Thank you so much for your video and views! My grandmother (1903 - 1996) was born in Lofoten with her large family, in a fishing village. The place was called Vall, and when they emmigrated to Canada in 1910 grandma was just 7 or 8 years old. The real name was Inglebrightsons! My grandmother was a star to me! She really wanted to go back. So when she was in her 80s, she went to Lofoten and stayed with distant relatives. Grandma did not seem too impressed with the way the Islanders handled the fish! She said they boiled fish, and it was without flavours. However, her old house on Vall place was still there! She saw the people as old when they were children before. It was an amazing experience. She said they loved the midnight sun! I want to go back to Norway, I am 65, and if I can, I might go back and stay. We will see what is in store. I plan to live to 94, like Grandma! Thank you again. 🤩🤩🤩

So do the locals identify as Russian or Finns?

Just found this video of yours. Greetings from Kotka. That is the place from where this coastal service vessel starts to Haapasaari, and some other islands in this region. Actually, long time ago, I have been working on that vessel Rosala II as an AB. Back in the days, when it was still at the Sea of Archipelago.

The best documentary about Finnish Sauna

I am writing from Halifax, Canada. My Grandfather, Emil Zilliacus owned and lived on an Island called Hapenensaari in the Vyborg Sound which is now part of Russia. In the golden pre war years I am sure he would have sailed to your lovely outpost. Thank you for sharing it. The names are so close. Saari is of course island in English but would you know what Hapenen might mean? It was never translated to me. Keep up your fine videos, Ben Weeks
