Toyota GR86 Header Install, Shiny New Parts! #automobile #cars #gazooracing
In this episode we are installing a new header on the @RoadOdyssey Toyota GR86. This was a pretty strait forward task with really no big surprises so I feel anyone with a reasonable level of mechanical aptitude should be able to complete this project with relative ease.
The tools needed were pretty basic but I'd recommend having a set of metric crows feet and some narrow shank socket extensions if you can find them. This took the two of us a couple hours but that included recording and all the video production mumbo jumbo that comes with the territory. Were it just me in the shop and not recording, I feel I could be done in about 2-3 hours or so.

    • @YellowJacketGarage

      Not to my knowledge but the accident breaker on the fuel system could. Check your owners manual for that reset procedure if it is something that might be an issue for you. I've seen cars that had the fuel pump breaker trip and just needed a reset. How serious was the accident that locked your seat belt?

      Not necessarily, based on my conversation with an engineer from QuickJack they can be placed either way or even across the underside of the car. His main point was to check the balance before lifting all the way up to ensure a safe lift. Thanks for watching and commenting. Of course if you place them across, you need to make sure they're operating the same direction or it won't work. The direction of the labels may be specific to each model but I didn't get that from our conversation. If your user manual doesn't state you can, I certainly wouldn't do it. • @xThat1dude
      @xThat1dude 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @YellowJacketGarage that was a catalyst code. Gas cap can only be for the evap system. The code comes and goes often with just normal driving on both of these systems unless the problem is more severe. I have been a professional automotive technician for a little shy of 20 years. I personally would have run tests and monitored live data for the catalyst. That purchase of a gas cap without an evap code is at best, a preventive measure but it literally had absolutely nothing to do with your catalyst code. Nothing at all. I'm only mentioning anything because I have a lot of friends that watch videos with bad information then ultimately ending up wasting a ton of money trying to fix their issues. I would like for that to end. Everyone is struggling too much to fall for this mess.

    • @YellowJacketGarage
      @YellowJacketGarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @xThat1dude I hear you but why did that fix the code? Literally nothing else was changed other than the code erased. The code was repetitive for weeks and then vanished after changing the cap?

    Cutting a hole in the plastic cowl piece is not the way to go. It may be easier to ruin a body part, but not the way to go. Instead, disconnect battery, disconnect fuel lines from fuel rails , remove plastic engine covers and the intake manifold. The sending unit can be easily accessed then. Buy new intake gaskets, and reinstall everything in reverse. In about 2 hours, you should be done. It isn't a difficult job to do this.

Are the low enough top get under the vette without any initial raising? If I also wanted to use these on like a SUV, is it enough or move up to like a 7000TL? Normally when this raises all the way up it's enough height to get the wheels off with suspension drop?

    your vid should be must watch for amateur wrenchers,,, i just amused myself with several "quick jack fail" videos and in every one you had user error, most very dumb errors, because they refuse to read the manual. hydraulics is a pretty basic concept you learn in basic High School chemistry and more in-depth in hs physics, its why you pay attention in class. put more simply, before you get under a two ton object, you might want to learn how the tool that holds it up for you works.

      @dfboiler thank you for the kind words! I definitely scratch my head more than once a day too. QuickJack is very clear on the capabilities of these things as well as how to use them but some folks know better it seems.

    Nice choice in pads. I always tend to bounce back and forth between Hawk and Stop Tech based on price at that time. Good tip on the plastic piece against the rotors. For the calipers, I backwoods it with a piece of wood and a clamp so it moves both pistons at the same time. Great video with tips and steps for others. Thanks for sharing brother.

    You need to keep the outlet line above the brake bleed screw. You just let air back in the system by not have the line full.

    • @YellowJacketGarage
      @YellowJacketGarage 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kurtkarasch8768 not if you close the bleed screw before letting off the air. Turn on the air, open the bleed screw, watch fluid flow, shut off bleeder, then shut off air. Works great.😎
