I did not know that was even a thing until now. I checked my 98 2-door project XJ and it indeed has a glove box light. Glorious!

I did not infact know how to remove the air box. 🤣 I bought a 98 Jeep 4L that had a rough idle. Never worked on a car before this. Had never even changed the oil in a vehicle. Tried all sorts of different solutions (New O2 sensors, ignition coil, spark plugs, etc) and nothing worked. Read through a manual for a 2000 jeep and it suggested a blown head gasket. Following your video, I learned everything on the way and pulled the head. Gasket was fine, head was cracked. We just so happened to have a junk 99 (or 00) jeep on the property that had been wrecked, repaired, and had an older 0630 head. After endless cleaning, valve lapping, and replacing valve seals, I got it slapped back together with my dad After 2 months, it roared back to life today! Needs coolant before the real test but then I'll be road testing it tomorrow. It sounded so nice. Thank you so much for this video! This was my main resource to make it happen

Those bulbs have a negative and positive terminal so you have to make sure they line up.

Thank you for the video I was reading I'd have to change whole wiring harness to get it to work . Made no sense to me because the 97 I am taking the 5 speed from has a distributor not a coil pack was starting to think I'd have to swap engines and all . But nope just send the ecu in . Great makes it alot easier .

Great video! I bought a '99 4.0 AWD in about the same condition last month with 240,000 miles on it. I've been getting it in shape for a trip down Baja Mexico we are taking next month. Plenty of folks asking me why I won't bring our 2021 JL or our 2020 F250 instead, but I want a real adventure!

I have a TJ engine, tranny and transfercase sitting around. Also, the ECU and wiring harness. Would that be a doable swap for a 2.5L 2WD XJ?

This is gonna be fun. At least it’s not the other vehicle I’ve done one on where there’s a lower intake manifold since it was a V6. The worst part of this job is probably the manifolds - I’ve done the exhaust manifold before so at least it’s not my first time.

That fast-travel map at the beginning was a riot! After all, who likes working on their cart in Windhelm 😆. I'm about to change plugs on my 2001 XJ with 240,000 miles on it, and probably 70,000 miles on the plugs. Praying I don't snap off that plug way in the back

Genuine question is there no concerns with setting lash, lifter preload, torquing down at tdc? First time pulling the head.

The rear glass on an mj looks like pre facelift xj ones so i wonder if you can swap em out and have an openable rear glass on an xj

Do not use rock auto! They will give you the wrong parts at some point and then they will not refund you the money even if you send it back the way you got it. They robbed me of 180 dollars, and nobody will answer the phone. Rock auto needs to go under. they are not worthy of your hard earned money.
