Hoping that all is well with you and thst you will again start your loop adventure not thst I miss you two but Yorkie well yes I miss the making sure things go smoothly
Been awhile we need a yorkshire fix
I don't know if you heard, but watching another channel, they said that Jeremy had passed away. Don't know the details.
@@johnmarschalk1977 yes very sad he helped so many people over the years
I carry a jump pack where ever I go. It has an air compressor which fills tires faster than the ones at a gas station that costs $2 or 3. Saved me a couple of times. Not sure of the brand, but it was a Walmart for $80. Bought one for my wife and daughter and gave a couple as Christmas gifts too. Would think that would be a must have on a boat doing the loop. Especially if going to Bahamas.
Cruising Andromeda is a good follow on the loop. They're from Luddington. You can sympathize with them on boat repairs. Hit something in Mobile bay and spent months in Gulf Shores on repairs.
Ludington is correct spelling
I just ordered Starling for the house. Assuming I can move it to a boat for the loop when I get one. New procedure when you order now is you set up password/login while you're ordering. New dish has 120 degree field and it's 40% off the $500. Probably have to change from residential to mobile plan to put on a boat. Live in the woods and trees interfere w my satellite tv antenna and my internet is spotty when it switches to streaming. Hope this solves that so I can put a tv on the porch and watch college football!
@@johnmarschalk1977 Thanks. We had RV StarLink and as long as we stayed coastal we were fine. Of course Sea Moose moves pretty slow!
@@theadventuresofyorksieandme That's what I've heard. The roaming plan is about $30 more a month. If I had to, I'd do it. Review from 24 hours of service is that it's way better than the broadband coming wired to the house. Still get some dropouts, but dish isn't optimally placed yet and live in the woods w trees all around house
@@johnmarschalk1977 It crushes 4G/5G and no monthly caps. As a database developer I could burn an entire month of cellular in a day if I wasn’t careful 😀
@@theadventuresofyorksieandme LOL. Stream a sports station out of Knoxville. Daughter and I going up to see a game and get message that data was being close to gone. called wife and she'd changed unlimited plan while we were on the road! Switched back quickly. Process control guy here. Mainly HVAC and remote handling. Pumps, valves, Chillers and fans, At a loss on video, data etc.. But I'm learning
@@johnmarschalk1977 What we learned the hard way - with AT&T is that “unlimited” doesn’t actually mean unlimited at all. I ended up with two “Unlimited” phone numbers at confiscatory pricing, and even doing all my work through remote desktops still ran over. That was when we said enough is enough, stopped in Fulton, ordered StarLink and waited for it to arrive…
Followed Sea-Clef on their loop. They were the boat you called leaving one of the locks telling the how fast (or slow) you could run
Is this the right place?
It sure is! Welcome to our channel.
Running the Detroit and St Clare River system at 4 knots you have to give way. It’s a wide river system so it’s kind off in some parts where your just going up the middle of the river, especially with the race boats. Also the section at the blue water bridge is the most important turn for the freighters, but there you are in the way. Be aware of your surroundings for the safety of yourself and others
@@NIN34 Thanks! Hope you watch enjoy the rest of our loop adventure which is still in production 😀
Thanks!!
I believe the Erie Canal closes early in October you might want to check if your not already done.
@@thomasnicholas8480 Hi Thomas thanks for the comment. We finished the loop late in the season last year but stay tuned plenty of great content left to publish!
Great segment guys real, informative, shows the relationship you have I enjoyed it very much
THANKS!
Gkad to see Yorkshire back navigating the water ways I often beat down from St. Petersburg to Venice to lunch at pop's used to be a nice home town restaurant they remodeled expanded and ruined it from my prospective. Florida is getting prohibitively expensive for anyone other than than wealthy our fastest new condo building in downtown is slated to be over 50 stories is selling fir 1100 a sq. ft it's about half way up and is 2/3's sold out.
Thanks Dave you are one of our most loyal fans and we really appreciate it! $1100 a square foot, outrageous!
THANKS!
Hope you liked it! Another one coming out on the 3rd of July.
Wow, what a trip. My wife and I have talked about the great loop, but she is a little scared of the water. It's just as well since we don't have the money to get a boat right now. Thanks again for the great video.
Probably best she doesn’t watch THIS episode 🤣
I think maybe the big bend will be good for me!
Amen brother!
Missed you all and happy to see you again!
Thank you so much! Will have the next one out sooner 😀
Glad to see you back and that all is well thanks for posting
We hope to finish video production before we start another adventure 😀
THANKS!
I stumbled across this video a year too late. I'm intimacy aware of this water way as I was born in Algonac. Your experience in this area didn't surprise me. I've lived in North Carolina for more than 12 years now and I'm ashamed to say how well I know this waterway. I plan on doing the great loop and sorry to say I know what days and times to pass through this area.
Thanks! Algonac is lovely. We enjoyed North Carolina - especially the seafood that video is coming.
Flare would work good on that. But you would have to upgrade your electronics
Every blog you tow post I stop the video and go to Google maps and find were you are, ie. Anchord or docked so I'm following along mile by mile. I hope that doesn't creep you tow out. I just like seeing all the different tracks and stops different people make and decide on while making there own loop journey..Just have fun.
Thank you for sharing the UGLY!!! the loop is never all roses and drinks with umbrellas. I have been binge watching since i fond ypur videos, i absolutely love how honest you are thank you. Looking foward to riding along with all of you for the rest of your journey, remember take care of the admiral and Yorkie and you first then think about vlog's don't let our wants be demands. Just be safe. God Bless, frai winds and following seas.
Thank You so much Scott, this is EXACTLY the channel we wanted to make to show people what it is really like.
When you don’t check the weather forecast before you leave, you get what you deserve. But then, powerboaters aren’t really seamen
Yes, and when the weather forecast calls for 1 to 2 foot seas for three days before you leave, rig the boat for heavy weather! When I was cruising on sailboats I always put in a reef before the sun went down even if it was dead calm ;)
Never trust the forecast from NOAA, always underestimated. Do you have Windy and picket Grib? Both are far more accurate. Wise man to reef at sunset. Too bad it was a trawler if you were in your sailboat you could have hove too and ridden it out confortably.
You are absolutely right of course. I'm a weather fanatic, was a Skywarn Spotter for years, have Windy, Radar Omega, and Bouycast. Will check out picket grib that's a new one. Compared to a sailboat with a deep keel a trawler's flat aft shape has a snap roll that isn't pleasant at all. I choose trawler for the loop, as most of it is rivers/ICW/canals and from a livability .vs. length perspective the trawler is much nicer to live on for a year. Sea Moose's hull is an inch thick solid glass with a full length keel filled with concrete and rocks - I would not own a powerboat without a skeg rudder protecting the prop - but with those big glass windows that make it so livable big waves are a no no unless you taking them on the bow or the stern. Unlike a sailboat, if you lose propulsion and go broadside to the waves you're going to be in big trouble. I met a guy with an MT 34 D/C who was off the coast of Georgia and rolled it so far over the floorboards came out - and it didn't roll over, but still... had to be sixty to seventy degrees of heel can you imagine that :) @@scomo532
The lightning shot in your video showed snow capped mountains with trees . Impossibility in the area you were sailing.
Guilty as charged! Very observant of you. Yes, it's stock footage. Impossible to video lightning when the boat is heaving around :)
did you ask your Yorkie if he wanted to risk his life on the high seas...?
Hi Debrorah! I don't think Yorksie would have been too keen on the idea...
So happy to see you back congrats for the crossing and certainly you elected to take the long haul. And the old adage applies thst which does not kill you makes you stronger. You be strong fair winds and calm seas are fine but they don't tend to make the memories
Thanks Dave! We'll get the rest of the loop processed and catch everyone up on our new pusuits.
Scary! 😮
Outstanding edition
We get the same vortex effect in the waters of southeast, Alaska, due to the extreme nature of the tides here. Our tides can vary up to 25 feet during the spring king tides. I’ve had places I’ve been through in my sailboat, where my whole speed of 6 kn is bumped up to 14 kn Because there’s 8 kn of current during the height of the ebb or flood tide. Looks like the Mississippi river is lower than normal these days. I wonder if this is a long-term drought that’s causing that issue. By the way, I’m looking at buying one of the 34 foot CHB trawlers so I appreciate your channel. I’m 6’4” tall am I understanding is that some of the main cabins in the strollers for up to 6’8” tall. How tall is the interior of yours?
I’m 6’2”, Darina is 5’ 11” we did fine, you need to duck going between the forward and aft cabins. The aft bunk is 6’, we built a larger piece for the berth, if I did it again I would create a single large cushion up there. In a rolly anchorage it’s too loud up front. 25 feet if tide amazing. I started my boating career in So Cal where it can be 10, I can’t imagine how much swing room you need in 25’ of tide! We’re thinking of going motor home as we are seriously getting into long distance bicycle touring and that would make the perfect home base. Shoot me a PM I have 250k in Sea Moose and would let it go for 60k 😀
It’s hard to tell. Are you suggesting all go-fast boaters are rude, or these particular boaters were rude? It felt like the former, which would be making a big generalization as well.
Darina and I also own a 27’ Express which definitely puts us in the go fast crowd. That being said we would never pass a sailboat, or people fishing, or someone going 5, 6 knots while blasting along at 25 knots plus! The Detroit River - and parts of New Jersey - were full of power boaters blasting by seemingly as close as they could. As you’ll see in a not yet released episode one fellow in NJ waked us so bad in shallow water the swimstep hit the bottom!!
@@theadventuresofyorksieandme I think it's important to be courteous and attempt to pass in a respectful manner, and create distance when possible. I also know that If I passed you going 12-20 knots it would make a much larger wake than if I'm going 25+ knots. Speed is your friend in that case as the wake is reduced. Unless ultimately the person passing you is going slow to no wake speeds, which also can be nearly impossible to pass people, because the vessel being overtaken also doesn't slow down enough. Some fast boats are rude, but some slower boats are also rude. I would say they should try to create space, but beyond that if they're not in a now wake zone and attempt to be courteous, what more can you ask?
@@buroakridgehomestead5995 Absolutely. Call the boat ahead of you on 16. Announce your intentions. Agree on the pass side. If you’re the vessel being overtaken, slow down for sure. When you do the rivers it’s critical etiquette for the commercial tows. Thanks!
Great video. And an incredible adventure! Thanks for posting. Have a Yorkie rescue dog found wandering around in Fairfield California! Chipped even. Owner would not respond. Suspect Sofie was a breeding dog.
Thanks! We’ll be completing the series now that we are back home, stay tuned!
Did we experience another boating issue really miss your adventures
I had to look up the correct spelling for Tarzan. It is or was Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan from1932-1948). He was also an Olympic (5) gold medalist and 1 bronze. Should have done my research before I commented. Worked in Silver Springs not Taron Springs. Boy, I really messed this up. I suppose that's what happens when something happened over 68 years ago. From now on, I'll keep my comments to myself.
In the 50's, I met Johnny Weismiller (spelling???)(Tarzan) there. It was family vacation and you could actually buy natural sponges there. I also took a cruise on a glass bottom boat. Doubt any of this exist today, but fun for an eight year old! Ha ha. Safe travels. Semper Fi.
That's awesome. We found quite a few sponge shops in Tarpon Springs after we got across the gulf. Who knows maybe they were imported from China! Thanks for the comment Alan.& Darina
Poor Yorksie. Maybe put her on the floor. In the rough waters. She was scared trying to find her footing. .. a big comforter in the dash so it surrounds her body works great. I had 4 tiny toy poodles 16 yrs and traveled every where with them . Just a suggestion . Thanks for sharing
Hi Jeannie and welcome to the channel. Yorksie has a little round pillow, and a little square pillow for everyday napping, and a giant soft human pillow that goes on the floor when it gets bouncy. She's quite the Sea Dog, only got Sea Sick once so far on the Great Lakes. 4 tiny toy poodles, AWESOME do you have any pictures to share? We would love to see them on Yorksie's facebook page. Happy Travels and Thanks again for your comments Alan & Darina

Welcome back 🎉. I know the feeling of being lied too. That's why my cruiser is sitting on the hard. I spoke to his references. I finally learned he was a great truck mechanic not a marine mechanic 😮
Hi Dale. The saga of Basic Power Industries and their shoddy rebuilds continues to this day. Will devote an entire episode to it soon, Alan & Darina
As a widower I'm hoping to find that unparalleled devotion again. At 68 yrs. I'm finding out that is difficult. What did you mean..." beans & franks at a Texas camp "
Stay strong, it can happen, God wants us all to be happy. Darina worked as a camp counselor in Texas :)
I know what you mean about small town living. I was raised in a Christian farming community. We would play football in the cow pasture cause it was forbidden to trample the crops in the field 😢
We both grew up in small towns, where you learn to make your own fun. Were you raised in the Midwest?
There is no way I can go that route with my cruiser 😮
I subscribe to Sholl & Jo. He got my attention when he fell on the dock at Crisfield, MD. The Eastern Shore DEL-MAR-VA people just shook our heads. Hope you have a safe journey. Maybe we will meet on the water.
Meeting up would be awesome! We're working our way up the North Carolina shores this week headed to your neck of the woods.
Hoping all is well with you, I've missed your posts
