Clannad Lady Marion (Medieval)
มุมมอง 3303 ปีที่แล้ว
In Assisi during the Calendimaggio Festival (May Day) the entire city becomes Medieval again, electricity is turned off, shop signs covered with branches, and every resident becomes costumed. It is an incredible event. Assisi is the home of both St. Francis and St. Clare, and the film features St. Francis' coarse habit preserved for 800 years. The Iona Mighty Boosh.
มุมมอง 3917 ปีที่แล้ว
Today's weather is fine but with a chance of Chimps. We are a comedy duo who duo hardly anything at all. We'll never be famous cause we don't want to sell out to the corporations, so we keep our comedy to an audience of a small school of beavers.

A gentle and lovely film, brother! 🧡
A gentle and lovely comment, mr.snail ♥
Oh Beautiful Simon! Thanks
What a haunting and beautiful place. The cinematography is wonderful. It's a world that very few get to see or experience.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you. Your timing is great with your comment, it appeared just above a nasty email I got so helps give balance to my day. How nice of you to take the trouble to say so. Feel free to Subscribe. Blessings.
Yeah Dev
Great..part 1 &2
Beautiful video, Simon. Amazing picturing a boy growing up on this island.
Thank you so much David. I went over and met an American descendant of an Islander over there, about your age. He and I had a connection with the very same house, it is magical the way things happen sometimes. I now live facing these islands - I got a great home!
I sense a delightful voyage ahead, a humble tribute to this magnificent place. Let's sail to these mystical islands!
Stunning shots of Blasket. Watching this is the next best thing to actually being there. Hoping to get back someday soon... until then I'll be watching "These Mystical Islands"
Ah, how nice to read Dan.
Looks beautiful. Look forward to seeing the film.

@@elauadeinsfI will LOVE!! We’ll go together :)
Very beautiful shots, looking forward to the film!
Glad you think so. Some 'almost ravens' in there and more in the final film, the orange beaked Choughs.
A special place, wonderful!
Thank you so much for expressing what you think about it, and nice to run into you yesterday!
Beautiful! 💖 you have captured the essence and magic of the island just through the trailer. Can't wait to see the full film 🙏
Thank you so! So nice to be back in touch!
@@elauadeinsf You're welcome! 😊 So glad you reached out and reconnected!
My best memories of my travel in Ireland was there, with you at sunset (this is no romantic declaration, but gratefulness for these days and your encounter). This film relates magically the beauty of the Islands and Ireland
Thank you! It was very memorable for me, too, and even though we spent only a day together I am still in touch with both of you!
Hey Simon, Ariane and I watched now, We love the movie trailler. We look forward to seeing the complete version. It looks like scenes from the Lord of the Rings
such a kind comment, thank you.
Nice one si ! :)
Thank you so much J :)
This looks to be a very special film. Looking forward to seeing it!
What a lovely comment, thank you Erik!
For a couple of seconds, I really thought that was your mum when that woman first appeared!!! A lovely film. Thank you.
I know, it's remarkable how well she looks like my mother. She was the friend of the 'actress; and she was up for it, so we changed actresses!
Beautiful and magical!
That's so nice of you to say! Thank you. Blessings Anne, Simon
There is magic afoot here. Irish Dreamtime. Wonderful stuff. Much love.
What a lovely comment! Thank you so.
Wow Simon. What a beautiful compilation of footage and wonderfully combined with the music. I can't wait to see it in full!
Oh thank you Rosalino, that is very beautiful to hear that you like it. I'm very happy you were touched by it.
So wonderful to be reminded such a place still exists in the time we are in. Thank you, beautiful work. The segment with the bird in flight above the spiky rock (1:10) captivated me.🌻
What a gorgeous and sensitive comment. Thank you! Yes, there is such a place .... and it will I believe always remain like this.
Beautiful!
Thank you Mariana, I'm so glad you like it!
The Irish government will probably build a refugee centre for Sunni Muslims there soon😢
If they ever try to build anything on the island they will have a fight from the people of Kerry! My new trailer for my Blasket Island Film is out now, on my channel.
ASMR is off the charts with your beautiful voice and subject matter.
Thank you Lisa. ASMR is a new term to me,and v interesting, thank you. And for the compliments. Please Subscribe for more film from me coming soon.
Wow! That final warm shot of the sun setting/rising is breathtaking!
Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it, I nearly didn't put it in!
Ì have just seen a Ben Fogle programme about the current couple on the island, which made no mention of any of the previous inhabitants or of Roger and Leslie's time there, a bad omission It was a shame i never visited the island. but I did go to their wedding in Dingle in 1975.
That's lovely to hear Clive! I shall tell my mum when I speak to her today. You can even pass on a message if you'd like. I'm sure she'd like that. She lives in Cornwall near my brother and his kids. We're still all very nature-orientated, and I go back to the island very often. I consider it my home and love how very alive the place is.
What an amazing thing is the internet!
Hi Simon, did you make a video of Marc Broatch-Stevens on Iona by any chance?
Hi Susan, yes, we made a couple of comedy sketches together. I was very, very sad when I learned he passed recently. We were very good friends. He was one of my favourite people, so sad to lose him of all people. Are you a friend of his, too?
@@elauadeinsf can I message you?
@@elauadeinsf yes, I am. He lived with me and my family for some time. Did you make the video of Marc dancing on the hill? We have written a song about him and wondered if you would mind us using your video to accompany it?
@@susanfrisby3762 I made a video of Marc dancing near the beach at the north end of Iona, and he had a unicorn head on. I had forgotten about this. I may have recorded him on the hill but can't remember. It's likely, we did go up there a lot. I have quite a bit of film of him from Iona. It's in my old place in Italy at the moment and I am retrieving it end of January. I can then send you what I have in a film and you can download and edit it. You can also use what you already have if you want to. Yes, you have permission. I could also make a film for you with the song, if you find it difficult to edit, I've edited a lot of films and have the software. Whatever you decide please do share with me the song! I have written a story about him myself and may well put it to film, in time. Marc was an amazing man. I really loved him to bits.

Uplifting. The clouds took my breath away. Thank you for sharing your work.
Thank you. It's a place that still has the purity of eden. The ocean protects it from the wiles of Man. I'm happy you could ge touched by a film of it.
So, so atmospheric
I remember there used to be a large ships bell hanging from a rope slung over the ruin, of a window, in one of the houses built around 1910 by the conjested district board.
Yes, my father and a few others put it there. Now it's outside Peig Sayers' old house, nearby. I am not certain where the bell comes from - it could be that it was a central 'prop' made for the David Lean film 'Ryan's Daughter' and there is already at least one other prop on the island, the wooden bar inside the cafe building, which is faring really very well ! Thank you for your comment. I am releasing a few new short films and interviews on the island soon so feel free to subscribe to get notified.
I have spent many a few days camping on the great Blasket, mainly in the ruins of Tomás O'Criomthain's house, the first year I made the trip to Kerry was summer of 92, but have made my way to Dunquin, the weather was to bad to make the crossing. I was in 94 I eventually got across in an open punt, a Cork man married to a local took about 6 of us into the island. I spent a wonderful evening talking with one of the Dunleavy'S, Paddy I think was his first name, he came back every summer with his family to restore and winter damage to the house with the clochán opposite it, it was a dream come true to converse with him and his memories.
Thank you so, I grew up on the island and remember Patti Dunleavy very well, he used to give my brother and I chocolate rolo's, he was the only other resident. He left a few stones in various places on the island with writing on, his name and perhaps something more. I hope they are still to be seen.
This can only described as "a terrible beauty" 👍👍
yes, it is a merciless place but so real for that, and beautiful.
Living in rural Ireland was hard enough, those islanders, are/were really hardy folk - I'd like to think I could do it but I don't think I could. Great story about your parents and a time and place, when life was quieter and less complicated. Maith thu.
Thank you - yes, it's harder to get that slow and present life nowadays but still possible. Once you get to a place like this you experience this quiet, and there are other islands (west of Scotland, west coast of Italy, and others) where the quiet life exists to this day.
Can’t get over how much this looks and feels like Newfoundland
that's very interesting, and a place i have an interest in.
Tralee =traighliath traban =traigh ban tha Inteach bhideo bho Alba. I remember better on holiday in Ireland 56 years ago than I do 2weeks ago! Great s math sin.
Very deep feelings on Blasket Mor; spent a half day on my own walking the Island, beautiful summer's day. I was suffering from a very bad hangover after a late night in Dingle. The peaceful singing of the meadow pippets and the spirits of these great people brought me deep into myself. When leaving the island I was completely renewed; hangover gone and my woes had lifted and were taken away on the sweet Atlantic breeze
Joseph, that's the best comment ever! a story all who know the island can relate to - thank you.
Truly beautiful shots
reminds one of Earthsea, which I have just started reading! I love it.
Beautiful memories...
and music

Wow, dear Simon, this is amazing. I am so grateful to experience the beauty of this place through the eyes of someone with such sensitivity. it really brings us peace. Thanks!

Teaser is the right word.
So beautiful, Simon! Im glad to see so much sensitivity in these images.

The movement, the color, the presence of a place and of the soul who observe it. Thanks for the beauty created, without a doubt this is a breath of peace 💙
