@@GaetanoDirusso yes it does work, you should get more resolution options and less lag. I would say try disconnecting wifi and see if that works for you to eliminate one possible issue.

@@CheweyDelt on mine it does, I don’t fully remember the commands to split the drive. But I would definitely recommend splitting it before you install the new drive. But once split the main SSD has to have the OS on it. But as is the OS is split between the two drives similar to a raid. So if you pop in a new drive it will most likely not boot if it is looking for that Fusion Drive. Does it currently boot?

@@BadspadeLive it used to boot to the login screen, and then I couldn’t go any further. Now, when I turn it on, all I see is a blinking folder icon and a link to the apple support page. I’m still able to boot a Linux distro from a flash drive, so the machine is still useable in some form. But I’m trying to figure out if I would be able to fully fix the machine if I replaced the HDD.

@@CheweyDelt yes, you should still be able to split the drive in terminal using the OCLP installer before you install the OS. Or you may still be able to install the new drive and install and see if the fusion feature still works as is. I have never tested it so I am not sure if that will work but in theory it should work fine. Try it out and let us know. Either way it sounds like the HDD is dead and you will have to install a fresh OS either way.

@@wesleypires6379 if you wipe the internal drive like I do in this video yes it will delete everything. Alternatively you can install it to an external SSD to test it. Or create a partition on the main drive install there and test. Use caution, it did not run well on my 2012. It ran better on my 2013 but Sonoma is graphics intensive so I don’t know how it will run with 2gb card.

@@BadspadeLive Thanks! I've installed Sonoma on an external drive, but didn't get the reboot prompt, tried installing both with and without holding option key, but got errors both times. I'm starting the process from from scratch with a fresh OCLP install hopefully it'll work

@@wesleypires6379 I hope it works for you. OCLP isn’t an exact science. Seems like there are a lot of errors on different systems and as they age it is getting harder for them to patch them.

@@HBKjeffrey please check the OCLP website for compatibility. That model might be too old to support the most up to date OS but you may still be able to run Monterey.

I mean the airplay icon appears, on my old mac, I can see on the Airplay display options my new m3 macbook air but on that new one I am not able to see my old mac nor does airplay icon show up 🤔 if i click connect on my oldmac to the M3, a prompt pops up saying couldnt connect 🤔 it feels like I should be able to airplay my M3 to the old mac otherwise why should it be able to detect the newer macbook and not the otherway around? 😂🤷🏽‍♂️

@@alediazofficial2562 yeah if you open settings on the 2011 and search for airplay receiver. It should pop up. My other airplay video shows you how to enable airplay if it is not already enabled.

@@BadspadeLive I have searched and my mid 2011 doesnt seem to have the airplay receiver option :/ But somehow, I can Airplay my 2011 onto my M# XD idk whats going on haha but i need it to work the other way around! XD

@@gsm-worldsheffield8636 it seems like the thumb drive is not erasing properly. Did you format it beforehand? Try that. If that doesn’t work try a different thumb drive

@@BadspadeLive I have finished installing everything and waiting for the 30 mins download, also downloading opencore as well and it asked me to reboot. But when I reboot it and hold option it just restarts the computer

@@cxupid1456 it sounds like you may have a few steps out of order. First download OCLP and open it to download the OS and create the thumb drive. Then once the thumb drive is created you restart and hold option.

You have to do the same process but when you download just select Ventura.

@@dominic77999 do you boot into Catalina at all? If not you can use disk utility to delete that partition.

@@cyrusnderitu3047 you would need to run OCLP again to the main drive. If you have the install USB use that to boot up but be sure to download the new OCLP. I have not installed Sequoia so I am not sure of the compatibility. Make sure to read up on OCLP website to make sure your computer is compatible.

@@joseerazevedo the Target Display computer definitely needs to be running a supported OS! I personally prefer to keep them both on the same OS to avoid any hiccups. Also the 2011s have quirks I would check the OCLP website to make sure your model iMac is fully supported.

@@saki9797 no I could not find any application to make use of thunderbolt or mini display port. I did find one that uses Ethernet. But it is only 60fps and not good for gaming. Try spacedesk for windows

Yeah its a streamlined version of windows, that you can install anything you want on it.

Yeah the 2011 was an odd year, but thank you for letting the community know your findings. You should still be able to use airplay. Does that work on the 2011?

@falcovd2511 you installed Ventura with OCLP? Airplay should show up. Oh that’s right. Open up settings and search for airplay. It’s turned off by default. You may need a restart

@TOMARFilmsCreations that is very odd. Did you delete it using bootcamp? If you delete from disk utility it should be gone. I would make a new partition where bootcamp used to be to see if that fixes it.

@@Alex-p3n4x what year are your Mac’s? It’s best if they are both Ventura. But if you want one on Sonoma, it can only be the host computer it can not be the TDM. But if they are both Ventura you can go back and forth between Target displays. This will only work with thunderbolt 2, if it has a thunderbolt 3 port it’s most likely not TDM capable

Probably since it runs pretty bad on my 2017, but give it a shot, the creative maps seem to run ok so it would be good for some xp

@@AridersLifeYT I don’t think normal TDM will work for the 2015s you will be stuck with airplay. But might still need to install Ventura with OCLP in order to enable airplay.

@@BadspadeLive yeah sadly i tried and it didn't work, i was hoping the spare 2 imacs i have (2009 and 2015) would at-least work, but id have to sell them to buy a thunderbolt display now. annoying! OR upgrade my entire setup to something like a mac studio with dual thunderbolt displays/

@@AridersLifeYT yeah the different years have different requirements. Actual mileage may vary. But if you have Ventura installed on both. Airplay should work and you can use a USB cable to improve efficiency

@@AridersLifeYT I gotcha, you can run Dual Boot, I did a couple videos on how to dual Boot Windows and Mac. I was running Fortnite and steam on my 2013 iMac for a while. Unfortunately some games may not run well because they need more horsepower

Ventura would be the latest for TDM to work properly and safely I tried Sonoma on my 2012 and it ran like trash, and disabled TDM. So I ended up going back to Ventura. Let me know how it comes out I have not tested either of those models.

Sequoia dropped (not fully) but if it isn’t too much work maybe that could be something to try next as for Sonoma running bad, it’s not noticeable for me

It should work Yes, but Check out my other video on Airplay just got better. You can use a simple USB cable to get more resolution options and no lag. No capture card needed.

The official Apple support page has the identical TDM requirements for both "24-inch and 27-inch iMac models introduced in 2009 and 2010" (ones I'm asking about) and "iMac models introduced in 2011, 2012, 2013, and mid 2014" (ones you featured in this vid) EXCEPT that 2009-10 have Mini Display Port and 2011-14 have Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 listed (so need correct respective cable). I hope to use an OCLP Sonoma 2013 Macbook Pro with TDM on an OCLP Sonoma late-2009 27" iMac. I didn't realize OCLP Sonoma on both could "re-enable" TDM until seeing your vid...

@ShallRemainUnknown actually I found out Sonoma does not work for TDM, I did a video on that as well. Not sure if OCLP forgot about it or they could not include it. Stick with Ventura as your Target display OS. Sonoma can be the Host computer but not the target display.
