What a stunning and memory awakening video. We took our boys to the big 3 Utah parks about 1-2 years prior to COVID. Zion got about 48 hours and while we didn’t get those high country scenes you exposed us to, the overall topography and mixture of rocks with plenty of trees and greenery jarred my memory of Zion in a positive way. Thanks. It was both fun and real to see you struggle with your old-self of wanting to get to the end and your new-self who insisted on enjoying the journey (which seems to be readily winning - well done!).

Great job. That being said, hiking the larger part in the dark somewhat defeats the purpose of hiking the Grand Canyon and the spectacular views it offers. I believe you have the capacity completing an R2R2R (starting from the south rim), within 20 hours, doing the larger part of the hike in daylight; hiking early June). This was my second time hiking rim to rim. I’ve been surprised with all the people who have had something to say about me doing part of the hike in the dark. lol i think that it the only way to cover this much mileage is one go is to hike in the dark. @@ClaySTL the early start definitely help. Otherwise you are hiking the biggest climbs in the heat of the day, which is brutal! If you can I’d recommend getting a 3L water bladder that you can fill up instead of the frozen water bottles, it will take up a lot less space and you can refill at the water taps (as long as they are on, another thing to check on before you go). I understand your worry with hiking in the dark, but if you have a good headlamp you’ll be fine. And most likely you won’t be alone!

Having grown up in the US, including going to all 50 states, I am used to ancient treasures being walled off to discourage hastened erosion from human contact. The access to petroglyphs throughout this region is a rare treasure in America. In 2018, we wife and I went to New Delhi where most of the historical landmarks are completely accessible to touch and feel the history. I’m on the fence regarding having such access. Being able to stand right next to it, even to feel it, gives us a greater experience of the site(s). That said, I know how much damage such access can cause to these sites. I suspect that, in the US, folks have made in for Ed decisions and have allowed areas like this to be maximally accessible with other areas protected. I’m glad you shared this beautiful area with us given the rarified nature of the petroglyphs all over the place. I wonder if future societies will explore South LA and be amazed of the graffiti we leave behind!

@@trailandtravel We just booked another trip to paradise for New Years (it’ll be our 8th time going to Bora Bora), but this time we won’t stay at Le Bora Bora. They used to be the best value for the money, but I guess with their growing popularity, they increased pricing by over 30% compared to our trip there this past new years and were now priced the same as IC Thalasso. We’ve stayed at and/or been to most of the resorts in Bora Bora and loved Le Bora Bora for their great value for the money (it was priced as a 4 star resort), but now at the same price as a 5 stars resort, it’s now priced too high in my opinion. The normal/low end OWB at the five star resorts are almost as big as Le Bora Bora’s two end of pontoon villas, where we’ve also spent a few nights on one of our stays.

Ooo yay! I have 3 dogs - we taught the command, "leave it". I think it's super helpful some people say they don't like it but, it comes in super handy and I think comes in handy as a command on trail- when my dogs see an animal they want to go after, or people, and plants "leave it" comes in super handy. And as far as getting them comfortable- not to be a broken record but, taking them out to get them comfortable really works well. And when you're out in nature, have fun. If he seems scared of something that seems like he doesn't need to be scared, tell him he's a good boy, give him a rub, keep some treats if you want - show him that he can have fun 👍🏼

we are currently working on "leave it" and he's doing much better now! After 2 weeks here he seems to be settling into a routine with us and it is wonderful! He is pretty timid outside right now, but I always reassure him when he's scared which really seams to help! Thank you so much for your ideas! We are building a really good bond and I am so looking forward to taking him out more!
