This forumla was helpful. I'm tempted to try it myself (because I never learn) but I have about 8 months of natural growth so am worried. My natural colour is a 7a with old balayage from corrective last year but for the price of the dyes I might as well just put that towards a salon. But... I could just do it myself maybe. Ugh no. Someone stop me.

Girl you are seriously a scientist!! I’ve got grays (bout 25%) and I already have the coppery brownish lowlights and wanting to stay warm. I’ve got all of my shades Eq colors and so excited to try my potions!! You inspire me to use my balayage/baby lowlights for my beautiful chocolate shade!!

My deal is I have Redken shades Eq for my ends that I get what your saying but I have about 25% gray around sides, crown. Would you use permanent or shades to blend roots?

I’m trying to get this brown color on my hair

Had too dark of base broken up with lightener. Tone is really warm. How can I get it more cool/neutral? Since it has a toner-which gives it the gold/warmth, do I need to color fill to get back to a cooler brown?

At 14:00 This is the part that is I find hardest. We want to put red.. but in a formula of 75 grams total right do we put 25g copper 25g gold 25g red? No bc too much red ? Is there a rule of thumb for Portions of underlying pigments ? For ex. 10g red 25g copper 40g gold.. know I mean?

After all the videos I've watched, this is starting on point....let's see how it goes! Natural 5-6 with 4.5 roots - Natural highlights between 7-9 based on sun. My Natural color washes me out. Too warm. I need to go darker ash with very ashy highlights or grey/silver highlights. Done my hair at home before, but doing a base color melt with balayage highlights and a single money piece is feeling overwhelming now that is time. I've done my kids hair successfully many times - especially color melts with fun colors. My son has very wavy hair, down to his nipples, and under cut he likes to keep blonde. He refuses to tone. Last night I did it the right way. Bleached the undercut, toned with Wella T10 and 050 and it looks amazing. Finally. No more yellow blonde he thought was acceptable! This week my daughter. She is a natural 6 at roots but keeps getting darker like mine did (we were definitely dirty blondes as kids). She has a lot of highlights and she hates them, wants to go darker. So color melt from the end of natural color to wella 8a to roughly 3 inches which will be left out to tone with wella t15 and a smidge of 050. Excited for that so much. Overwhelmed doing it all alone on myself. No lie - the anxiety is high right now!

I recently had this done and it worked like a charm! In fact my profile pic shows the B&A! I'm a natural level 7.5N. I think she toned me about 4x to fill using mostly goldwell and then finished with some shades eq on top to find the end result. I wanted to be about a 6.5 ashy/ neutral light brown but when I started pulling muddy mucky gray green in my ends even with all that warm toning she had to go darker with the final gloss. My hair is notorious for not holding color even when healthy and so we both assumed I'd be back to get reglossed within weeks. But nope! After 3 montths my natural blonde root was back in a bit and I had faded to a dark Irish setter auburn that honestly looked great on me but that was nowhere near my natural tone and my goal here was to grow out my own hair bc it's been so long since I've even seen the natural color. So she just recently retoned me only this time she went with a lighter gloss in a shade closer to my own tone so that as I keep growing in the line of demarcation wont be so severe. The beauty with just toning is that my hair is also getting so much healthier as it grows in. FWIW- I have a TON of fine moderately damaged hair, about a 2c/3a curl in the under 2/3 and only about a 1c wave in the crown. My pic is where we started and the results from the initial brunetting. Im about 1 level lighter with slightly more neutral tone now.
