Blur flopped at Coachella...

    I never understand why people (or even Damon himself) would ever give a f*uk about not breaking American audience (inclu. back in 90s). Why on earth anything needs American's horrible taste as seal of approval? Com'on, they're notorious in some form of culture (e.g. mass consumption by quantity instead of quality). The fact that Blur is hugely popular in the rest of the world just not so much in America is enough to call them a real legend! Look at what kind of influencers America has produced last few years! As a Blur fan I call it pride to be "not hooked by American"!

    I saw them last year at Primavera Sound in Buenos Aires and the crowd went absolutely crazy, you could see Damon and the band were feeding off the crowds energy. Same thing if you watch their performances in other Latin American countries, where the crowds are famous for being very passionate. You can tell Damon is one of those performers who really seeks to connect with the audience, so if the audience is bad, the performance will probably be bad

    You may be right, but imho NcutiGatwa is a great Doctor. He's fun to watch, I like his open and friendly personality. He was my first Doctor Who season (or series), before I had just watched three or four various episodes. Now, I began to watch from Eccleston on - thanks to the new series.

  • @irrevenant3
    @irrevenant3 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    IMO a lack of character growth for the Doctor was probably not a bad idea for a first season composed of only 8 episodes. That's less than 2/3rds the length of Eccleston's first season and we already had a lot going on in this season. Season 14 establishes the baseline for the new Doctor and I expect they'll start testing and expanding that in S15. (Aside: Even Wikipedia noped out of the stupid 'it's a new season 1!' thing and just calls it S14).

    1:40 That's not true really. Their first double A-side single "She's So High/I Know" was a commercial flop, even bigger than "Bang" ("She's So High" peaked at number 48 in the UK Singles Charts). Their first big hit was "There's No Other Way", their second single, which peaked at number 8 As for Coachella performance: I think that the band was a bit too full of themselves to think they would go to the United States and entertain an audience, that probably knows only one song by Blur - "Song 2" (which imo is a bit ironic, but that's a story for a whole another TH-cam video). Seriously, their 1992 North American tour should have taught them better

    As a giant Gorillaz fan I honestly really don’t like how Damon sings on stage, don’t get me wrong his singing is beautiful when he’s in the studio, he DOES have the voice of an angel, so like why doesn’t he sound like that on stage?? Why does he just sound like someone’s dad poorly singing a song he’s barely ever heard? It’s so confusing to me 😭

    honestly im already tired of all the ‘fantasy’ themes and all the gods being introduced. it feels like that has been run dry by now and it’s only been the direction for a season and some specials. with season 2 looking like it’ll have more harbingers and even more gods it’s hard to look forward to it being likely similar to this season, but will still always watch regardless.

    Coachella, once a beacon for true music lovers, has devolved into a vapid spectacle for wannabe influencers and trend-obsessed hipsters. What was once a celebration of diverse and groundbreaking music is now a glorified backdrop for Instagram photoshoots and pretentious fashion parades. The festival's focus on superficial glamour has tragically overshadowed genuine talent. Take Blur, for instance-a band of legendary status and immense artistry. Instead of receiving the recognition they deserve, Blur gets lost in a sea of shallow posers more interested in their next hashtag than the music. Coachella attendees, more concerned with appearances than substance, are a stark reminder that the festival has strayed far from its roots, leaving true music fans yearning for the authentic experience that once was.

    There is simply no comparison. Whatever talent Davies once had ( not to mention his judgement) has evaporated. Lets not sugar coat this, he was brought back to save the show, and reduced the viewing figures to sub Sylvester McCoy,,,,

      You can't realistically compare 2024 viewing figures with 1989 viewing figures. *Especially* when a significant part of Doctor Who's audience are now watching it through Disney+ rather than traditional channels.

    • @sadomensgaudaprime8142
      @sadomensgaudaprime8142 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@irrevenant3 But that's not what's happened. The show didn't even register, the viewership was that low. Ditto iPlayer. And even if there was some truth in what you are saying, the simple fact the show cost 10 million an episode only serves to show just how God awful these viewings figures are. Fact.
