I have lived 2,5 years in Champagne doing exactly that, discovering growers and artisan champagnes.. Did that 10 years ago.. that journey made me value more the quality of Dom Pérignon.

a good question. champagne can age over 100 years and still be fresh, have bubbles and an amazing taste. but if you age a local supermarket champagne it won't benefit from it. most champagne is yes drank in the first couple of years.

Honest opinion. I am sure you paid 1000€/£ more than I did when I liked Salon but thought it was expensive. now its beyond it. but also its a matter of money for some people paying 1,3k for a bottle is same as i would 1€ so. main thing is if you like it enjoy it. and secondly Salon is insanely amazing when it comes with age. its not one of these type of fashion but instead haute couture. One should taste Salon with proper age, then define if you are okay drinking them young too. :)

In the future if you like Salon one needs to pay that price. 80s going now 2,5k - 5k depending on where..

Salon can be one of the best Champagnes one will ever had in their life. So yes it has the possibility to be worth the money. As a young cuvée its not worth the price. Also I don't see those prices coming down in the future so if one wishes to taste Salon there is no better time than the current one.. Just need to be extra careful with the bottle conditions.

exactly. the whole point of the video is if someones fav bubbles are Armand de Brignac.. and also in america it is a tradition to celebrate with a big bottle of brignac when you win NFL, NBA etc.. and well all started from rap.. its a cool thing that such a champagne exists but its not for me.

@EdwardOfChampagne don't think a lot of people's favourite champagne think just a status thing I got 6 litre bottle and loads of 3 litre bottles of it but I collect champagne so got same of other brands it is over priced tho

i mean if someone just drinks young vintages like now 2015, 2013 or even anything from the 2000s they don't understand what Cristal truly is. it takes so much more time to show what it can be. and depending on the vintage it can take longer. i'm sure you know what I'm talking about hence you have a solid collection.

@EdwardOfChampagne know what you mean I recently drank a 15 and is way too young but I often drink them young as got loads that aging but want drink a quilty champagne

yeah exactly my point is that people don't know what Cristal (or basically any prestige cuvée) truly is if they haven't drank it with some age. and if someone wants to drink young Cristal or young Salon its nothing away from me, they can have at it :)

yeah I agree, i love doing this type of videos too with more people and some natural conversation about wines. :) you guys mind if these all would not just be champagne, i have deep profound love for Bourgogne and when I travel I always drink some local wines too : )

@@EdwardOfChampagne Oh sure, you absolutely should widen your roster with your expertise. I would also love to see ”time to time” -videos / a serie of some really niche, small unit wines from the more minor - so called artisan - producers.

@@laurij7774 thanks. yes definately there will be videos of the artisan producers its another love of mine. :) i'm also planning the concept how to do those too. and I do love the regular normal classic champagnes too so videos of them coming. any ideas just please shoot me messages it helps to create the perfect concept that is also easy and steady to develop. would it be interesting to have more people to talk with on the videos or just solo explaining and drinking wines?
