I've got a 2004 K2700 kia lil truck and I is a weapon pulls my car trailer around town beautifully or 2 tonne of soil no worries pretty sure its got Same motor
From what I've heard they are reliable, 2.7L diesel
Gawd... I haven't seen one of these out in the wild for YEARS. They used to be everywhere, like the MB100 (which have all vanished too)
There's a MB100 in town that I see but other than that one they are a rare sight.
In Indonesia, this car was sold as "luxury-cheap" van, the market target was the middle class families that needed big-reliable-comfortable car. It was like Mazda E2000 but Diesel and bigger. As time passes from the time it was released, it is now popular as a commercial vehicle for transport companies the price of a used Pregio is cheaper than buying Hiace/Isuzu Elf or even Hyundai Grace that is known to be rare. Maybe there is another version of Pregio to be sold by Kia, which is the Kia Travello, however many companies prefer Pregio as the suspension is way more comfortable than the Kia Travello which the chassis is based on the Kia Based Up. However, there's one downside of the Pregio. The engine power isn't that good on hilly terrains.
Here only the trade versions were sold, so we never got a luxury Pregio.
Hawt
Rather push a Datsun Sunny than drive a rusty Heeyun Die Excel with mediocre hubcaps and 1.5 growled like a Mitsubishi/Chrylser Galant.
Enjoyed the off road action, keep up the good work
Cheers
glad you mentioned its an opel. most holden guys have no idea.
Yeah cheers, with the exception of the VE and VF all the Commodores were based off Opels.
@@thecarwreckhunter yes and all holdens before were based on opel chev and vaxhaul. they have never ever been australian.
@@davidhusband5022 its the same issue with Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ same car different brands, it is holden but copied off the Opel design
@@davidhusband5022 The Original FX Holden was based off a Chev prototype but after that they were slowly improved after every model and so were based less and less off the Chev, By the time of the HQ- WB models they would've been almost completely Australian. Toranas used Vauxhall bodies, then later on Geminis were just rebadged Isuzus and later on a lot of the Holden models were rebadged Isuzus, Daewoos, Nissans, Opels, Suzukis and Toyotas.
@@thecarwreckhunter yep correct.
The yellow monaro is 186, I can tell from the badge on the front of the guard.
what happened with the Bees
They all just left after about 40 minutes.
So Reliable for me, just scored a mint condition 1993 Camry with 180000ks yeww
My first car I owned was a 1964 Austin Freeway.
Even in later life these cars are beautifull
That would be a sweet frame swap project woahh

Yeah N.T. has heaps of Commodore wrecks ,mainly indigenous cars.
Yeah that sums bush rubbish like this up perfectly. Because they care about the land more than us. .....
poor opel omegas....
I wonder if that was a Hillman? Something about it reminds me of a 1920s Hillman 14 tourer. The radiator is about right and the headlights mounted on a crossbar. Not sure about the front wings - there is a crease margin I’ve not seen on a Hillman. The other possibility is a Holden, which I think is more likely.
I've had a HQ Kingswood, HX and HZ tonner and Ute and I'm not afraid to say I'm a proud owner of a 1997 3 door 5 sod air con excel. I bought it for $300 at far west Sydney and a mate put a new clutch in it fuel filter leads plugs and oil change any the little car performs very sound and reliably. Like yours I take it outback Australia. It has a uniden CB in it a single din Sony stereo system in it that's the same price I bought it for 7 years ago. Stedi flood / spot lightbar at the front and two Stedi mining spec flood lights facing outward as ditch lights. I bought it with 140000 on it and it's now I think it's up to 280000km. I fully trust it driving the same sort of off roads your doing and would contribute a few 10000ks to that treatment.. To get yourself out of a big situation all you need is buy those interlocking rubbery tiles ( the ones that are about 2' x 2' x 12mm ) that have round holes in them, keep about 8 of them in the boot and place them under the wheels and you can get the Excel out of any hell bog by driving out on them as I found out... Before I used shade cloth tho the tiles are the bomb. It's my second excel. The other one is in the paddock for a doner car. So long as you don't flog the arse out of them I'm convinced I could get 500000 with the motor. My other car is a AWD 2007 ford territory tho I keep the battery off that as I prefer my little Excel for long distance travel. You get used to the full driving experience of hearing the different sized road aggregates under the wheels in the outback and that's all part of the joy in driving a simpler super reliable tiny car.. Monologue over. Yeah ❤ the Excel lol
Stolen for sure…….
I am interesting in these, thanks!
yeah bloke, very interesting vids for sure, more please :)
I realise that they are not pacers ....but American Plymouth Valients are available mostly rust free and straight bodies in the South West and west of America . Get some friends together and buy several and ship them in a container along with all the parts you need. Two people could get over for about 10k ausie much better than rebuilding one of these . Also Brazil had a two door Charger based off the valient . Hey in America Dodge had a version called the Dart also cheers
found a v8 hq wagon up on an abandoned property in the dandenong ranges vic. so sad to literally be able to see the forest floor through the holes in the roof and floor pan
VG had vented disc
Owned 3 pacers 👍🏻🇦🇺
Cool video mate Ive had my pacer since 86 I was living in Kambalda in early 90s there used to be a couple of VF Pacers at the back of red hill and even a vh pacer at the bone yard at the Kambala speedway also lots of cool old wrecks in the surrounding bushland plus later when I was living in Narrabeen there was a boot hill outside of town were all the locals used to park up all the wrecks lots there at the time not sure it's there anymore but may be worth a look
That fist one somehow has relatively good bumper, boot lid and quarters
I love American AU cars because they are more spicier then the ones we have in the US, "they look nicer"! Thanks for the video!😁
Cheers mate
Best part when you can reuse parts or even the car itself
Man I'd love to see that fixed up Body looks decent I'd download that car tbh
Wooah those Ks! That would have held so many memories Crazy how it just ends up like that TBF could be used just convertible it lol
No reception out most places so I'm gonna download this Cheers for the tips
Cheers mate
How do you establish who owns them? Im guessing they were stolen and dumped years ago
I have never seen a blue streak spin a bearing and I’ve owned several, so I’ll have to take your word for that.
i fort, i fink, i seen...come on man...did you go to school?
I guess you will never know if I ever went to school or not.
Old mate just found a bunch of vintage cars in the outback and you're worried about internet grammar? Maybe exploration not for ya mate
very uninteresting cars indeed.back in the day, we called them wog chariots.
Wogs knew a good car when they seen one . 👍🏻.
Free pacers! (Minus fuel and other costs)
The cocky wont sell it because he "might fix her up one day"
Alot look like they were recently dumped id say, bet it wasn't too long b4 most became just a burnt shell
There were GT's dumped/stolen/burnt just like anything else, but they are, and always were, so desirable that anything that could be salvaged was salvaged. Even a povo pack XR-XY will start a bidding war no matter the condition :P I never found anything special about Monaros myself but each to their own, I'd take a Kingswood over one any day, but a Falcon or a Valiant would be preferred. As for the modern plastic "Monaro".... even though I never liked the original personally, I still think it was disgusting what they did to the name/badge with those disgusting two door plastic commonwhores :( whoever cut that one up did the world a favour imo <3
Takes me back as a 27 year old i remember them all over the place. Mostly in 2006-2013 when all the p platers had them Mostly in Balga and places :) STILL see the odd one or 2 BUT they getting thin now. I guess the GETZ is the next one we wont see soon. GOD that Lantra at perth motor plex i remember that one HAHA The good ol demo derbys :P
The derbys at the Motorplex were good, used to go to almost every one when I lived in Perth. That and in the bush is where all the Excels ended up.
A fair few so-called “Aussie muscle cars” ended up burnt out in reservations in the 70’s! Make of that what you will. Fact by tow truck driver and repo man.
Still happening........................................................
Heard stories of GT Ford graveyards in such places. Almost none of the surviving GT Falcons would have many original fitted parts left as 70s and 80s were fitted with bits and pieces off the many stolen ones. Any aussie muscle car from those days you could almost guarantee is fitted with at least some stolen bits.
The Ba barra and the au sohc probably would still run with a good restoration on the motors 😂 purely Aussie built tuff
Of course, just will need to put some fuel in the tank.
My uncle was no angel in the 70's as a teenager and apparently there should be roughly half a dozen Monaros, Ford XB GT, a couple toranas and some valiants in the Port river south Australia 🤫😂
Out towards St Kilda (SA past the old speedway track) there was about a dozen HQ's (this was late 1980's) that had all been striped or cut and all were perfect bodies obviously stolen for parts. Like all the old Holden's they had the butterfly ignition which could be turned without the key.
They were junk before they were abandoned.
This hurt to see.
stolen.. back in the late seventies two mates of mine had HQ monaros and ended up selling them as the were sick of arseholes trying to steal them
That's why if you have a desirable car you must fit A FUEL LOCK either in the floor or under bonnet somewhere and an electrical cut out switch so car won't fire I had a SLR 5000 Torana and had similar problems with arseholes trying to steal it They never got past the immobiliser
Some c##ts got nuthing better to do
I think that first ones an escort im looking at mine and it looks to be the same plenum
