    Thanks for this. Those torque values are real and I will make sure to get that right. I am getting up the nerve to do this job because inside an 1989 22RE with 110k miles, the dirver's side chain guide has disappeared completely and the chain is slapping

    Does the dot on the chain gear have to be at 12 o'clock with the dowel on the cam? Mines is slightly to the left is that off 1 tooth? Cuz I can't seem to get the proper timing on my 22r it will only reach 8 degrees on the crankshaft pulley mark at full retard timing! Thanks for your help 🙏

    Are you positive its thread sealer and not sealant (RTV) on the oil pump bolt?

    Big mistake reusing the cam chain gear, also you should have used a METEL timing chain guide, the plastic ones are GARBAGE!

    • @preacher031163
      @preacher031163 ปีที่แล้ว

      The metal guides will cause major damage,thats why toyota dont use them...

      @@preacher031163 Toyota DID use metal guides in early 22r engines. They switched to plastic ones. Metal ones are supposed to be superior

      Actually the stock Toyota oil pan gasket** is rubber impregnated cork & I've always found it to work the best & the longest without leaks. No RTV needed. I also add a dab of Blue (NOT Red) Loctite thread locker to each bolt thread. Once you torque them all down to 9 foot/pounds, they never back out or get loose, & you can easily get the bolts out again later if you need to. ** BTW, the Toyota Oil Pan Gasket part number is 12151-38010. It fits all 20R, 22R & 22RE engines, even the 22RET (Turbo).
