Last drive in my D-1X Procharged C5 Corvette Z06 before I put the hood back on, took the opportunity to test out my new mic. Had it pointed right at the head unit. My Big Red Race valve is underneath the passenger headlight so it's pretty noisy as well.

Finally properly diagnosed the cause of my belt slip and belt wear that I've been running into on my D1X Procharged Corvette Z06. I wanted to replace the grade 5 bolt on my manual tensioner with a grade 8. This particular bolt is used to rotate the tensioner to move it into place and apply pressure while you tighten everything down. Yo bro what’s your cam specs?
Right now I'm running a 224/240 116+5. About to swap to the BTR Red Hot cam though.
@ that’s exactly what I’m thinking about getting, I wish there were more choppy supercharger cams with a lower LSA but I guess that’s just something you can’t have with a centrifugal supercharger system
@@baileymeasells6325 Yeah with centrifugal blower cams you need quite a bit more exhaust duration than intake duration and trying to get that with a tight LSA without having too much overlap is impossible. My current cam literally has 0 overlap which was fine when I had the little P-1sc1. But with the D1X, I need to evacuate the exhaust a lot better. The Red Hot h as 8.5 degree's of overlap and has an earlier intake valve close so I suspect it will pick up power through the entire power curve.
One bad ass supercharger
Is this stock besides to boost kit? Or other mods? How much you making?
It's a 347 with forged rods and pistons, ported 243's, BTR equalizer, LS2 throttle body. I'm still tuning it, albeit slowly. Hit 20lbs today at 6400rpm. It should make 900whp with E85 and some timing thrown at it.
Put out a video about your car we all wana know!!!
Like an in depth build rundown? That sounds like a good idea! I'll work on it, thanks for commenting!

THOSE ARE TURBO NOT SUPERCHARGERS DUH
No, its a belt driven centrifugal supercharger (procharger)
Definitely a not a turbo lol. I am my own mechanic and it's my car, I think id know. lol
I would get in trouble with that beast! Nice rig

Car looks awsome I race a 650 HP naturally aspirated, 402 CI, C5 Z06 that’s black with the same hood vents. My car is lowered, front splitter and rear spoiler, Roll bar with harnesses. Just had to get new tires and I had spark plugs and coils replaced. I also need a tune now. I need to do your headlights. What do you figure your HP is now?
@@craigthescott5074 Thanks! I’m still sorting it out but it should make 750whp on pump gas, 850-900whp on E85. Sometimes I wish I would have stayed with a simple NA setup lol.
@@C5Z06CarGuy Yea but that’s a big difference in HP. I was also thinking about switching to E85. Are you tracking you car or street only?

my slide stop on my mp9 shield plus is actually really difficult to release even on a full mag or empty mag well. i just sling shot it to load
As you should
I bought a shield plus yesterday and it has a slight issue. The tab that locks the slide back has a worn spot on it causing it not to catch 90% of the time after last round fired. Or when it's empty and has a mag in it will rarely lock back. I have a new slide lock coming. Hopefully that will solve it. It's a great little pistol.
Used I'm guessing?
@C5Z06CarGuy yes but barely. It was a good deal. I only paid $400 it came with 15 round mag and the 10 & 13 rounder. Came with optic ready slide and and the regular slide. Both with night sights.
It will always be a slide stop/slide lock because that's the main purpose.
That's like saying a fishing poles main purpose is to cast bait, and then calling it a bait caster. Then ignoring the fact that it's also used to manipulate and control the bait, and reel in your catch. I don't care what people label the lever or call it. But it's both a slide lock and slide release, because those are both it's main purposes.
@@C5Z06CarGuy it has to lock the slide before you can release it. Locking is the primary function: while checking the chamber or staying open on the last round. Not all are designed as a release. The M&P 2.0 cannot be released, only by racking over the top.

Dude, this thing sounds glorious. What a characterful engine. I love the smooth look of the pop-ups on the C5 but I honestly love what you did here having the headlights be exposed. Looks reminiscent of the C5.R race car, and combined with the tasteful hood vents and those beautiful wheels this is one sweet looking car
Thanks! That means a lot coming from someone literally working in the automotive design industry. I actually prefer the pop up headlights, I really did it for weight and aerodynamic reasons. The weight savings I got from switching to the Stealth Light Cannons, offset the added front end weight of my front mount intercooler. The light difference is pretty substantial too. I don't do it much these days, but in the past when I would do late night street racing, the pop up headlights made the car feel a bit unstable at high speed due to front end lift.
How handy is that!!!
What a terrific tool!!
Great idea!
you've had a c5 z06 for 10 years, respect
Bought it in 2012! Even if I became a billionaire, I'd never sell it.

If I was a rich man I would buy every exhaust system on the market and just rotate them every so often.
@@C5Z06CarGuy Im with you on that. Id ideally like to do some kind of custom valved setup like drivehub did to his C5.
This looks like the same car i almost bought when deciding on a vehicle. Yellow c5 Z06 with red z06 accents all over the interior. Cant remember if it was red interior or not, but i ended up getting a S197 Mustang GT instead. Overall its just a better daily driver and the ride height helps to drive confidently over bad road conditions. I still really want a C5 Z06, but i think i would get a C6 convertible, if i had to choose one without a back seat. If i had enough money I'd have one of every model and color combo lol. I love the raw feel of American sports cars.
The Corvette's suspension is adjustable so you can raise it up, but they just look funny after you do it. They definitely struggle a lot more with ground clearance when compared to the Mustang. As for convertibles, besides the C5 and C6 Z06's, even the coupes are actually targa tops. Btw i'm a fan of Mustangs too, I have an SN95 4V Cobra i'm working on to be my daily :)
@@C5Z06CarGuy I didn't know the Z06 had ride height adjustment. I had seen some with airbag lift in the front, if I recall correctly, but that's about it. Does it come with coilovers or something? I gotta ask tho why'd you ditch the popup headlight they were my favorite part of that car lol
@@Greatest_Scott It stems from the Corvette having a transverse leaf spring that rides on a bolt for each side. You can turn the bolts to adjust the ride height, and you can even install different bolts if you want more adjustment. Most often people install bolts that allow you to go lower. I went with these headlights for better aerodynamics at night, they dramatically reduce front end lift. Weight reduction (11 lbs per side if memory serves), and better light output.
@@C5Z06CarGuy hey thanks for all that information. I literally switched from your video to a C5 ride height adjustment video where they showed exactly that hahaha. Seriously appreciate you I never knew that One thing that I was left pondering though after watching them lower the car by increasing the bolt length, wouldn't that put a ton of extra pressure on the bolt? I guess they designed it in a way that it's not a stress point, but that looked kinda scary. I forgot about the leaf springs, that was part of my decision for the Mustang - "Do I want Live/Solid Rear Axel or do I want leaf springs? 🤔" Haha I went with the LRA Mustang because I thought it would be more ideal for launching street lights. The way those Vettes launch though, makes me think they might have a better chassis for putting the power down. I think I can fix the problem with some 10.5" rear wheels. What size wheels /tires do you run just curious?
@@Greatest_Scott You're welcome! So I wouldn't think the tensional force would change at all when you adjust the suspension, I've never heard about anyone breaking a bolt either so it must not be an issue. One reason the Vette's hook pretty well, is because of their nearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution. What most people don't realize, is that starting with the C5, the transmission was moved to the rear of the car. It bolts directly to the rear differential, and the shifter is located on the torque tube and there's a linkage that connects it to the transmission in the rear. So my street wheels as of right now are 17X9.5 in the front and 17X11 in the rear Nitto NT555G2, and my business wheels are a CCW drag pack also with an M&H Racemaster cheater slick.
Sounds fast...love the color!!!

Mine is impossible to move without first pushing the slide to the rear to disengage it from the pressure of the spring. Actually it surprised me a little but it is a nice safety idea.
Is that with a loaded magazine inserted?
@@C5Z06CarGuy It's hard to actuate with or without the mag. When I disassemble the pistol it's easy to actuate.
@@58landmanNot just a mag though, a loaded mag. Is it still difficult then?
@@C5Z06CarGuy Yeah, doesn't matter if the pistol has a mag or not, that little mag release feature is just hard to actuate. It might loosen up after a few thousand rounds but that prob won't come in my lifetime. I can live with it but my other pistols don't present that problem. I'll prob let a gun smith take a look at eventually.

@@C5Z06CarGuythat sucks man. That has happened to me once before, I understand the frustration. Well, hope it all works out for you.
Myself its small and barely there its a slide lock if its long and big spot for your thumb to hit then its a slide release
Try ordering a slide lock from sig for a 320 axg guy on the phone said you mean slide release. Glock calls it slide lock.
Yeah they all have different names for it. Glock actually refers to it as a "slide stop lever" in the owners manual.
Fde 😍
LOL yeah for whatever reason I wasn't even interested in buying on of these little shields until I saw it in FDE. Such an attractive little gun.
IT IS NOT A SLIDE RELEASE! Sure it can release a slide but ITS NOT A RELEASE
Yes it is. Just depends on what the manufacturer wants to call it. Heckler & Koch calls it a slide release. Others don't. They all do the same thing, it locks and or releases the slide.
The slide release works fine actually surprised how easy the 🛡+ was to rack for a micro I was literally just handling Gen 5 G26 vs 🛡+ and hands down the 🛡+ wins especially with the flush 10rd in comparison
Do you use it to release the slide? Yes, you do, it is a slide release and a slide stop and a slidelock. It all depends on what you wanna call it. Because it does all of those things.
Yep, problem is there's a lot of people making youtube videos about the shield, saying that it's ONLY a slide lock, and not supposed to be used to release the slide. Their confusing comes from it not being easy to operate on a brand new shield, and the instruction manual labels it a slide lock.
Sooo I have an m&p 2.0 9mm and an m&p 22 that doesn't have this issue . So why this one?
What is the difference?
None.
