Best 4WD All-Terrain Tyre. Which of these tyres gives the best on/off road balance. Other choices?
mine is dpfing every 40 miles its shite
That’s sounds very unusual unless you are doing numerous very short stop/start trips. Diesels don’t like short trips and these problems are worse in those circumstances
I would certainly get Toyota to look into this for you
My 2022 Fortuner DPF works perfectly, I usually do minimum 30 minute drives or longer, every 270 ish km automatically does it, takes 20 minutes roughly. If I stop starts again when engine gets up to operating parameters. It does have a button, you can manually do it by pressing it and parking the car. Works seamlessly.
Yeah, mine the same
its not an issue for everyone. I have a 2018 Fortuner. I used to drive about 25 km each way every day . The generation is actually a burn. I dont have a screen. At one service i was told that the dpf had been replaced . This would have been about 40 000km.I never had any trouble. The trouble is that diesels should NOT be sold to short trip people
Yeah, short trip users are the problem, not the DPF itself. My trips are pretty much > 100km when I do them, mostly motorway Ks. I’ve also not had a problem and I’m over 100,000 km now
Great clues !!
Thanks!
Any new update after 2 years of use¿ I'm preparing to buy it for my prado 22 v6 It cam with rim 19" 7.5 265-55/R19
Hi, yeah I’ve been a bit slack with new videos of late due to work etc. wheels are great highly recommend and the Falken Wildpeak tyres also very reliable, hard wearing and still got good tread after over 50,000km
Thanks mate for the video
Thanks for watching
I like the straight forward review - thanks! I just bought the equivalent here in the UK (Active model). First drive of 544 miles in 3 days and got 35.5 MPG (average speed 48mph for 11hrs 20 mins driving)! Very happy with that and it was a mix of driving too (Motorways, city, A & B roads). It all depends on how you manage your drive. The TLC is great, rock solid and enough extras, without all the necessary electronic, which create havoc in Land Rover products. The 10 year (yearly rolling) warranty is good to have too.
Thanks. They are good solid, reliable cars
Hey mate, great vid. You're the only one with info about these aerial adapters. Did you happen to trial the coverage between handheld aerial, GME stubby, and Oricom across distances and through bush?
GME stubby not as good. Oricom better.
Distances through bush didn’t do.
Come on now fellas, these Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are noisy as hell. One of the noisiest AT Tyres/tires you can get from a well known brand name company, and that is because of their high Silica compound & aggressive shoulder Tread pattern. Wait until you have done around 40,000 K's you won't be able to hear the passenger, the radio or the phone. And that is on the smoothest road you can find. Without a doubt they are Great gripping and handling Tyres/Tires in the dry & wet but there is no denying that they are super noisy.
Thanks for your comment. I’ve currently done over 40,000km on my Falkens and still think the noise level is acceptable. Sure they are slightly worse than a road tyre but I have no issues with the radio or phone.
Well done .Thanks .
Thank you too!
Thank you very much for this kind of review. I own a 2022 land cruiser prado in Panama. we too here have a cimate very similar as yours. very hot and very rainy season too. My Prado is a VX grado that has the KDSS but not the AVS nor the rear air suspension. It came with 19in wheels and my man.. we dont get in Panama 265/55R19... its no available unless you make an special order... simply too expensive.. so i made a change to 17 in tires... I would like to know about how much fuel economy have you lost with this tire and how much the comfort has changed, do you feel the road more? harsshere? bumpy ride?
Hi, I do mainly highway driving and touring on motorways: I get about 8L/100km. Around town with stop/start driving it’s more like 9.7L/100km
@@PradoPlacesOzhow about ride comfort?
Not been a real problem, marginally louder but not really .
Good video thanks. I’ve been using the 10p version during heavy rain and no leaks at all as long as you secure the fly properly. I’m 6’3” and great headroom. A bit slower to setup and takedown than more expensive tents but I can’t justify the extra cost. Works fine.
Thanks for sharing
Just what i needed 🔥 what a legend
Thanks
Good video, I thought my head light washers didn't work until I saw this video, they only work when the head lights are on, thank you very much.
No problem 👍
Great video. I have a 2019 GXL and it spends 98% of the time on the bitumen. I don't do any serious off-roading either, finding a qiuet spot on a beach (4x4 approved) is about as off-road as I go. I live in the burbs and it's a 20min drive to work, so a fair bit of heavy traffic and I'm happy with the economy at a constant 9.1ltrs/100k's. On the highway/country trips it averages 7.6ltrs. Being a 2019, it's 130hp/450Nm and suits what I use it for. Not sure if the 2019 has the upgraded DPF, but I've never had any issue with it. It doesn't have the DPF guage like yours, but it does a regen every 150km or so in city driving. I also park up and do a manual regen once a week if I'm not able to get out on the highway. Takes around 7-10min to complete and never had any issues or warning lights on. Very comfortable to drive as you said and I like the old school simplicity of the interior. Very well built, no rattles or squeaks anywhere. I love it.
Totally agree. My concerns with all these more computerised “ high tech” cars is that one electrical or ecu issue shuts down the whole vehicle sometimes. I also own a Mini Cooper with is basically a small BMW. All computerised, can’t even physically check the oil!
@@PradoPlacesOz Too funny. My sister has a 2022 Kia Sportage, everything is touch screen. Looks really cool, but it's a real pain just to adjust a/c temp. Sub-menus, fingerprints everywhere, can't turn off all the beeps and chimes from the plethora of driver assist tech. defaults to 'ON' when you restart the car. Might be great when brand new, but like you said, one glitch somewhere and the whole lot goes.
Why would you keep the rear seats in ? Wouldn't you rather take out any excess weight for fuel consumption purposes ?
Good question. I’m planning to turn over the Prado and didn’t want to have to remove everything and reinstall the rear seats again when I trade it.
That's a big help mate.
No Problem thanks for supporting the channel
Do you think the 85L version loaded up with ice would last longer??
Probably. Suggest line some ice blocks on the bottom first, then ice and put stuff in pre-chilled from a fridge if you can. They’ll give best opportunity to stay cold.
Good realistic video. Was always a bit skeptical of a lot of these reviews.
Glad it was helpful!. Thanks. Pls subscribe 😀
Thank you!
You're welcome!
And how would ice blocks perform ? Eg the yeti ice blocks instead of water ice cubes ?
Yeah good question. Probably longer than ice to be honest. Worth a test😊
Once I deactivate do I only need to do it this one time? Or everytime? Thanks.
Every time unless you leave it deactivated.
Literally stumbled on mine today... then kept pressing it to see if I was really seeing it 😂😂
lol. 😂.
Hi Peter. I just joined the Prado brotherhood. I got a VX. I still trying to teach it not to jump into 5 th and 6th so early. (apparently the tranny will learn over timer). I was worried about the engine labour at such low revs. I do love the car though. More usb ports yess and I think they have nailed it. Oh. also, the camera and display is not as crisp as I would have hoped from an $85K car but Im hoping to overlook that. Nice vid on the dpf. cheers mate.
Thanks. Mine is now 3 yrs old and I’m looking at moving it on soon. The prices have become a little bit crazy and apparently the new model due this year will be even more expensive
Use manual mode and change to S4. It will use 1,2,3 and 4th gear only
Do you have photos of the vehicle, didnt really show the whole vehicle once the rims were fitted
I have a photo but can’t seem to post it into comments here. If you send your email address I’ll send to you
Good to see you back again with good views on products
Thank you
Very good information. I have been thinking about to get one for myself. Thanks for the video👌💯

Totally agree
Hello mate, I’d like to stick some hilux icon wheels on my Prado, but the icon offset is ET30 and my prado is 25, can I use the hilux wheels with a 30 offset?
Look it’s probably ok but I’d definitely consult an accredited tyre and wheel specialist first to have a chat. I’m not an expert and I did get device from JAX in Australia. The offset can effect the legality of the wheels.
Very well made instructional video thanks for your efforts.
Thanks
Poor is a polite word..
Agree
I got these round things whuch were taped on the rim, what are they for
Unclear what you mean?
You mightn't have got them, they're bout the size of a 10c piece
May I ask you the reason for choosing 9" vs the original 7.5" wide rims ? I find the prado s tires look narrow compared to the same 265 or even 255 on other cars ! Does the 9" rim make it look wider ? Thanks in advance
Hi, apparently the standard tyre is rated to fit a maximum 9” rim. It doesn’t really make the footprint wider but it’s obviously slightly wider at the bead.
Thanks for sharing; very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much, a lot of help for me.
You are welcome!
Hi Peter , I recommend you and your wife take a tour to Victoria and drive the great Ocean road and take a look at Philip island.
Sounds great!. It’s on my list
how are you liking them after 1 year of use?
They are good wheels. Prefer them to the OEM. Tyres also holding up well too
Hi maté could you please share the exact measurements of the tyres and the wheels
Hi Mate: Tyres are 265/65/R17 (OEM size). The wheels are ROH Assault 17x9 with ET12 offset. Cheers. Thanks for watching. There are videos on both on my channel.
@@PradoPlacesOz thank you so much
Great review! I bought the same spec in 2022 and added almost the identical accessories except titan draws and added a set of 3d mats. Now traveled 8000km
I’m at 76,000
your right the instructions are shit.
What is Cool-ice WCI as opposed to without WCI ?
Unsure what you mean? Is this related to my video?
@Prado Places Oz yes. There seems to be Wacaco Cool Ice (WCI) in the name of Dometic cool ice boxes. I have a retailer in my country who has boxes from 2023 with WCI in the name and boxes left from 2022 collection without WCI in the name. I ask whether it bears any difference?
@@martincho8002 sorry, I don’t know for sure. I think it’s the same.
Wacaco and Dometic are the same brand I believe
I use google translator and i don't speak english Can you tell me how many hours until the snow melted?

@@PradoPlacesOz You helped me Thank you
thanks a lot .....I wish to know where I can find the electrical diagrams of the Hilux and Prado
Suggest get a copy of the online Haynes manual
I have a same cluster but this DPF option is not available. 🫤
This DPF was only after the new updates were made in 2020 I believe
Next time you have your car serviced at Toyota, just ask them to enable DPF custom mode 2 with the graph. Had my 2020 Prado in a few weeks ago and they didn't charge me for it.
Thank u very much
Thanks
Hi and thanks for the video. I had a similar small but annoying chip in the driver's line of sight some years ago. Had the repair successfully completed with a barely detectable result. Fast forward a couple of years to when I am selling the vehicle privately.....screen fails a Safety Certificate inspection (Qld). Reason given was that ANY repair in the area swept by the wipers is an automatic fail. So still had to replace the screen before selling the vehicle. A small but annoying irony was that the same company which did the repair, also changed the screen. No disclosure made at the time of repair of course. I now take the no excess windscreen insurance replacement option and replace the screen at no additional cost whenever it gets grit pitted from western roads - 3 to 4 yearly depending on trips.
Interesting. Didn’t know that. Do you think that’s a QLD thing or applies in all States?
Did a couple of searches just now..advice from 2 national windscreen franchises in FAQs gives the same advice : ANY damage in the driver's primary vision area will render vehicle ineligible for RWC/Safety Cert. So, I'm thinking not just Qld.
Ok thanks
Handy vid - I wonder if anyone has moved the backing plate behind it? It gets full of leaves and grit and I think is a bit of a rust trap. There are 4x philips bolts and one black plug - is that a lever-out plug? Or is there some other trick before I break something!
I think the black plug is probably where the wiring for the reverse camera comes through. I think it’s just an electrical grommet.
How are tje tyres going ? Im getting the at3w on saturday
Mate, they are good. Been happy with them. Still got good tread on them.
