I am on a journey to find flashlights with outstanding value and size-to-performance ratios. This often involves testing that I like to call "almost science" as we try battery options, weigh pros and cons, and compare torches with one another.
With so many incredible lights on the market, I hope this channel can be of service to you on your own quest to find the right options for you. I appreciate your support and I hope you enjoy the content and community!

You can always get a AAA battery any where
I love the i3t and after seeing your videos I too use a 10440 cell in mine and it works wonderfully. I like it so much I have an i3t plus in bamboo on the way. in searching the web no one has done 10440 tests in an i3t plus. If you havea video on it, I haven't found it, or any others for thet matter. Care to do one of your great 10440 tests in an i3t plus? 3:14 3:16
Nice! The Bamboo i3T Plus looks really nice 👍 I have not tried the i3T Plus yet but I don’t think 10440s will work in it. Basically, when batteries are stacked, the overall voltage gets doubled. I don’t think the light internals would be able to handle the voltage because it would be around 7.4v or so. I personally would not risk trying it but hopefully that info helps.
@@PardonMyEnglish That helps a lot. Then I don't think I'll risk it by putting 10440's. Guess I'll find some nice AAA rechargeables instead. Thank you so much for the quick reply. Really enjoy your channel and the information you provide. Keep up the fun.
Now the search for a 10880 I guess. See that pineapple light has one, but seem to be a rare find in the wild. The search begins.
I just ordered a lumentop 3.0 today and I’m confident it’s the right light for me With that said I can’t take my eyes off the olight, that thing is just gorgeous to look at
Man, this would be my absolute go to if it had reverse charging. Do you know of something comparable that has it?
Yeah, 2-way charging would be sweet! I don’t know of any alternative with similar output and features unfortunately.
@@PardonMyEnglish guess we’ll have to wait for the ts24 haha
Can’t wait for mine! Got it for $47.99 on Amazon. I hope it’s worth it!? And I hope it carries easily in pockets?
Nice! It is one of Olight’s best in my opinion.
It looks as though it was a two hand operation for you to activate the tailswitch. Is it dificult to engage?
No, not difficult. This short video shows that a bit better: Jetbeam E26 Kunai in Orange th-cam.com/users/shortsYZ8ywuPry-Y?feature=share
This is no a flat flashlight. It is pretty thick
Thinner than a 18650 flashlight.
@@PardonMyEnglish Sure but there are real flat flashlights such as Klarus e5 an this does not fit that category. I know you will double down as hard as you can to defend you little video but it is not correct. Good luck.
I hope the flashlight police pay you well.
@@PardonMyEnglish I hope someday you'll grow up and stop being so predictable.
What are the screw points on the back? Is that access to internals?
Good question. Yes, I believe so.
Thanks for the review. I’m a sucker for orange! I like the tactical tail switch. I don’t think I’ll be venturing out of the olight world for this one though…
I've actually thought about an "Olight Arkfeld" with a tactical tailswitch quite recently! I'm glad it exists 🙂 I did not like the uncovered USB-C port and the locking mechanism though. Even if the USB-C port is water resistant it can still collect dust and debris that get stuck and make it harder to charge of not cleaned out regularly. The locking mechanism doesn't seem safe enough. If feels like the dial is gonna accidently twist to unlock mode.
Valid concerns. I had that same thought about dust but then I remembered that my phone has an open port as well and doesn’t seem to have an issue.

Great design and and simple user interface. I agree that it would be nice to be able to replace the battery on wedge style flashlights, or they could at least offer a lifetime warranty so that you can swap it for another if the battery dies.
Good call 👍
I agree with the built in battery comment. I want the capacity to switch the battery if need be. Awesome light. Keep 'em coming ;-) Cheers
Nice! Yeah, hopefully manufacturers start seeing comments like this and bring some flat flashlights to market with replaceable batteries 🤞
@@PardonMyEnglish Again, I agree. If "Flat" lights start picking up in popularity, manufacturers should start offering replaceable batteries. Cheers
olight is usually overpriced item compared to other similar items
What alternative to the Baton Turbo do you prefer?
@@PardonMyEnglish I had a really bad experience with the olight arkfeld so i bought a workkos light similar to the baton ..half the price after coupon . it is bright and so far i am pleased with the results
Nice, Wurkkos is solid 👍
Best light ever
i would not buy an arkfeld again. bought one six month ago. with a lot of fanfare and promotion from youtubers. not very bright . and cost alot more than others.. maybe triple the price. don't buy
i just got the wurkkos light. it is pretty bright .. the olight one i got previously was a piece of $ h i T the only thing that the grommit for the water resistant came off and i cannot put it back in because the rubber knob i cannot push it back in to the hole as it seem to be too small trying to manually put it back
I’ve had an i3t for about 6 or 7 years. Had the clip break on my once a few years back but aside from that no issues until recently. The button cap is getting a bit sticky and slow. I’m gonna buy a few more of these and leave em around the place.
Reminds me of the old Surefire M4 Devestator. Big turbo head light that ran on 4 123 cell batteries.
🫵🏾😎👍🏾
Would you still recommend this light over others for this price point?
This titanium version is nice but I’d recommend the aluminum i3T to almost anyone because it is a great flashlight for $20 in my opinion. There are other options on the market but nothing that beats the i3T for the money in my opinion.
Finally got a chance to use my i5t in real total darkness. Camped about 20 miles outside Yosemite and it's so dark we could see like a million stars and starling satellites going by. My i5t made it possible for us to hang outside at night.. the high setting was just enough. Low 15 lumens was surprisingly dull. The full high 250 lumens though did great. It made me realize though I won't go camp again with anything under probably 500 lumens. Cause at best I could see maybe 50' in front of me and I wanted more of a spotlight out there.
Sounds like an amazing experience! Glad the i5T worked well enough and I hope you find a great next flashlight for future adventures.
@@PardonMyEnglish yeah it’s hard to find one that does 500+ lumens longer than a few minutes. Any suggestion?
You’d probably want a flashlight that uses a larger rechargeable battery, such as a 21700 battery. If you are looking for an economic option, I’d consider Wurkkos or Sofirn. They have outstanding options for $40 and under. If you have a bigger budget, you could really look into so many options. It almost gets overwhelming but I’d check out reviews from several different sources to see which ones people seem to like best.
Great light. But double click to turbo, triple click for strobe is a no go for me in a tactical light. Might as well rock a Baton Turbo with that UI. Smaller and better candela. I went with the FC12. Not quite as intense a hot spot, but it now has a tactical mode with one click from off to turbo. If they change the TD05 UI to match the FC12, I would upgrade to the TD05.
Brilliant! Thank you 😀 I downloaded the app and was so frustrated because it was just the O'Light website 🤦🏻♀🤦🏻♀ Never noticed the "Add Device"!
What app do i use? Obulb pro?
The app is called “Olight” in the App Store.
es un reproductor de musica ademas de linterna o es solo un simple altavoz?
Good question. It is a Bluetooth speaker.
thanks for the discount code
Charger blinks red and green and won't charge any batteries anymore, do you know how to fix??
Are you using the right batteries?
@@PardonMyEnglish Yes, I bought the 8 pack of Amazon brand nimh battery and made sure the charger was nimh compatible. I might try another brand charger.
Yeah, usually when the lights blink it means there is some kind of error related to battery compatibility. At least on the chargers I’ve used.
work on smartlife app ?
Good question. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the smartlife app.
@@PardonMyEnglish ok thank you
Nice video! Cool to know some reliables AA rechargeable batteries. Do you happen to know a fiable charger for 10440 batteries? I’m using the ones you recommended (pkcell) but charger is being picky charging them.
If you’re willing to spend around $30, I recommend the MiBoxer C4 Charger. It can charge a variety of sizes and battery chemistries. It can also conduct capacity tests if you want to. Link to MiBoxer C4 on Amazon: amzn.to/4bxkKYp
I had been eyeing this new model for a couple of days and came to a conclusion that it came to be through brazen decisions, pivoting head flashlight is nothing new yet almost every aspects of the HD11 radiates trade-offs and compromises. Pivoting head forgo some amount of resistance against moisture and fine dust, introduces a mechanical failure point- which is already an issue for a fair amount of unlucky owners whose reporting their HD11's joint loosened considerably just minutes away since unboxing, allegedly reflecting a factory-defect or design oversight. The red emitters aren't advertised as to provide illumination but ones can surmise it's for use like a beacon, hence the extreme beam artifact. E-switch placement is a major facepalm, Wurkkos seemingly prioritized ambidextrous handheld operation by positioning it at the opposite side of the lens when the head is rotated to 90°, but if you were to clip the HD11 onto something like backpack strap for instance the switch will be facing inward and blocked from access, ones can imagine trying to slip a thumb through the gap to operate the light but this is straight-up frustrating design choice.
There are 3 types listed online the black one and white one and the flurosence one and i ordered the fluorescence one that glows..-But does the white one will glow?it looks same like your but i think it does not have fluorescence
Nice review.
Please I want light so cal me tamilnadu
Will the Vapcell H10 fit in the HD10?
I’m sorry but I don’t have one to try that.
got mines yesterday, and WOW, impressive little light, amazing throw for the size, it defies physics :D
Definitely an interesting light, especially for utility purposes. I agree about the red light being terrible with those artifacts.
The Wurkkos HD11 is one that I was looking into just a few hours ago and it was funny seeing this video come out. That deep clip is also something I want to try. Though despite the interest I would not be getting one since I already have 3 lights and another one (Wurkkos DL16) that will be arriving in a few days. I find the rotating head flashlights interesting, but at the same time can't justify the cost and practically of being a jack of all trades and master of none compared to a dedicated headlamp with an included headband like the HD25L from Wurkkos that's a bit over 8USD compared to the HD11 which costs around 25USD in my country.
The DL16 is very much an impulse purchase haha. Main reason was that I saw it was normally around 21.5USD, but I ended up getting it for 8USD due to vouchers and other things that reduced the price significantly. Secondly I want to try a tail switch flashlight since the ones I have are all side switch models. The lack of internal charging doesn't bother me since a charger comes with the DL16 and lacking a charging mechanism in the body has the benefit of better dust and water protection since at times I use flashlights in rains and storms.
Dang! You got a great deal on that 🤜🤛
I ordered one and a baton turbo during the sale. Aaaaand the post office lost the package somehow.
Noooo!!!
The ESKTE Skilhunt H200 right angle 🔦 is far superior. With the H200, you get a choice between two Nichia 519A LEDs in 3000K or 4500K or a Cree XP-G4 LED in 6500K. The red light LED is a Cree XP-E2 (620-630nm). It is available in 18650 and 18350 🔋 size. I bought both models in 3000K, which I use the 18350 as a headlamp (better suited because of the lighter weight) and the 18650 as my flashlight. The only thing the Perun 3 has over the H200 is the ON/OFF switch. It is better to have an all-metal ON/OFF switch over a silicone one.
Can strobe be disabled completely?
Good question. Not to my knowledge.
Strobe will stop an aggressive dog or some other animal from attacking you at dark or in low light. th-cam.com/video/3jFRFbDUuSk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wlrMDn1fufN8uuxD
Looks like the Nitecore HC-35.
For those who don’t use sandpaper much in their lives…. 80 grit is VERY coarse. This isn’t about simply abrading at that level, 80 grit is removing material. This would remove surface material on hardened steel. This is not a good example of wear & tear on an aluminum flashlight. Holy crap 😂
Yes, this was not to mimic wear and tear but to test OAL. I was very impressed that only the oxidized surface seems to have been effected. Crazy stuff and I hope they make more lights with it
Sandpaper was impressive 😮
Great idea! My blackout kit is pretty simple. A couple of LT1S lanterns and a couple of IF23s with a bunch of back up batteries. Love the reverse charging on both.
Great video! Love the LT1S! Great idea on the jar attachment.
Thank you! The jar is one of my proudest accomplishments haha
Great video! I would love to see a Wuben E6 video if they will send it to you. I think it would make a great comparison to the new Baton Turbo. Similar size and output. Different batteries, UI, pocket clips.
mostly spherical
I haven't figured out how to add two Sphere units yet. I have to delete one before I can add the second one.
Good question. I wonder if you can pair the second with the first by triple clicking it when it’s already on. I don’t know for sure as I only have one but that is what I’d try if you are not able to add the second as a new device in the App. Hope that helps and hopefully someone else jumps in the comments section with the answer for us!
@@PardonMyEnglish I sent the question to Olight support. Hopefully they can explain it.
@PardonMyEnglish I figured it out. Tapping the little + at the upper right of the app allows the second one to be added. I don't recall having to do this to add the first one (it seems easier and almost automatic). Both Sphere units are now present and named so I can identify them.
Oh cool! Thank you for sharing for the rest of us 🤜🤛
Mine won’t link to Bluetooth. The app instructions say to hold it for five seconds in white mode until it blinks red then green that doesn’t work either.
Thanks for the review. 😊 And how good is the flashlight if it’s on the left side (opposite side)? Does it fit well? I operate the switch with my left hand.
Yes, it works well on the left side. The switch will probably be operated by your thumb but the headlamp system works well on either side 👍
@@PardonMyEnglish Thanks again. And yet again, another question. Does the flashlight fit in the clamp with the clip properly? On the opposite side? 😅
The ESKTE Skilhunt H200 right angle 🔦 is far superior. With the H200, you get a choice between two Nichia 519A LEDs in 3000K or 4500K or a Cree XP-G4 LED in 6500K. @@AlcoveShadow That’s so informative! Thanks so much for the reply. I’ve seen some Skilhunt vids and programable UI. Let me check the H200. Enjoy your weekend and God bless! 🙋🏻♂️😊🙏🏼
At about 5 minutes in you were pointing out the proximity sensor, not a motion sensor. As I see already commented, the hook shown at about 7:32 minutes, is to aid in the installation of the lanyard, to pull it through the hole. This could have use in threading other lanyards, etc., so a useful little tool to have if one can keep track of it. This proximity sensor only works if the lens is occluded as turbo is turned on or within 0.5 seconds of activation. So although it can be disabled, I don't know why one would want to, unless a fire is needed. Thanks for the video.
Ah yes, good catch. Proximity sensor, not motion sensor.
