    Nice review, I've just upgraded from a CB300R to CB500 HORNET, which is the same as the CB500F. You comment on how light the clutch is on these bikes and it is. However, compared to the CB300R, I'm finding the gearbox a bit clunky, especially going into first and from 2 and 3rd. You don't mention this?

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@ronlysons6750 hi, it will only be clunky if you're putting it into first gear at the wrong speeds. It's highly likely that you're putting it down into first gear at too high speeds. Anything under about 8mph for first gear, otherwise you will hear a big "clunk" or " "bang". There is not problem with the bike, this is usually caused by user error. No offence intended 😉

    • @ronlysons6750
      @ronlysons6750 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@motorcyclelessonsuk Thank you for your prompt reply, I only put it into 1st when the bike has stopped. If the bike is moving I just slip the clutch in 2nd gear if I need to. My only other experience with a motorcycle gearbox was my CB300R, that was really smooth and light. So maybe it's just me, maybe some are clunky, some are not. Lovely bike though, just has easy to ride as the CB300R, but the rider experience is much better.

    Revmatching is not an efficient way to slow down? First time i hear this…maybe you were referring to something else? Side note: yeah massive difference from 4s to parallels…i can be in 2nd at 40mph and still in eco on versys 650 (they are known to like revs) but at the same time i agree that being in a higher gear alleviates the choppiness starting to love ur vids

    Hi Lianna, thanks for this video. So once you're in position 1 to turn left, there's no need for a second (final) lifesaver immediately prior to turning left? Also, can I ask another question? If you were turning left from one residential road into another, would you be penalised on Mod 2 by the examiner for maintaining position 2 - providing I lifesaver before doing the turn (check my blind spot)? I am somewhat of a defensive rider, and only tend to use the 1st and 3rd positions on busy junctions or when exiting main roads onto smaller residential areas and vice versa. My fear with leaning toward position 1 on a small residential road, when turning left into an equally small residential, is that there could be a string of cars parked as you're turning left, which sometimes you'd only see when too late (unsure if that makes sense?) I appreciate we all have different riding styles, but would I be penalised for maintaining position 2 in the circumstances I've mentioned? Thanks, Martin

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Martin. Correct, once in position, there should be no need for another lifesaver as you are in a position that prevents others using the space to your left. It's fine to do what you're suggesting, no you won't be penalised so long as you do that lifesaver. However, bear in mind your cornering speed should always be dictated by your view. If you can't see around the turn in position 1, take it slower so you could deal with any reasonably anticipated hazards such as parked cars or pedestrians crossing the road. Speed is always dictated by view. You should always be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear on your side of the road. Playing devil's advocate - If you're taking the turn in 2, you'll be tempted to take it quicker, therefore less likely to be able to stop. Thanks 😊

    You must have the patience of a saint. Either dealing with complete novices or people who think they're experts. 👌🏼

    I always remember my driving instructor telling me to get up to speed quickly as you dont want to be holding people up, great advice that a lot of drivers still dont do. 🚗

    Great video as usual👍🏻 how much travel does the rear brake have? Mines travels about 7 cm but the brake only activates after 5 cm. Is this normal?

      Some travel more than others but the lever is adjustable as to where the brake starts to "bite" so to speak.

    Any advice as to why I find it hard to do right hand bends ..

      Some people favour one bend over another. Best advice I can give is to lift your head up and look around the bend, practise counter steering and actively seek out right hand bends to practise riding until you feel confident. Take yourself to a car park and ride big circles to the right to get used to leaning in towards he right. Make sure on the road your position is sensible such that you're not leaning over the centre white line, and you look as far around the bend as you can, seeking out the furthest bit of road ahead.
