Thruxton R Ride just to Burn Gas
I'm out today riding my Triumph Thruxton R to keep the gas from getting old in the tank. I don't ride it very often but, when I do it reminds me what a perfect motorcycle it is in every way. This is the top tier of modern classic motorcycles.

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer lunch ride to Zinnia's Dinette

This is our weekly lunch ride to Zinnia's Dinette in Craryville NY. This restaurant specializes in Seafood. I'm ALL about seafood!! I was like, how good can it be being so far inland and in the middle of nowhere? I am a connoisseur of fried clams and raw oysters. I judge real seafood restaurants by how good their fried clams are, preferably whole belly clams. I ordered their whole belly fried c...

Totally agree, the odometer should be displayed, at least when turning on or off for a few seconds at least. I am almost finished running my 2024 Explorer in, and its a PITA to keep having to go hunting for the mileage. Apart from that, its an awesome bike.

I bought mine a year ago, it was 7 years old and had been ridden only 2,700 KMs. Now approaching 18,000. Yes I ride to burn gas but also go to a shop. That's a round trip of 30 miles. On a narrow backroad, With straights and twists. These well engineered bikes are a lot of fun. I like the low revving motor with enough torque. Its a light bike with excellent handling. I put T120 gearing on it and it lopes along at low revs, 3300 at 65 mph.

The wind deflector is made by MRA in Germany and it's the X-Creen Sport Universal Mount. It is a "Must Have" and it has been on all my Tigers. It is the best on the market. Because the screen tilts and can be moved up and down, you adjust it to where you want the wind to go. It looks low on my windshield but it is adjusted so the wind is going about a foot over my helmet with the main windshield all the way down. Check out my "Triumph 2023 Tiger 1200 GT Explorer Add Ons" video and it's near the end.

I'm another one that doesn't miss the odo. I don't even think about it. I DO have some dash dislikes though... 1. Display icons move around. Surely with all that acreage they could have put warning/status icons etc in the same place irrespective of display mode? 2. Some of the info is unnecessarily large. e.g. TPMS display is huge. Fuel info is oversized. I tend to just prefer the simple display as too much info on the screen is distracting. In that respect I think it's good that Triumph didn't try to cram too much on the one display.

    • @ttrguy9952

I'm used to the work around for the ODO now. Yes, the screen moves to the left and squishes to see the TPMS and Fuel status menu but I am also used to that. The display to me is perfect being very nice to read and simple. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

I LOVE that Tiger growl, sounds much better than the BMWs boxers in my opinion. I'm definitely interested in switching to a Tiger 1200 next year but I'm not too sure if GT Explorer is the one I'd pick or just a GT PRO, I guess I'd need to test ride both if possible and then make my choice. Safe rides!

Then again - I've watched plenty of reviews that the Tiger 1200 line is very well balanced and it just wants to be turned in corners. Can't wait for next season to get my hands on it. I don't understand why you would constantly need to know what your odometer says. Other than for service intervals, or to post the mileage in an ad if you sell the bike, it seems pretty irrelevant. I think a lot of people are just used to seeing that in their car, but really...how important is it? Personally, I prefer a cleaner dash, without unnecessary info on it.
