Camper Van Conversion: Structural Mistakes to Avoid & Cabinetry Basics / Drawers
Beautiful buildout of an NV. I recently finished one myself and am always surprised how few of the Nissan NVs are converted to campers? I've owned a Ford, Chevy, and Ram in the past and the Nissan blows them away IMO. Sad to see that they have discontinued them. However, I expect my 2017 to be rolling for years to come.
Is this the NV1500 model?
She said v8, so might be the 2500HD
Would love to get Joel to do my NV.
I have the same van and wanting to convert mine. Love how simple and clean yours is. Great job.
Do you have other floor plans?
I really wanted to see how you built these. Dang. Then I saw 28 seconds .
I can see the difference between building for others and building for yourself. You tend to do a better job for sure even if it’s takes tons of time.
I’ve been looking for a project just like what you have.
I’m into sitting in my comfortable chairs and relaxing. So I built my van around my bed with chairs underneath.
Appreciate your attention to extreme detail on latching. I think I’ll keep using magnets, lol. But I’m not building for others. Just me.
Very nice and simple build.
Beautiful work and van!
Please try a better Lense. This fisheye is weird.
I am binging on your videos right now Sir... In your expertise... I have a class b van with wood door drawer faces but the rest is engineered wood... I would like to keep the wood but is there anything lighter than the engineered wood... I want to CCW for toys like kayak... surfboard etc.. Thank you
If you put your notch closer to the point it will give you less variation in your dots when you transfer. This is because the moment from notch to point is shorter and any slight movement of the stick when you transfer is less magnified.
Didn’t think about that but I can see why your right. Thank you!
@@northcountryvansVery much enjoyed your technique, thank you for sharing. Oops "...why your right..." should be "...why you are or you're correct..." an all-too-common mistake. When spoken your and you're sound the same. When written your and you're have nothing in common, each having different meanings and usages. Hope this helps you and others.
Thank you for demonstrating and sharing an easy solution for locating the holes in the furring strips. Cheers!
How tall are you sir?
6’
Does the couch have any seatbelts to ride more than 2?
Yes, at least 2 seatbelts but we’ve never used them so I think that’s it. We think this is a perfect Class B for a small family (2 adults and 2 children).
Too much waffle and you should just get on with the tick stick
Your absolutely right, too much waffle! I encourage you to make a better video, we’re all here to learn from each other and could use more of your input! Thanks for watching.
awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
That is sooooo cool!
Thanks!
Well thought out. Very cool set up
Thank you
I need to buy this set for my box truck over the dang 5 th wheel! How to order ?😅
Thanks for your sharing, this is useful ! 👌
Glad it was helpful!
This was perfect timing! I have the same type of van with the metal cage and I was trying to figure out what to do with it. After seeing yours I think I might just leave it open! Also love the setup overall
Thanks!
Best dinette conversion I've ever seen! Do you share the plans, or do you have a video of the build?
Thank you! This is a custom design and build, but we would be happy to do another for a client interested in something similar. Please reach out to northcountryvans@gmail.com to learn more about the process for us to design and build this dinette conversion in your van.
@@northcountryvans how much is the cost for dinette conversion if you don't mind me asking?
@@northcountryvanswould you sell the design on its own? we live in the UK and are trying to figure out how to do something similar
Great instructional video! We love watching your build...You are a master woodworker!
Wow...Fantastic end result. The walls look great!
Great explanation of the subfloor build...Good work demonstrating the installation!
ingenious old world tool!
A van, a dog and… a motorcycle! 👍😎💪 One of the best van I’ve seen.👍
hi i have a 1989 one it took me 5 years to find its the same floor plane as yours
What a great build!!! For the black frame was that to add structure/ rigidity for mounting everything else? And did you fabricate it yourself or find a shop. Either way this is hands down my favorite build out style!!!!
Love a medium high topper. I have a few passenger, and a few ambos. The stainless access bars at side door are nice. I save those when one departs my place. Source some hindged side and rear windows at a scrap yard.
Just subbed …that 80/20 is amazing stuff great work!!
Nice build. I like the 80/20 aluminum + nicely finished plywood cabinet construction scheme.
YOU ~ ROCK ! !
Wow! That is a lot of hard work. Great job...looks nice.
Very nice
Can someone 6 4 stay in this comfortably
Not sure the roof is tall enough to stand straight, but the upper bed would be long enough.
Well done I think you are on your way to some great times be safe have fun take good care of that puppy later
awesome tour :) been wanting one of these, really cool to hear your perspective
Nice job!
Thank you!
Very nice set up?
Not a common setup you find in vans but it worked great for us!
Dammit boy!! 👍🏿👍🏿
Functions with a buddy...
We have the exact same van :D Mine's a 1997, but SO much is the same as far as the layout goes. Not finished with this though, but you had an idea that's been on my mind, so I wanted to ask.. The dog platform for the passenger seat, how did you go about making sure it was stable? I have a German Shepherd/Lab/Husky mix, and he'll definitely need that space once we're on the road. Thanks! Great build, too!
Stability is needed with our big dogs! Ours happens to be a shepherd/husky cross too. The back of the platform rested on the back of the seat, then the other three sides were full length to the floor, fitting exactly into the shape of the floor to avoid instability. The seat also had to be in a specific position to ensure the appropriate fit. No pressure is placed on the center of the seat, which comes in handy when trying to avoid an airbag being turned on.
That looks like exactly what I am envisioning for my 96 Ford van. I would really like to see how you set up the folding bed.
The bed was built on an 80/20 aluminum frame, folding up/down. We don’t have a video of it in action, but more pictures of this van are available on our Facebook page that might give you some more guidance.
Great video!.. What beautiful scenery of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the winter...Congratulations to you tough Michiganders!
Thank you very much!
Love the bed cubby and reading lights.. really nice woodwork Never thought about the wall material last and floors- true about expanding material- especially in temperature variations like us in Canada 🇨🇦 Ce injected from the Facebook group
Thanks guys!
