Brilliant! I bought a snow shovel 25 +/- years ago that is same as traditional (1st) one you showed but has a second pole & handle that’s attached and pivots near blade. It’s perfect for me but if handed to someone taller or shorter, the simple rope design would be better/more comfortable.

Just an observation here from India, would laying a layer of plastic and pouring hot water melt the bottom layer of snow and let you 'push' that layer of snow?
