Honestly would’ve been a lot more easier especially when getting the goddamn Doomsday Apparatus…
Been there. Done that.
I use Linux exclusively now but I remember trying to install THAT version of Ubuntu and as a MS user,I was totally lost. I guess either I have gotten smarter in my old age or Linux has become more user friendly.
Honestly I think it's simply because Linux has just gotten so much better. Plus now is a good time for the state of Linux to be what it's at if you think about it. Bbecause not only is Windows 11 garbage, but now Linux is actually not only usable to an average user, but also good when it comes to many other tasks like gaming, . Especially if you use distros like Mint or MX. This means the Linux community will only continue to grow.
@@twistyjoygaming422 Mint was my go to when Win 7 support ended-had used it for a few years on and off before that-mint 17.2 was my first,I believe.
why in gods name did the gnometris creators put 11 columns
To be honest, I'm not sure!
QEMU + KVM with virt-manager is the best virtualization solution for Linux. (Except when you need hardware acceleration without a second GPU)
next up try the first release of debian so you go even older
Man do I have to try that. That sounds even more interesting.
Well this is strange, first version is 4.2!, what happened to 1.0, anyway this ver, 4.2, way too many silly games, but an interesting look anyway
The only positive thing I can say about this video is the segmentation that allows me to click through it to see what you're looking at, which is: Gnome Games. If you looked at literally any other Linux distribution of that era, you would have seen the exact same thing. I'm not sure if Sun opensourced Solaris at that time, but that too would have looked the same and had the same calculator and games. What a waste of time.
132MB ram used... oof modern distros (like 10x the ram use or more is the norm now) And Ubuntu was a pretty heavy distro even at launch compared to other distros like slackware or arch that I was using (Arch could boot with 16MBram to the command prompt and a desktop in a few more tens of MB definiitely would work fine with 64MB + swap back then).
While it is first Ubuntu version, you have to remember that Ubuntu at that point was just re-branded Debian (a fork). Debian was already 10 years old. And yes there is a package manager, the APT, just no "apt" command because that is fairly new. apt-get is a wrapper for dpkg (both should exists at this point). Imagine that Debian is going to release apt 3.0 very soon. These early versions are like nearly 1:1 to Debian with few config changes and different take on free software. In fact there used to be meme that "Ubuntu is for people who don't know how to configure Debian". Also the Firefox isn't beta here, it's been years stable when you see it here. The versioning just starts from 0 meaning first release. On top of that, it is based on another project (Firebird) that turned into Phoenix but had to re-brand into Firefox, so it's not even first first version. Soo at this point it is just a Debian with Gnome with Ubuntu wallpaper.
Pretty Much. But man is it nostalgic. It's weird too because I've heard of Ubuntu back in 2006, but I never used it til just 4 years ago. But it still feels nostalgic for some reason. I don't know why, the appearance, the programs, I'm not sure.
Well it is an era where Gnome used to still be good. Not fan of the new spin. And Ubuntu used to be one of those distros that started to mainstream Linux on desktop space. The biggest contributing point was maybe how they made the install process easier compared to many other distros. Debian wasn't tricky to install either but I guess the ncurses method looked scary and it has choices. Ubuntu was more of next next type of deal.
Wasn't it apt-get instead of apt back then? I remember using Ubuntu 9.10 (my first Linux experience) and that was the old command. Just apt is a more recent thing. It's still nostalgic to watch this, even though I never used this particular version :)
please for the love of fried chicken don’t make the music louder than your voice and turn up your mic audio
Yeah I guess it didn't help that the microphone was too far from my face, but I will definitely try to do better in the future.
The good old days of Linux when it was seat of the pants stuff.
Indeed! It was definitely not as polished as it is today, but looking back, it definitely gives me that nostalgic feeling. I don't know why.
the mattkc music goes so hard
I think you accidentally made the actual modern Ubuntu color gradient (not exactly the same but very recognizable)
I can see people who want the support of modern apps but still want to use windows xp use those isos
for gods sake get a new mic and run your voice in an app that removes voice and increases quality, great videos tho
Finally, something secure to make memes on, while looking like its from 2006
Can't agree with you more! It's even got friggin movie maker. I mean how amazing is that!
video OST reminded me of MattKC, but still nice video
Yeah most of the music MattKC used in his vids as well, except for the Bomber Man Jetters music. I loved the music MattKC used as well. That chiptune keygen music. Glad you liked the video as well!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
resource usage? is it a good solution for a retro gaming PC?
I assume if it’s just windows 10 with different U.I then it’s not much different than regular windows
how tf is this so well edited but unpopular?
Tbh, I'm not even sure. Glad you enjoyed the video! Feel free to share it as well!
You are the worst minesweeper player I’ve ever seen, it’s not that hard
Agreed!
Fun fact: you can get pretty close to the classic XP look on windows ten and I *think* windows 11 using a program called Windowblinds for the main UI and Classic/OpenShell for the start menu. You don't need to fiddle with isos! There are also many plugins for chrome/fireflox that allow you to make certain sites look older- I have one that makes Roblox and TH-cam both follow older site layouts.
Tiny 11 is a fucking waste of time and not needed anymore with today's fast processor and SSD. The thing is many of the apps and shit removed will revert back when you update, and that is IF you can update, so you are wasting your time basically with that shit.
if you like Irfanview ,try MPC-BE instead of VLC ;-)
05:47 At one point Microsoft thought about what if they remove the "control panel" leaving the new "settings" only, but then it turned out that wouldn't be good, so they just kept both instead.
blud forgor about WINDOWS X LITE BUILDS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good stuff man, I love your energy. I feel like you're gonna go places
Thanks! Seeing comments like this make me wanna keep going with this channel and I really appreciate it a ton.
i love the x-lite 11
How do i reinstall windows defender on tiny11
You should see if there is a windows 10 version/equivalent because some game still run better on 10
the same developer also made tiny10.

nice video keep it up 😀
Thanks! I got more coming!
But why not use a Windows media player? I mean it's ok if you have all the codecs installed, I always have used windows media player
Really the big problem with WMP is that it is super-outdated compared to say foobar and VLC when it comes to features. WMP is very limted, and only supports certain file formats.
@@twistyjoygaming422 well, if you have codecs then it WMP will play any format, and idk what features not present in WMP because it plays media and this is enough
That is true. It does play stuff from well-known formats like WMV, MP3, etc. But if say for example you want VGM Playback or want to use a soundfont with MIDI Playback. WMP is not my choice. For me, I like to use foobar2000 for music and VLC for video formats. Which I know sounds inconvenient but I think these do so much more, I just use these instead. Plus since these projects are open source, they are implementing more features each week. For instance, in VLC you can rotate the picture if needed, or you can convert a video file to another format. Same thing with foobar. You can convert a WAV to OGG if you want. And that's just scratching the surface. Then you look at WMP and it's just a more limited version of these better alternatives. That's just my opinion though.
Don't listen to the shit comments. OS exploration is fun the more and more you get into it. I use VirtualBox primarily and haven't had much of an issue. Assign cores, be generous with the RAM, allocate VRAM and (for the love of god this is the number one bane of distro hoppers and OS testers) turn on 3D acceleration and mount VirtualBox Extensions. Also change the virtualization to Hyper-V. I don't mean for this to come off as strict-as-hell instructions but 99.99% of virtualization users don't tweak their stuff. Just spreading the word.
Agreed. That's what I always do. I make sure 3d Acceleration is enabled. I make sure it uses the right amount of RAM and CPU Cores.
You can try changing the network adapter settings in Virtualbox settings -> network -> advanced and try to change the network card type, sometimes there are drivers for the other options
I did, but it didn't make a dent. I'm not sure if it's either this custom ISO or it could be Virtualbox on Linux being crap.
@@twistyjoygaming422 it's virtualbox. I had this issues on windows too with my vms. a lot of isos only work on vmware for me
good video but your audio is insanely quiet
Thank you for letting me know. In the future I will definitely turn up the volume. Been trying to figure out which audio level is good.
move the camera away from the wall man and give your arm space to move
He homies with the wall, maybe he cool chilling with the wall
I had the same issue, expect mine was the touchpad on legit copy because of the drivers.
i used virtual box on windows 10/11 its fine, probably the shit port to linux🤷
I wouldn't be remotely shocked. It's the same program that freezes when you're in full-screen in Linux for some reason. Yeah I moved to Vmware because I finally fixed the issues I was having with installing it. From this point, I will be using Vmware or QEMU.
true, virtualbox IS shit
Agreed. That's why I went back to VMware immediately after I fixed an issue I had with installing it. It's still not technically the best option, but it's much more stable compared to Virtualbox.
