Korea Local Gourmet tour with Locals,Jecheon
I ate a delicious hand tofu dish in Jecheon, a hidden gourmet travel destination in Korea. Just as Vietnamese rice noodles have slightly different tastes depending on the region, Korean food also has its own characteristics depending on the region.
Jecheon is a region famous for herbal medicine and precious medicinal herbs found in the mountains. I tried hand tofu dish containing a rare medicinal herb called ‘Sancho’, which even Koreans do not have access to easily.
The 'Sancho tofu', which has a pungent scent but spreads gently in your mouth, was unique, but it was enough to represent Jecheon!

There is a certified restaurant in Jecheon called '12 Dal Bapsang' (Which means they serve dishes with seasonal food) that is highly recommended by locals. They make their own sauce that is used in their dishes. In Korea, this sauce is called 'doenjang', which is a type of fermented soybean paste. Making doenjang requires a fermentation process, making it a part of the slow food movement and also beneficial for our bodies. Korean cuisine has various fermented foods, and doenjang is a representative example.
