Hello Talia Fox hello anyway I just want to say something to you just for fun You're gonna need a bigger boat Jaws (1975) my all time favorite Summer monster movie and as a 90s kid and an early 2000s kid I am so glad I grew up with this movie instead of the movies being made these days as well:).

I resonate so much with what you’re saying about “censoring” yourself in order to protect or control your future (or your present). As someone who is also on a journey to try to sync more with my body and my emotions, i really really appreciate your content. Thank you!!

Love! this sharing. Recovering people pleaser here haha! Very heavily relate on the texting thing and in some other areas.... <3. I believe in you, dating is hard, you got this. You want someone who's understanding and willing to accommodate a bit (as with you, them, eventually..... but not a TON in the beginning.). Better to know what each other values, and weather you as you are right now aligns with that, but if not, then it probably is not a good fit. Love you prioritizing yourself and your needs. Dating is supposed to be fun! especially in the beginning

I'll play devil's advocate here, and may sound harsh, but in order to move forward you need to take total responsibility for your actions. When you don't reply to texts on a consistent basis (not saying it needs to be right away), you create confusion. It is only natural that then you receive back that confusion and find yourself in that state. By not replying and by not being straightforward to agree on a time and place you are trying to retain some control, a little open door through which you can escape. What you need to work on is knowing what you really want and asserting it firmly but not aggressively; not on "not feeling guilty" when this happens. I am much older than you but experience the same "what is me and what is the other, what is a boundary vs. what is pure selfishness" etc. Part of the guilt arises from the tug of war between what you really want and pleasing the other person (when you don't really want to), and from communicating your needs poorly. If you're sure and you're clear, you don't feel guilty even if you disappoint the other person. Anyway, my two cents. Best of luck!

I really liked what you said about asking your body whether you went on the date or not mattered, working through stuff and not needing to know what it is, just listen to your body. I never thought about it like that. I've only checked in with my body for simple care stuff like "what do I need?" but you're right, there's so much more information there! Lately, it's like my body is craving community, dance, improv - anything to move and connect and be artistic with my being, but my anxiety and overthinking is keeping me at home. I can feel it shifting and becoming more possible, but I haven't broke out yet.

You seem to be very self aware about your actions and very emotionally mature. The guy your describing sounds very indecisive and not direct with his communication. You also told him your not that great when it comes to texting etc so he should've been more accommodating to you, asking you to come to him is really weird because you don't even know each other. It should be 50/50 when dating and getting to know each other, you were uncomfortable from the start and that should have been known to him... 1-2 hour drive is insane for him to think that's okay for a first meeting/date. Not okay. Then to insinuate your not making an effort? lol that's so crazy. Big no. In my opinion always let your emotions and feelings be known regardless of how the other person perceives you. Because if you can't, the other person will just assume everything is okay and nothing is wrong which then turns to conflict down the road. My advice would be to always be yourself and listen to your emotions. I went on this date once and they were nice and kind but sometimes it's not enough, there needs to be strong attraction. Modern dating now days is horrific from what I hear it's very transactional from both ends, extremely difficult to find someone that just wants you for who you are not what you can bring. But honestly you seem like a very cool level headed person and I'm sure it'll get easier.

This was an interesting listen both personally and as a coach. I tell clients, when you’re unsure what to do, especially when caught in a choose a or b trap, do nothing. Because the only way out of the prison of our conditioning is to stop actively participating in it. That’s exactly what you did. You listened to the little voice saying there is no problem. Do nothing. So what you want. And your life moved around you differently because you were allowing reality to just be. Very interesting case study in surrender. Personally this resonates too because I’m getting to the root of my own trauma that keeps me from allowing myself to be the leader I’m called to be. It’s like having to surrender to that awkward situation with the date but with thousands of people all at once. With the whole world all at once. But the beauty of surrender is that it’s about you and you alone. The notion that surrender to dating awkwardness is different in kind or magnitude than surrender to a calling is a bit of a delusion. Because it’s all about the acceptance of the self. Nice to meet you, Talia. I wish you all the best on your journey.

You have all you need and you'll be given all you need I wish you all the best, thanks so much for stopping by and sharing 🤗

Since my last relationship a few years ago, I had to take a hard look at myself and admit that I’m not healed enough for dating or even casual relationships. Although I aim to suppress it, my insecurities and fear of abandonment often result in me being an asshole as a preemptive defense, even when things are overall going well. It’s unfair to the other person so I choose to chill for now.

On your example of “needing space,” I’m glad you figured out that you needed to reach out and contact your guy. His response was exactly as I would expect: you asked for space, and he wasn’t sure precisely “how much space.” I think if you did read back over the messages and step away from all emotion (eg. Read all the messages literally) you would know everything was ok. Also, your note that the masculine supports the “structure” of the relationship is spot on, but when you asked for space and didn’t specify any details (duration), your guy respectfully allowed you to structure how the next few days went. I’m glad you figured it out. Keep up the good personal work.

It's very simple but many have forgotten it and now reside in confusion - you find a friend of the opposite sex, someone you feel you could be friends with forever, with some sexual attraction (it doesn't have to be max sexual attraction and even if it is the grass in another field will one day look greener so just enough attraction is enough). And then know temptation is real and overcome your trials. Because it's funny how one's mood mostly comes down to gratitude for having what one has, and how one's mood changes once we start thinking and comparing to someone else and what we don't have. People are putting numbers on each other, wanting this societal "quality" man or woman instead of considering whether they actually like them and can be themselves around them and whether he or she cares about them. It's a kind of madness, helped along by social media and "image".

Can I give you some advice? Stay single. I'm very available. I'm a college graduate, I make good money, I'm attractive looking, I travel, and I've written seven books. I'm the guy women fight over. But I don't ask women out. Forget dating. Men want sex. If you want sex, then dating is for you. If you want a husband, make sure you have cash and no debts. Otherwise, divorce laws in the U.S. will allow you to marry a guy, divorce him, and take everything he has ever worked for. You're a good-looking woman, but I would never marry you. Too risky.

@@monkeys50000 Yeah, last time I checked. You don't seem to agree. Lucky you. The country you're from probably doesn't have divorce laws that allows the woman to divorce and take everything. So here in the U.S. in case you haven't heard, men aren't approaching women like they used to, and the ones that do approach usually get rejected. Yeah, I'm OK. I've learned to adapt.

Good points, but I have to strongly disagree on letting the man lead the conversation. It's a big red flag if a girl just sits there reacting to his questions. Todays women are way too passive which is a big turnoff. A true connection thrives in equal distribution of effort and we men notice that immediately. There's no such thing as feeling overpowered by a girl showing interest.

No Sexual attraction comes from male-female dynamics. Male leads and is dominant, and women wants to submit. Equality and emotional connection is a bs you see on disney movies. Women are attracted to masculine men, if he needs encouragement to take action he is not a strong man -she will be physically unable to feel any attraction. On the contrary women will almost always gonna give some shittests to scout how you will react to test your confidence. Because women are not sexually attracted to comfort and convenience and emotional connection. Main traits women find attractive are confidence and decisiveness , emotional stability and independence, not seeking approval etc. And she sees those traits from how you take initiative and how you lead her.
