Does the exhaust material make a difference to engine sound? This is a comparison of a Ti (titan) header compared to stainless steel and mild steel exhausts. Could you tell them apart?
Whats the engine maisteer uses?
I think the titanium sounded brighter or more vivid, where the mild steel had a light dampening effect probably by converting some of the exhaust sound pressure into vibrational heat more effectively as mild steel much softer than titanium.
You can’t beat a cross plane v8 for sheer riddim. It has lovely feral growl to it, like an old blues man.

I never understood. If a I6 has perfect engine balance too, why would the V angle of a V12 matter?
Some bank angles like the ones he said (iirc, 60, 90, and 120 or something like that) are perfectly balanced by themselves. Let’s say you make a narrow angle v12 (like 40° or so), you would probably need a crank with offsets in it, like the cranks in the VR and W engines from VW or have balance shafts or something. Or if you go too wide, like 150°, similar deal. I’m not sure about flat 12s which are technically 180° v12s

I have one on my Integra. Custom made. One of the first ones to debut to my knowledge.
I have thought that the sound was alot harsher than it should on my old gixxer 750. it turns out it has the titanium manifold from newer K-series 1000 gixxer
honestly i like the sound of stainless over titanium. the titanium sounded too raspy / metallic for my taste

does material make a big difference? isnt it more smoothness of the surface and that its welded from the outside?
Titanium is stronger, so it can be made out of thinner sheet thickness. That's for the biggest part why it sounds different (more vibrations coming trough)

When the engine is so powerful you can't hold it in place
i prefer steel, it sounds smoother and more bassy. The material on the titanium pipe is thinner so it has a lot more vibration, which sounds thinner, more raspy and aggressive
The mild steel was the best of both worlds
Good description seems accurate too in terms of describing the sound quality differences. I imaging the titanium much lower mass from the thinner tubing and higher strength to weight ratio and similarly more expensive

It's a more exotic sound, usually for high end high revving cars. High frequency resonance do to its lack of ductility.
