My Buddy playing around on his 250F. He's still learning how to ride a dirt bike, he's used to a GSXR600 LOL. Also, don't be the guy on the green 2 stroke. He kept cutting people off and going super slow. Don't do that!!
DRZ400S vs KTM 250-EXC at Shannon MX
มุมมอง 1605 ปีที่แล้ว
Between a DRZ400S and a KTM250-EXC, I'd say the KTM is at advantage with better suspension and more power, plus being around 115 lbs lighter. I gave it my all and he still beat me! Had a great race, but I'm no expert rider. I fit more in a C class. Thanks for watching, Like and Subscribe!! #motoadventures Instagram, @moto_adventures_

    I too have both a DRZ400 and a CBR300R. I've had my DRZ400 (geared with 38T rear sprocket) up to 108 mph indicated (est. of 99mph GPS corrected) explained: I checked my DRZ top speed with a GPS device and hit 103 mph on a particular run and GPS show a top speed of 94mph. The DRZ400 speedo is off quite a bit, 8% to 9%. My altered gearing didn't affect the reading since the speedo sensor is a cable type that is connected to the front wheel. My CBR300 shows the same speed on the dash and the same GPS device I've been using. Max on my CBR300: I hit 101mph indicated one time on a down grade. Ususally my CBR300 tops out in the around 95mph (where my DRZ400 would be showing 103 to 104). It takes unusual conditions with ideal weather and wind and road to get either bike up to that last 5mph.

      Ah... I'm a old guy these days. I'm wanting a bike to tool around on doing jeep trails... site seeing, ect. I used to ride quite a lot in my youth. N. Texas Canadian River... which was deep sand, trail or single tracking... and some hill climbing. I'm too old for that today. I'm considering the tw200 or the xt250. I'm thinking the xt250 would be better for me... but I do like the looks of the fat tires. The 250 sits a bit taller too and a few more cc's... but both bikes look mod. friendly... not much difference in price. And the fuel injection of the 250 will be altitude friendly without having to tinker with the carb. Anyways... good Video... stay safe riding !

      DirtyOldMountainGoat if your wanting something that’s a great trail bike, that you won’t be jumping (more than 5-7 ft high) and nothing insanely fast (70max) this is the perfect bike. It will climb anything and can go under gates for sure

    • @projectiledysfunction2217
      @projectiledysfunction2217 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don't know if you're throwing a tdub over a gate any time soon without an engine hoist, they're small for a bike but they're not exactly light. They've got huge wheels that are mounted on steel rims, along with a steel frame, and that means their wet weight is listed as 280 pounds. That aside I'd definitely recommend one as an easy to ride, reliable trail bike as well. They do well in mud and sand if you upgrade the front tire, and they have a very low seat height so you can always flatfoot them at a stop or put your legs out to claw over rough terrain at a crawl. They get great fuel economy (albeit with a tiny gas tank) on road or off, and although it doesn't have much HP or torque you get it at relatively low RPMs so it's very usable on the trails. It's great at making the most out of the 14 or so HP it's stuck working with, even after regearing the rear for more top end speed mine can still putter up a decent incline with the throttle hardly past the idle stop position. They're street legal, so you can ride them from your driveway to a trail on the other size of the county and then back again. They're great for running around town as well, like a scooter, but cooler looking and more versatile. They're reliable and have fairly long service intervals as well. The downsides are that while they aren't exactly rare they also aren't always super common, either new or used, and some shops or private sellers think they're worth a lot more than they really are. (There are currently zero used bikes on my local CL at this time, leaving one shop way out in the sticks selling a 2018 for $3900 and another in the city asking $4600.) I've also had trouble finding a lot of performance upgrades for the bike that actually do anything noticeable, it seems like you're limited to rejetting and swapping rear sprockets to get any more power. The stock front tire is a Bridgestone Trailwing, which has earned the nickname Deathwing in the TW200 community, since it likes to wash out on any loose surface like sand/mud/gravel. There are some good upgrades available, like the Shinko 241 DOT trials tire I put on mine, but you won't find nearly as much tire variety in the tdub's rim size as you would on a skinny tire bike. The suspension wasn't amazing in the 80s and it's usable but downright archaic now. You only get about 6" travel in the front and 5" in the back, and both are too soft, so I sometimes hear the forks bottom out on a hard descent down rock steps or tree roots. I don't even jump it or anything, this is just my 210 lb weight plus pushing an old short-travel design to it's limits under rough trails. There's upgrade kits to help with this that have new seals, springs, and cartridge emulators but they're like $300. Not trying to discourage you from getting a tdub since I love mine, just trying to put the good out there with the bad. Another good choice that's not street legal but is usually more commonly available would be a TT-R230 or CRF-230F, which are a little lighter while having more power and ground clearance/suspension travel. If you're looking for something street legal like a TW200, or you're short and want something where you can always get a foot down, scour craigslist for an old XT225. It shares an engine/transmission with the TTR but has a lower seat height and a different carb. Anyway, I'd recommend trying some of these bikes out if you can since what makes a good motorcycle depends a lot on the size and preferences of the rider
