(s) to prosperity", this is the line you are looking for. "God settled the solitary in a home". Verse 6 of Ps. 68. Funny enough, I relate to that verse.
@@BohemianCat89 Hey there! Yep, that is totally the line I missed! I’m pretty sure that’s the only verse I completely omitted, though I definitely mixed up some words here and there throughout. I always feel a twinge of guilt whenever I leave out a line, since every verse is precious! Like you pointed out, that particular line was important to you. Ah well. To err is human! Thanks for listening!
If you're doing Trewen please also consider Psalm 121 from Sing Psalms.
I will consider it!
I love this one! Have you done A Debtor to Mercy Alone to the tune Trewen? If not you absolutely should! It’s my favorite hymn!!! I love listening to your songs, I listen to them every day!
Thanks so much! Yes, I also love A Debtor to Mercy Alone to Trewen. Such a powerful hymn of assurance. It’s a favorite at our church. I’m so glad you benefit from these recordings! God bless you!

@@globar4776Haha I could barely keep it together! So beautiful! So glad to have found it. I hope to introduce it to my church as well.
My wife is saying you skipped 103c because it is too difficult, please show her wrong. It is her favorite right now . Blessings to you and your family
Haha I haven’t skipped it! My plan is to do them all, in numerical order. Occasionally I record one that my church will be singing the following Sunday. I will take a look at 103C this week! God bless.
@tjhallett thank you! Also my son would like the cords to 103A when you get a chance.
Wonderful.
Thank you!
Not sure what the musical term is, but I love the psalms like this one and 79A like you did!
Thanks very much! Maybe you mean you like the tunes in the minor key? They both have that in common.
@ that’s exactly it! I love the sound of those minor key psalms!
Is that coat a reference to Matt Papa's look on the "Christus Victor (Amen)”" video?
Hahah I had to look up the video to see who that was! No, total coincidence lol. It is quite a ridiculous shirt, but always good for a laugh!
