In this video i have tried to solve my biggest issue of carrying the telescope around the house by simply putting Castor rolls on the legs of the telescope. This was the cheapest & best option i could think of , I have also used Door stopper as a handle to move the scope which was only $1. The total built cost was $20. 3 X Castor Rolls = $15 1 X Door Stopper = $1 1 X Screw pack = $4 What i have...
Unboxing GSO RC6

Bought a new Telescope for the galaxy season but it arrived late due to the back orders and it arrived out of collimation...urrrrrgghhhhh!!! BUT this scope is really good to capture Star Clusters & Galaxies or Planets and Nebulae's. I will call it a all rounder in the telescopes. The design is really compact and a bit lighter on the pocket.

Same camera and scope. Cant seem to get anything decent through the phones camera. Which mount are you using? If you dont mind me asking.
HEQ5 PRO
Which accessories have used?
William Optics GT71, Asi 183MC Pro, ASI AIR PRO, HEQ5 PRO, Optolong L-Extreme, Guide scope and guide cam asi 120mm.

Feedback taken
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 sorry mate. I didn't mean to come across aggressive. My scope got knocked out balance and alignment and I was trying to show my 8 year old niece Jupiter. I'm frustrated with myself. Not what you did.
I underestimate it is really frustrating to align the finderscope with the eyepiece. If you can dm me I can help you with that.
Dm me on insta starstruck336
Nice scope, but boy, watching you assemble it on a dusty hairy carpet was making me cringe!!! You basically accumulated a year's worth of dust and whatever else all over the optics of that scope in the 30 minutes that it took you to make the video.
Lol....yeah I never thought of that.....
Just curious.. do the swivel casters hit the 3 rubber legs when they swivel? Or did you take those legs off after? I thought you were going to take the legs off first and use the hole for one of the 4 caster holes. Also, is it harder to level the base for setting circles with the rolling casters as opposed to the rubber feet? Thanks for the video. Oops.. edit: I thought I saw you mentioned setting circles for your base.. my mistake.
No the castor wheels are bigger than the rubber feets.... apologies for the late response
Nice pics. Terrible music.
Appreciate the feedback will make sure it gets better each time.
I was searching for a Cassegrain telescope with a goto mount and this seems right with my tight budget. I thought this telescope is supposedly for planetary or visual astronomy and not for DSO . I am confused.
Yes it's more of planetary but people do take galaxies as well with this not much of DSO for sure
Thanks for the upgrade video . What else can I upgrade out of box dobsonian. 8 ?
Yeah it's an 8inch
Just got a second hand 114eq, and this is gonna be a huge help to set it up correctly. Thanks mate..👍🏻😎
You are welcome mate
Why watch to the end when the last 2 and a half minutes is just a black screen?
Sorry about the inconvenience I think I'll have to edit and repost
Thanks for the feedback
Slow down dude
Lol.... Yes this was my first video on TH-cam I appreciate your comment.
Great video, thanks. I've ordered this scope recently. And I've a gt 71 aswell! How have you found the gso's performance? Any issues with colimation? Cheers!
Collimation is a pain and it's mainly for planetary purpose for me hence never tried on DSO... Congratulations for your new scope and all the best.
Wouldn't it be off balance because of the weight of the camera? I have the same mount and it seems the balance would be off? Have you had issues?
Just move the scope towards the front and it should be fine
Hello from Canada. Great upgrades. I'm interested in your focuser.
Hi thanks for the comment and my focuser Is just the stock focuser I have not upgraded it.
tengo un askar acl200 que camara me recomiedas por el tamaño del pixel .la zwo 533mc o la 183mc? saludos desde chile
Hello Pipeastro.... I would recommend ASI 183MC PRO basis on your focal length and pixel size of 183mc it will be reaching at resolution of 2.48"/pixel which is just a little bit over the sampled image but it's a good choice. But please don't buy it on my opinion you can go on Astronomy Tools website> Calculators>CCD Suitability then punch in your telescope, camera and binning details and the website will tell you if you are oversampling or undersampling your images with the setup you have input in the fields.
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 muchas gracias amigo . Saludos desde chile🇨🇱
You are always welcome buddy..... Greetings from Melbourne
Still trying to figure out what video everyone else watched, but this one fast-forwards during the entire assembly and without explaining any of the steps relative to why this goes here and balancing and the long list of other things you should explain when claiming to make a video about assembly.
Thanks for the feedback Brian.... As this was my first video ever on assembling the telescope I may have missed out on much if the things but if you need any help with your telescope I'll be more than happy to assist you in explaining all the stuff needed for this kind of telescope. Anyways I have grown much out of this telescope and now into astrophotography I gave away this telescope to my school for the kids and made sure the person using it knows how to use it. Please reach out if you need any help.
Awesome thanks
I own exactly the same dobsonian and such úpravě looks easy and inspiring. Thanks for the video :-)
You are welcome
I have the same setup. What gain, offset and exposure did you use?
Exposures are 30 seconds and gain is 120.
I think you may have just helped me! Thank you
Great I could have been of help to you 🙂
I got a question does the dovetail which comes with the scope work on svbony sv503 80 ed
Nope it will not work because it's a hot shoe dovetail.
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 sure so which dovetail will work? Thanks
I can’t get the 2” piece off to put on the reducer. Did you have to unscrew any of the screws? Thanks!
Yes you will have to unscrew it.
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 okay thanks. Which screws did you have to loosen? The ones attached to the ring?
Please do not unscrew any screws on the scope of you watch the video I have shown how to attach the field flattenner at 9.01 min of the video
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome mate...
I'm thinking of getting this mount. Have you got it? If so how is it? and can you mod it?
Yes it's good and you can mod it
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 thanks
Welcome
One more question. I have a Nikon F mount DSLR. Once I figure out backfocus, does that mean the object I'm going to photograph, say the Andromeda Galaxy, will be in focus? Or do I still need to use the GT's focusing system to draw the focuser in and out to achieve focus? I'm thinking the backfocus distance is just to have a correct flat field for edge to edge star shape sharpness. However, it doesn't have anything to do with object focus correct? Thank you.
It's completely opposite to what you have mentioned the back focus is to bring the object in focus and has nothing to do with pin point stars edge to edge.
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 thanks so much for the fast reply. Being wrong is a relief actually. I can only imagine how back heavy our scopes would be with everything attached AND having to move the focuser out. I’m guessing the built in mask helps in making sure the back focus is correct too? If the backfocus is correct then the mask should show a perfect pattern.
Absolutely correct 👍
Very nice. Thank you for sharing this. I'm still learning and I was wondering Instead of the zwo mini computer, can I use a small laptop? Thx Mike
Yes you can use a laptop 🙂
I have one, works great.
It is indeed but too slow for DSOs
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 You need the astro physics ccdt67 reducer which would bring it down to around F6.
Thanks mate I'll try to get it if it helps.
What is the length of the dovetail bar that comes with the scope? Thank you.
The dovetail is 200mm in length
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 I may be getting a longer one as the scope tend to get back heavy while achieving focus.
Thanks, this helped with some of the issues I have run into with my new WO GT71. This is my first and I am having difficulty getting a quality image.
Let me know what exactly is the problem if I can assist you
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 Thanks for the reply. I believe I have determined it is my settings on my star tracker. I totally misunderstood how to set Polaris on the scope. Thought it set in the middle and it actually sets around 4:30 on the utility clock where I am at. Will have to try again when it is not so bright from the moon. Lot more to it than I realized!
Just watched your unboxing video on the GT71. Great video. I'm considering this scope as well. In this video, do you have the flattener attached? The Moon doesn't look flat, but oblongish. Maybe it's my eyes? lol Thanks
Yes the flattner is attached to it it's a 0.8X reducer flattner by William Optics. The oblong shape could be because of the ASI app since the video was a direct download from the app and no further treatment was done to the footage.
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 I just received my GT 71 in gold today! I also got the matching reducer. Now just waiting on the mount to come in.
Congratulations
Thanks.
Why are some of you're pictures black and white if ur using a color camera?
I have processed them that way
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 can i ask why? What benefit do you get from that?
Every channel has its own amount of signals hence I did it to see more nebulosity...
Excellent
Thanks 😊
Very nice job Ashwin. Cool setup too.
Thanks mate
Amazing detail! Nice telescope!!
Thanks
How do you upgrade an 8in Dobsonian to make it usable, w tracking and pointing? Put it on a Celestron CG-4 with ring clamps.
Not sure what you meant 😞 can you please elaborate more so I can assist 😉
Great video! And a great idea for upgrading a Dobsonian!
Thanks David
I have never seen a door stopper like that- where did you get it?

@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 Thank you!

well, can we look at the land targets with this, if you can help me, I would appreciate it, thanks in advance 🙏
Yes you can look at terrestrial objects depends what are you try to look for and how far is the object basis which your focal length has to be decided.

It depends on what you are looking for it's a good scope for beginner
Hey I was thinking of buying a telescope, Do you have any idea about Star tracker telescope how good they are?under 25k which telecope should I go ahead in india?
Hi Rahul, That is a really good budget you carry and for the first time I would recommend the skywatcher 8 inch dobsonian telescope it will be amazing.
tejraj.com/gso-pro-dobsonian-telescopes.html
Call Tejraj number is on thier website and speak to Darshil he will give you a good deal tell him Ashwin sent you as referral.
Is the carpet the best material to expose this equipment to?
Dan I seriously didn't get your point mate...lol
i will also buy it..give some review after using.
Sure
Don't buy it waste of money go for a Schmidt cassegrien if possible.....
Collimation is really a big deal I would recommend a casegrien telescope
Also the backfocus and weight balancing will be a problem
I'll see if i can capture something with it.
So based upon this diagram at www.cyclopsoptics.com/flattener-reducer/william-optics-flat6a-iii-0-8x-adjustable-reducer-flattener/ for our setup it requires 7.1 mm separation. Is this what you have figured out?
Sorry, so I did figure it out that it is intended to have this adjustment between the flatterer/reducer. Given that, what setting do you use to have the correct spacing?
Quicky question. I just received my t-ring that fits my Canon 750d. I ran into the same issue you did at 11:00 in your video. In order to align the camera I had to fiddle with the field flatterner/focal reducer inner ring. I haven't had a chance (as always when we get them setup the clouds come), but does that adjustment have any effect on the imaging?
No
So I just modified mine to resemble the zenithstar-61-ii in the below video. So far so good...Seems very strong and stable still. Now the dew shield completely retracts. The only thing that would need to be removed from the scope, is the focal reducer/focus flattener thing. Much easier than taking the whole bracket junk off.
Is this your Channel?
@@starstruckbyashwinchavan5378 No, but I couldn't load the image I took of my modified scope. Sorry for that. I'll remove the link and you can just go to william optics for the zenithstar-61-ii
