    There's probably a case for fraystop around the edge before the final trim. I'm a leatherworker and we use edge finishers to put a good edge over the layers of the original skin.

    Thanks for this video. Blackwork is my favorite! Just discovered it earlier this year (2022). Like you, I did crosstitching off and on my whole life. 7 years in 4H when I was younger then for a little after college, and now back at it. Discovered blackwork at the Great Lakes EGA retreat. I saw a woman doing it and was instantly in love! Please share your expertise. I love learning from others so I don't have to make all the mistakes myself.

      Thanks for your comment Mandy! I so appreciate you being here! Yes.... I am obsessed with Blackwork also. It's truly a favourite and I love designing it so much. I'm likely going to put together a full tutorial on stitching one of my Blackwork pieces, or maybe a series for people to follow along with. Thanks for the encouragement! 💗🤗

    Hi Chelsea. When you’re doing the back stitch for your outside border, how long will you carry over a back stitch? Do you limit yourself?

    • @ChelseaBunsCrossStitch
      @ChelseaBunsCrossStitch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For that border I went 1 over 1, so traditional back stitch (technically over 2 on this specific piece because it was on evenweave). I try and tie in the stitches as short a distance as possible while still getting the line. There's only one pattern that I've done (not released) that has exceptionally long stitches in it and I'm hesitant to release it for that reason! I think the short answer is, whatever you think looks good. If it's a long, straight stretch of stitches though like the border, I'd do traditional backstitching. Hope this helps!

    Hi there, thanks for the video on the tension hoops. I'm an in-hand stitcher but sometimes I find a hoop is necessary for certain things but the ones I have never keep my fabric taught for very long. On another note, I was trying to read the label of that beautiful opalescent fabric you're demo-ing with, but just couldn't read it. Would you mind sharing the fabric details?
