Another helpful one before I pick mine up. Thanks for doing these even though they've been around for a while.
Appreciate you doing this video. Helpful stuff before I pick mine up after having a very different tractor!
$944 after tax.
powah eering
What if it doesn’t read full when it is actually full?
you can adjust the float on the sending unit. take the fuel cap off and reach into the tank with a long pair of needle nose pliers and pull up (gently) on the float arm. When pulling up if you can get the gauge to read full then you can adjust the float arm. The float arm can be adjusted by removing the sending unit from the tank.
Can I remove the forward or reverse solenoids to test the same you did the pto solenoid?
yes, they should work the same way if its a 4x10 machine
Underneath machine right or left side? Can you take off the solenoid housing to show us what you explain? And is the pump that operates the pro the same pump that operates the forward and reverse solenoids
yes, will take another video this week for you. The pump that powers the PTO on/off valve is the implement pump (on left or drivers side of engine). The pump that powers the wheels is the hydrostatic pump and the hydrostatic pump solenoids control the flow/direction (forward/reverse).
This may be a great informative video but can’t hear you bkz of the empty room you are in. Very frustrating.
Your video only shows how to adjust the temperature gauge. What about the fuel gauge which you mention at the beginning and end. You don't show that procedure. Where is the wiring that connects to the fuel gauge and what value resistor do you use to adjust that gauge? You don't show that procedure in your video. Please clarify.
@@bigeddiem3745 thanks for reaching out. I can create a new video on the fuel gauge. Will create in the next few days and let you know.
No more code?
@@tradhunter5976 no more code. Changed plugs and that was it.
Is your machine a 4x4? I am looking at one that needs 2 new hydraulic pumps. Curious how it does with traction and pushing dirt. Thank you for the great videos
Thanks for reaching out. The B100 is a 4x2 (2wd) machine. I've had mine for a few years now and never got stuck with it. The thing is an all around construction beast for its size/class. Absolutely love this machine. Good luck with your purchase. You will be very happy with it.
@@darrenmas thank you so much for responding. The machine is missing both its pumps. Doing research and debating on it.
Wow. Way to skip how u took off the steering wheel
Steering wheel puller or gear puller is what you want to use. Sometimes they pop right off. Others you need to work it a little.
Thank you for any information

Thanks and thanks for reaching out. Love the L48. Such a great machine 👍🏻
Can you use heat to ease the bend?
Rebuilding the left rear axle for the rear end
Nice I believe the allmands have a Dana rear end. Should be able to find parts off the shelf at most automotive parts stores. Good Luck 👍🏻
Our tractor is showing similar behavior but we have only noticed in when it is going forward. The odd thing is that it can run for hours without any issues. But it seems like , and if it is turned off & back on, that the loss of forward motion happens intermittently. I swear that by turning off/on, you can eventually get this issue to go away. My brother was going to try this reset procedure last week but we he watched the video, he was afraid that if he didn't do it correctly that it might cause more problems. So in your video you state that there is a point where some folks "mess it up" - what happens when they "mess it up?" Does it disable the tractor completely or does it just not fix the problem??
Thanks for reaching out. First check the code that is being thrown when the tractor stops moving. The sensor that is causing the machine to stop will throw a code. If it’s the seat sensor then you can jump out the seat sensor and see if the problem clears. If the code is for the forward pedal sensor (potentiometer) the test the min max voltage. I have a video on how to test the pedal potentiometer. If sensor that is throwing code test good only then I would recommend the controller reset. Machine will not move until you get all the way through controller reset procedure. If you stop half way through and try to exit early machine will not be usable.
Keep them coming!

I wonder if this would work on a JD 3520?
Did a little research and the JD 3520 has a diagnostic mode which allows you to troubleshoot the error code. I would recommend getting a service manual and I bet you could fix it. The 3520 uses a similar controller and sensors so I bet you could do a reset/relearn if needed. Definitely start with service manual.
Thank You Sir
Thanks for the video Darren. Do you have to have the tractor on jack stands to run through this autolearn sequence?
Sure np thanks for reaching out. Yes or if you have backhoe you can raise rear tires with stabilizers. Use loader to raise front. For the hydro pedals relearn step you need all wheels off ground.
Blah blah blah
What do you mean by this comment?
Thanks for the info. Please reply with your “l35 channel “. You mentioned. There is an issue with the hydraulic pump housing. Mine had to be replaced. The l35 just stopped moving one day. Darren, I have really appreciated you suggested repairs for the JD 4300 tractors and plan to put several into use. Any suggestions for an hour meter that has stopped working also has a bad temperature gauge that I plan on trying to fix with a resistor as you suggested. I was planning on purchasing a new gauge cluster. (OUCH) keep up the great videos… Thanks
Glad that the videos are helpful and thanks for your feedback. You can get a replacement hour meter. You would have todo some soldering to remove/install the old/new meter. I believe it would work, but never tried it. The part number of the meter should be on the back of the meter. I would just google the part number and see what you find. I bet it’s just off the shelf part/meter that is readily available for much less. Hope this helps…
Where did you get your seats? I’ve been looking for something like that with no luck

Which video is about the brake issues ?
My bad, I made one of this machine (4300), but must of never uploaded it. I have a 4200 that needs it done on the right side. Sticking really bad whenever I use the brake. I'll make a video of that and upload this week. Should be same procedure for all 4xxx series machines.
I have 4210 an same problem with the brake. Thanks for your videos. Very helpful!
Hi, Darren. I've owned a 4310 since new, and now probably have 1800 hours on it. I say probably, because the battery died dead at 1500, and when I replaced it the hour meter reset itself to zero! I've had the brake issues, the front knuckle leak, rear leak, and the mounting forks for the loader spread enough to require 3/16" shims on both sides. Oh, and some brush reached up and yanked a couple of wires out of a connector, shorted out, and blew the main $1000 circuit board. But the issue I'm dealing with these days is the rockshaft lever. It got stiffer and stiffer over the years, and now is totally locked up, making the three-point totally unusable. I have the seat frame off, and it appears the cross shaft is somewhat free until it disappears into a casting on the left side of the tractor. Would you know if this tube is the actual piece that carries the motion across the tractor, or is there another shaft inside that tube? Have you ever run into this problem? Thanks, -Dave Polmon
@@LongBinh70 Hi thanks for reaching out. I believe the rock shaft lever just operates the lift/lower valve. I’ll check the shop manual today and get back to you with with what I find out.
@@LongBinh70 sorry I couldn’t tell from the shop manual pics what the internals of the rockshaft look like. Were you able to pull it apart?
Mine is stuck flashing the “reverse” and “throttle” light sequence over and over no matter what I do with throttle or the reverse pedal :/
If it started happening after battery died or was removed then it probably needs a controller relearn/reset. I would check the voltages on the reverse potentiometer and if they are normal do the relearn/reset on the controller.
@@darrenmas sorry, I meant it’s flashing those codes during the relearn on the controller. I bet the potentiometer is bad. Thank you for tip . Linkage had broken and got it fixed up , must be potentiometer or something
Wow, you talk way too much. Just get to it
Seriously. Stupid shit
I wanted to recalibrate my 4410 and after putting the fuse back and starting the tractor 3 different error codes keep cycling. Forward pedal, back pedal and throttle. Is this normal and can you help me fix it. Should I try and recalibrate the pedals one by one regardless? Thank you.
Sure I can help. Did you get through any of the recalibrate/relearn steps? When your in recalibrate/relearn mode the code for the sensor that’s next will flash. I have a video on the process with a 4210. Same process for the 4410.

th-cam.com/video/sK1eBlWhx58/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qHMhDPWKBj_LA1GN
@@darrenmas I did not try any recalibration steps. I was under the impression that blinking codes do not cycle all the time. Rather that it blinks one error and only after I clear it the sequence changes to the next in line error.
My 4610 is very dangerous when i push either foot pedal tractor engages and machine take 2 to 3 seconds to realease. Tractor has only 850 hours of very ez usage and this is dangerous. 2 weeks ago it wouldnt stop and it hit garage with loader and broke the main big beam on corner of garage. I got pissed brought it to john deere they had it for 3 days and told me it needs a new $1400 dollar controler. Plus 700 labor, i have a feeling that that is not the problem. If it is it should be a recall on this!
If it’s a reputable dealer and they tested the controller it’s definitely possible. With that said in my experience with the 4x10 machines I’ve never had one with a bad controller. Typically if you have a bad controller the machine won’t even move. A movable machine that is doing bad things like in your case has always been a bad sensor. potentiometer on one of the hst pedals or motion match on the fritz. I would recommend putting motion match on quick stop position A.
Its the switch to the left of the controller fault code light. Put it in the forward position to activate quick stop (position A). See if that makes any difference.
It is on quick delay
@@barrypederson3688 next thing to check is the potentiometer voltage when pedal is released. The HST pedal potentiometers are about 5 volts when pedal is fully depressed. When released the voltage should immediately return close to zero. If you release the pedal and voltage stays at about 5 volts for a few seconds then the potentiometer is bad. I have a video on how to check the voltage on the potentiometer without unplugging it. You don’t want to unplug them when key is on, since that will confuse the controller
Rust?thats why fluid film,Krown and any other rust inhibitor were created.Spray your inner fenders and any areas where moisture or wet soil will tend to gather.Lubricate ALL moving parts on the machine, including switches.Way to expensive and nice machines to not take care of.Great machines, last forever.
Great Tip!👍🏽
no way you are a 4310 guy with a backhoe and didn't mention the backhoe attachment plates coming loose and the rear axle tunnels cracking!
Great video. Explained my sound to a T. Gonna either just take the light bar off and just run pods or make this bracket. Thank you!
Thnx for the info!
The tractor must be on jack stands when calibrating control to eliminate rolling resistance to get a true low and high ends of pedals.
I had hell getting the ..pl.astic bail handle to get in place during reassembly... its still out of position on my 4210... will order the pewter metal parts and then try it again with more patience. mannnn
Any chance you can do one on dealing with the brakes, return springs etc?
Sure, just did one side on the 4300. If one side is sticking you want to take the wheel off that side and move the brake lever manually with large wrench or small mallet. After manually moving the lever it will free itself up and return to normal. You'll have to move it 40-50 times to fully free it up back to normal. WD-40 around the shaft area also helps. Real common issue.
@@darrenmas Mine haven't worked normally since about 1 year after ownership. I'd crawl under and bang the brakes back. I consider the brakes "emergency" brakes which is obviously wrong. I should be able to brake steer in certain circumstances etc but I stopped. I will give it a try. The P light stays on but isn't dragging unless someone uses the brake, but thankfully since it is E-Hydro that's pretty rare.
Yup, sounds familiar, such a common issue. I'm always able to get it back to normal using the 40-50 times method. Most all the 4000 series machines I do have this problem on one side. Parking brake light is also really common. I think I did a video on that fix. Might be on a 4210 though. Was also a hydro so should be same on yours.
That will only works if the gage and sender are linear. Most are not. You could add a resistor and make it read what ever at what ever part of the scale you choose. That it's not a fix. Worst yet, up to and above that point you have altered the relationship so you do not really know how far off you are.
Excellent video, thank you for posting it. I would recommend venting the axle. I have a 2001 4700 tractor, 5-6 yrs ago had oil seeping from top seal on spindle axle housing, once I vented the axle it’s been bone dry since. One other modification I would recommend. The 2 caps ( freeze plugs) are glued in place. Two weeks ago I was removing snow and when I parked tractor in barn I noticed the 2caps on the floor. Lost 2 gallons of axle fluid without ever knowing the axle was running dry for about an hour. I reglued the caps with ( loctite retaining compound 620 jd recommends it) and as a safety precaution I fabricated 2u shape brackets to support the caps. I used the bottom 2 bolts of the hub gear housing ( mine has 8 bolts) and replaced the pipe oil drain plug with a brass hexagon drain bolt. Auto part stores stock them.i also installed a 1/4” x 1/2” rubber piece glued and fastened to bracket under cap for support and preventing noise vibration. Hope this helps.
Thanks for you feedback and your tips. The freeze plugs tip is something I bet many people would find helpful. Thanks again. Love these JDs....
Well done, thank you. Just what I needed. I am doing this repair on my 4710 next.
Bought mine years ago with an aftermarket cab on it. No regrets with this machine!
Thanks. I have a 4310 that I bought new. I had 1500 hours on it, and the battery died. The hour meter reset to zero, never to return. I can't imagine resetting the board would suddenly find the lost 1500 hours. Also, this past Fall the tractor speed started surging badly while moving forward, usually under load. For some reason I turned off the Load Match switch, and the problem went away! Not too concerned, since I've never (intentionally) used Load Match, but I wonder if doing a reset would fix it. The only other problem is the 3-point lever (rock shaft) that it's so stiff it's unusable. I understand there is a fiber washer involved, but I can't seem to find a way to get to it.
Thanks for reaching out. The JD4310s are great. Hours meters always go out eventually on them. Sometimes they reset or become hard to read vs going out. All the older 4000 series used the same meter and have similar problems. I've had a few machines with the load match and honestly everyone disables it, since it doesn't work all the time. Fairly normal to have the machine do strange things when its on. Rock shaft lever is another thing thats always kind of frozen. Simplest thing to do is use some wd40 on the pivot points if you can get to them.
@darrenmas thanks for the relay suggestions. I have a problem with the 3Pt Hitch up/down on my 4310 Ehydro. If I put in UP mode, it wants to apply hydraulic pressure for lifting forever unless I finesse it. How do I fix that?
I would adjust/check the rockshaft feedback linkage and try adjusting it. Here is a link to do that www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/jd-4310-rockshaft-adjustment.321317/
The linkage is on the left of the rockshaft when standing at the back of the machine.
