    the issue is, if sharpning is free and can done near instantly at any point then why even have degrading sharpness and wetstones? if your going to hand hold THIS hard then just remove the system and give weapons a flat sharpness.

    I think you (or maybe some of the people in the discussions you've seen) might have it a bit off. Yeah, the game isnt out, but there are still some pretty solid conclusions you can make if you've been around the series for a while--and also some misconceptions if you haven't. This situation? It's a bit of both. People will absolutely try this, but it most likely won't be a super common thing in the long run. Non-HH users arent taking into consideration how hard it'll be to maintain buffs through constant weapon swaps while also using an entirely different weapon. It locks you out of another weapon choice to pretty much use your main with HH micromanaging awkwardly slapped on, and because of how inefficient it'll likely be it's probably not even at a net positive. They'll learn. On the other end of the spectrum, HH users would rather not have our entire weapon class reduced to a handful of buffs in the eyes of the greater community. It's kinda lame and reductive, especially with how many awesome things they're adding to the weapon when using it as an actual weapon. That said, nerfing it so that it's not a go to secondary option (which again, it won't be for long) is the wrong answer and anyone suggesting it isn't thinking big picture. The weapon isn't the variable to adjust for balance, it's the weapon swap feature itself. THAT'S where tweaks should happen if any were going to, because that's what allows any hypothetical exploits to be possible

      @@KrokThrasher yeah the personal opinion is more just personal opinion, I'll 100% claim being totally biased there lol. Is what it is. It's the more overall state of the game stuff that concerned me more tbh, but honestly in hindsight (just got finished getting a few chances to play HH at Twitchcon) it's looking like they did pay some attention to the possible balancing concerns. Using HH as a full weapon rather than as a handful of boosts could end up having a LOT of advantages...

    The maps are gonna be much larger, and the monsters are gonna be traversing much further distances during fights. We've already seen that the Seikret is gonna be a pretty core component of the game, so being able to prepare for the next encounter whilst on the move sounds like a no brainer. And the beauty of it all; if you don't like sharpening on the move, you've still got the option to sharpen on the ground, like normal. Simple as. The people complaining are just looking for attention. Play the game however you want, as long as you're having fun :)

      Been playing since MH1. None of the modern issues are new. Let’s take infinite healing due to restocking potions at camp. We already had that. Camps used to have beds that fully healed you for free, since the first game. It’s not a new casualisation it’s a change to an existing mechanic Same thing here, we used to have zoning. We also had special items like whetfish scales that instantly sharpened your weapon making it trivial. Granted they were annoying to farm but they existed.

    Totaly agree. I don't remember a single time when i had to sharpen mid fight. There are so many sharpness skills that already makes this mechanic irrelevant especially in rise / sunbreak.

    I think there is a different way to see Ruri's point, you said that you haven't seen anyone sharpen in combat. I think that is the source of the problem, the sharpening mechanic is a core part of the game and now it is not used other than when changing locations. That makes the mechanic useless. But it is what made a good fight so interesting, managing to balance dps and keeping your weapons top shape was a great feature that made all fights feel more engaging because you had to learn where to hit to do the best damage while losing as little sharpeness as possible.

      The topic was sharpening on mount I meant sharpening on mount. I didn't see people sharping on mount. Sharpening isn't useless come on man. I sort of agree with the last part when you get endgame gear sharpening becomes less active in combat but in low rank and high rank that isn't a thing I don't think

      @@KrokThrasher i did more than my share of co-op to help lower ranked players on the "wall" monsters (especially in world/iceborn) and sadly I will have to say yes I have seen a lot of players waiting until the monster changes locations before sharpening even if their weapons are bouncing...

      @@KrokThrasher but yesif the mount can be used while in combat and is programmed to walk around trying to evade the monster, I see why it could be problematic. There was a glitch with Temporal mental that it doesn't deplete while you are mounted, that allowed people to just stay there and play support without having to worry about damage for the whole hunt. Was it rare to see happen? Yes obviously, but it can still lead to other problems.

    People that are complaining about a weapons buff being op when it’s one of the main mechanics of the weapon is crazy. As a hunting horn main I will forever be tooting and booping, will probably end up using the slot for 2 horns with different buffs.

    In world i also sharpened when going from A to B, and it did NOT feel good to stop in place not running after the monster, this will make the immersion feel much better. As well as someone that is not good but atleast above average, sharpening does NOT take skill to do in combat, its annoying to hear people that cant differentiate between quality of life and actual game mechanic knowledge and skill.

    Hello , Monster hunter boomer 2 cents here so take it only with a grain of salt. Often when people talking about game mechanics they get too tied to up to the difficulty argument on monster hunter but there is more than that. A lot of “clunky “ aspects gave the games their own flavor, quite literally there is no other game like monster hunter that does “tactical” meele combat well (dark souls came after and has less moves and weapon expresion) , you dance with the monster and take turns. I understand that sharpening is annoying because it seems like it takes away of the combat , but its part of a greater whole that makes the experience so Unique a great. In my opinion its not a matter of conviene or updating, its a matter of uniqueness in a time where action games are beginning to play the same. Sorry for taking your time, i just wanted to put a little bit of that perspective

      I completely understand your argument however I think streamlining the sharpening process is good for the overall health of the series. As a newer player to the series I have begun falling in love with how deliberate and careful many aspects of this game can be. However there is a point in which systems can be too punishing, restricting or plain annoying. The sharpening system is one of these systems that combines all 3 of these problems. Its too punishing that I will be mid combo on a downed monster absolutely pummeling it, then all of a sudden my weapon just starts bouncing off like Im hitting a brick wall with a butter knife. I mostly play solo, so having to sharpen my weapon sometimes twice mid combat to avoid deflections is plain and simply devoid of fun. Made worse by the restrictions the game puts in place such as immediately gaining monster aggro when sharpening. And I mean immediately, sometimes they aggro on me before I even pull out the whetstone. This system might be one of the single most annoying mechanics Ive found in a game because it does very little to add to the overall fun of the game and instead actively punishes you for having a long epic battle. Again this is just my opinion, but the trade offs are absolutely not worth the benefit to me. Not even close.

    the way i look at it. is whilst yes, there is a degree of skill expression in combat sharpening. its also a skill expression that can be bypassed, you can get a whetfish and sharpen almost instantaneously, combine this with a sharp deco and sharpening just before combat. and you have now effectively bypassed said need to be skillfull. my point is, how much do you need to take away? if sharpening is skill expression (which i do agree with) then using decos and consumables that allow you to bypass that skill expression should be removed, cos they make the game too easy. now a thought i have, is if people in rise remember. back in rise because of the improved verticality of maps you could stand places monsters couldnt hit you and if you did they'd slap the terrain and knock you prone. so i think, not all monsters. but monsters of a certain Star value or higher (perhaps 4 star and above) will roar at you if they see you try to sharpen on seikret, this roar CC's you and seikret stopping your actions dead in their tracks. this is then bypassable by earplugs. once again maintaining the consistancy of deco's allowing people to bypass in game mechanics.

      First making a game fun should be #1 monster hunter isnt a competitive game. skill is subjective and if someone want to play on EZ mode let them. only when the Dev push for more Harder content is when they should add counter measures for such things.     I just finished Sunbreak. Booted up MH4U on Citra with multiplayer. Having far more of a blast with 4U than I ever had with rise/sunbreak. Sure, combat in Sunbreak feels nice, but since you can use potions and whetstones for free on palamute, ZERO CONSEQUENCES, flat out gameplay as hell, the only way they can ramp up difficulty now is by making monsters hit harder, to the point where they need to 1-shot you to pose any threat, because if you survive the hit, it's palamute time, heal up for free. Basically they flattened out the expierience. Zero depth now, because now the sliders for difficulty are gone. They are now a switch. You are allowed NO mistakes because the only way they can ramp up the difficulty, is to make monster 1shot you, where as in the older games there was as slider. Wind blows on monster movement mattered, tremors mattered, stun mattered, statuses mattered, you had all these smaller features that allowed them to make monsters more unique in how you approached them. Now In Sunbreak i have armor set with every possible skill on it, negating EVERYTHING a monster can do, except damage (not that these other things matter too much in sunbreak to begin with). In 4U if I'm trying to kill a Rathian, I actually am constantly stomped simply her rotating around and bumping me to my butt, dealing damage. She jumps a little bit? Boom, blow of wind pushes me back and I can't just mindlessly whack on her like in Rise. Ooops, that wind small stun actually set me up to be poisoned by her another attack, better heal that posion off or i might die. No such problems to consider in rise. Just whack whack whack. Zero consequences. Worst case scenario, i hold "A" for 1 second and im free to heal. Not to mention, if I am really terrible and run out of healing options by spamming my palamute - no worries, I can just instantly drop back at camp, restock, use quick travel and I am good to go. The only consequence was 2 min on the timer, which doesn't matter, because that thing is gonna fall in first 10 min of the hunt anyway. Modern monster hunter really sux. Should be called Monster Fighter. And don't even get me started on multiple monster quests. In 4U if another monster pops in the zone im fighting it was a thrill. A problem to solve. Now everyone is happy, claps their hands and it's like "yay! Another monster! Please beat the game for me Mr. Zinogre!"

      In all Honesty there were no consequences in older games too for healing and sharpening you could walk to the next zone do everything and come back. There was Zero things the Monster can do to prevent that. Now you can do that mid combat on a palamute or seikret, while there is a very small chance to get hit while drinking amd sharpening on a palamute its more than before. I mean in the older games you could heal and sharpen during the fight without leaving the area but for most Monsters not every attack gave you a big enough opening to do that and instead of waiting for that specific attack to heal or sharpen you could just leave the area and come back.

    I feel like this is more a "what I want to see in Wilds" and not an actual prediction. The justification for choices is very weak considering you didn't want most monsters that had the 'spotlight' in the 5th gen to return, but still wanted some of the monsters that appeared in World/ Rise to return, including Teostra and Kushala who, I think, desperately need to retire. I doubt Final boss monsters will return outside of title updates, but claiming Vaal can't return due to its tie with the effluvium is a weak argument considering the Magalas returned in Sunbreak without a focus their core mechanic. You dislike a lot of monsters just for the sake of disliking them (because they're new?). If this was to be interpereted as a fun little "who I want in Wilds with no reasoning" I do apologise, but the title is very misleading.

The moment I said "I think" already enters the line of opinion there for this prediction list was very opinionated like another list. Furthermore, I don't see why there's an issue to want my favorite monsters in wilds like Gammoth, Giganox, All the Deviants, seltus Queen and more. I Think (Once again Opinion) they have a good chance of being in wilds. I also believe (Remember Opinion) that most of wild's roster will be New Created Monsters Like World.       Vaal Hazak is quite legit unable to return to any future game without the Rotten Vale. He is so intertwined with the Vale that him retuning without the Vale would be very odd. Black Veil has potential but even then it’s unlikely

      @@TheGreatCraigWyvern Unlikely, but not unable. The Vale only provided the perfect conditions for Vaal because it provided the perfect conditions with its symbiote: the effluvium. We've seen with Blackveil that both Vaal and the effluvium can exist outside the Vale. Its important to remember that Elders have just as much of an effect on the environment as the environment has on them; Vaal could potentially make anywhere with a large biomass accumulation its home, as we've seen with the Vale and Ancient Forest, whos to say it couldn't make another jungle or cave system its home?

    I will argue that first, sharpening was easier in older game because by just changing zone you were 100% safe, and second the cooldown will naturally deter some people to not use seikret (calling it+sharpen+getting off).

    We might see a few caming back like the classics, but overall i think wild is a new engine which just leave space for new monst howver i can see a lot and i mean a looot of re skin skeletons of older monster mix with a few new animations which imo is not something i am intrested in

      Yes reskins are just lame except deviants. I also see them not adding much other then the basics like rathalos, rathian and basic elders like Teo and Kushala to the game. I truly believe that MOST of Wilds Roster will be New Created ones

    So, the thing with Apexes is that in order to exist they need to survive to Ibushi's siege, and I don't think ibushi is going to be in the game since it was made for Rise along with Narwa. Deviants seems plausible, I'm very with you in that bro, because lorewise Deviants are monster that survived a hunt and became "experienced" and kinda evolved, very so that they even can evade been located by research teams, so yeah, please deviants come back. Both special monsters until now (Afflicted and Tempered/Arch) they were very fun, and the most possible thing is that we will have some kind of this mechanic again instead of deviants (but hope never dies) For me, the 3 monkes are back (Congalala, Blangonga and Rajang) with respective variants (Emerald, Copper and Furious) and maybe new ones. Agnaktor is coming back for me, sieges in sand boat are coming back. Scarlet forest seems a good place for Nerscylla and Tidal Najarala, and Desert for Shrouded Nerscylla. Khezu and Gigginox I think they no coming back. Seltas Queen is coming back, I can sense her. My headcanon is that we having more new monsters than old monsters included. My fear is that because of Espinas, frontier and the other game's monsters could be included, and I hate that because I believe most of them are very trashy designed. Interesting Tier list, now we wait until Wilds comes out

But instead Scorned Magnamalo is searching for stronger opponents to fight so migrated to the forbidden lands. Imo the scarlet forest is the perfect place for him

    This list isn't really good. This is basically "no New World monsters". Your point for Hazak and Namielle could also be made for Teostra and Kushala, yet they're in every single game since their introduction

      I havent watched the video yet, but Hazak physically cant return. He requires the Vale to function. Him returning would be like putting Ceadeus on land or the Mohrans in the water. It would be ridiculous and break the entire point of the monster Kushala, Namielle and Teostra dont suffer this same issue though. Water dragon, fire dragon and wind dragon are innately more flexible concepts than "zombie dragon that can only exist with a microbacteria helping it feed"
