About 20 people are thought to be sleeping rough in the town - more than six times the figure for the region’s biggest cities Newcastle and Sunderland. One of the charity’s that helps homeless young people is Community Campus 87. Helen went to the charity to find out more…

    My husband's family left Heton Le Hole and immigrated to a mining town on the border of New York and Pennsylvania, USA called Morris Run. Great grandfather Matthew Atkinson, his wife Emma (Lewis) Atkinson left with their sons, the youngest being Clark Atkinson around 1888-1891. They had also lived in Chester le Street.

    Neat pics, and I saw the sculpture around a year ago, and it's really worthwhile seeing, so you did a great job raising money to have it installed there on the main street through Hetton.
