Some bank angles like the ones he said (iirc, 60, 90, and 120 or something like that) are perfectly balanced by themselves. Let’s say you make a narrow angle v12 (like 40° or so), you would probably need a crank with offsets in it, like the cranks in the VR and W engines from VW or have balance shafts or something. Or if you go too wide, like 150°, similar deal. I’m not sure about flat 12s which are technically 180° v12s

I never understood. If a I6 has perfect engine balance too, why would the V angle of a V12 matter?
