    Linguistically, Chinese is not a language, but a language family(Sinitic language family). And Mandarin is not a standard dialect, it's a language and it has its own dialects, which are even not mutually intelligible. The mutual intelligibility between Mandarin and Cantonese(almost 0%) is way more low then between Russian and Ukrainian (about 70%).

    I have some additional recourses for you if you like mandarin content. For natural life spoken language blogs we have " Katherines Journey to the west" her chanel focuses on natural spoken language and Katherine has lived in China for 9 or so years. she's very high level with speaking. if you want educational content, theres "sys mandarin" which has a chinese teacher who explains everything in chinese which helps with comprehension. there's "blondie in china" for her food reviews, Amy lives in china now with her husband derk and do entertaining videos usually pertaining to Chinese food. i have more but im running out of space.. keep up the good work

    in chinese there isn't alphabet, no hangul alphabet like korean, you just have to write chinese words and memorize the pronunciation so that's why writing is important in chinese, and memorize by heart that's all and there is less grammar so chinese writing isn't really difficult if you understand how to write. Korean is different, it has alphabet and when you learn hangul alphabet you will know how to read with also pronunciation changing rules but in Chinese no, there isn't alphabet, you memorize just words by words that's all. And for korean, i have been watched kdrama since 15 years and i know à lot of vocabulary thanks to kdrama and i notice for korean i have more a listening memory than writing memory. It's useless for me to write a list of vocabulary i won't memorize it and i tried flashcard it's useless for me but by listening and watching kdrama and some tv show i remember so many words effortless

    Great tips there Alina. Even learning how to learn Chinese is a constantly changing process. All the channels you recommend have their own special value. Grace is very good for succinct grammar points. For ordinary speaking and glimpses of everyday life and thinking in China I’m a big fan of Chinese Mandarin Cherry. She also does online lessons. One tip though for you as an English teacher - work on your short i sound. Make it short - shorter than you probably think you should. It’s video not veedeo etc. You share this problem with many Asian language native speakers and to native English speakers it really sticks out. Otherwise I like your native accent.

    I agree with your suggestion Alina because it is based on practical reasoning. I am Indian, so I already know Hindi and English very well. However, besides these two languages, I am confused about which language would be more beneficial for me-German or Japanese-for studies or job opportunities. Both Germany and Japan offer significant opportunities for Indian students.

      As a german who learns Japanese I´d say German is a little easier when it comes to the alphabet and it´s grammar or sentence structure is more similar to English. But I like Japanese too, that´s why I´m learning it lol so please let me know wich one you´ll choose in the end

    • @amarsaxena1010
      @amarsaxena1010 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@flying_balloon1mango I think I will learn German because: 1. Germany has strong ties with the USA, making the transition easier. 2. Germany offers more English-friendly opportunities, especially in tech. 3. It is relatively easy to learn compared to some other languages; I need to dedicate around 200-250 hours to achieve A2 level proficiency. But why are you learning Japanese? Is it because of anime or for work-related reasons? Personally, I hate learning languages because they feel like a waste of time. If I dedicated that much time to entrepreneurship, I would be much happier.

    • @alinaslearningcorner
      @alinaslearningcorner 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment! Both German and Japanese are excellent choices, but the best option depends on your goals. If you're considering higher education, Germany offers many affordable or free programs in English and German, especially in engineering and STEM fields. For tech, robotics, or innovation, Japan could be ideal, though language proficiency is usually more critical there. Think about where you'd like to study or work and which culture excites you most-that can help you decide! Best of luck! 😊

    Useless video. You are talking about languages as if one can acquire them in mere seconds. Also people have to speak English to understand this video in the first place. Most of the starter languages are French Spanish Italian and or German for most people and If they are into anime people usually start with Japanese. People already know where to start and that's why this video is truly illogical. Your video might be of interest to someone who'll download couple of kids who download language learning apps to flex on their friends but it won't reach beyond that. Good advices overall. I learned Chinese for 10 years and here is what I would change if I went back in time to start learning Chinese again: 1- I would first look into how the Chinese characters work and how they were created, their structure, origins etc before actually learning Chinese.Because I was taught in the traditional way, and we had to just write each character several times to memorize, which obviously doesn't help much. Because of this learning method, Chinese characters were a complete nonsense to me back then. Only much later I found out about the fascinating history and linguistics behind the Chinese characters so I kinda regret I didn't know those stuff earlier. Otherwise my progress would be much faster. 2- I would rely on myself more than the class. In my first years of learning Chinese in my hometown, we had only 2 hours of Chinese classes per week, which obviously meant extremely slow progress, so I did the mistake of going with the rythm of the class instead of doing more individual work, which held me back a lot.

      Thanks for sharing your points! I also think that understanding radicals and the history behind the characters helps a lot
