TRIUMPH DAYTONA 660: Versatile Sport Tourer
Medium-displacement sports cars have carved out an important slice of the market for themselves, thanks to attractive purchase prices, the charm that the fairings manage to convey, the ease of driving, with brilliant but not demanding performance.
The Triumph Daytona 660 best interprets these concepts, starting from a valid base, that of its sister Trident, but reinterpreting and evolving it in a sporting key.
The Daytona shares the engine with both the Trident and the Tiger Sport 660, in this case however, the engine has been revised to guarantee performance at the top of the category.
The crankshaft is new, as are the cylinder head and the piston with a high-slip coating, the throttle bodies have been enlarged (there are three, 44mm each) and the airbox has increased in volume.
The cooling system and exhaust also change, with an even more engaging sound.
The power of the three-cylinder Daytona 660 reaches 95 HP at 11,250 rpm, while the torque increases up to 69 Nm at 8,250 rpm against the 81 HP and 64 Nm of the Trident and Tiger Sport. Overall a 17% increase in power and 9% in maximum torque. The 69 Nm of the three-cylinder arrive quickly, indeed, very soon. 80% of the torque is already available from 3,125 rpm.
The six-speed gearbox is equipped with an anti-slipper clutch and to meet A2 licensing requirements, a depowering kit is available which limits power to 35 kW, complete with a dedicated throttle control and specific engine tuning.
Thanks to the ride-by-wire system, the bike offers three different engine mapping modes (Sport, Road and Rain).
All the various functions can be selected via the color LCD/TFT dashboard, which is compatible with the My Triumph connectivity system. One of the new electronic features is the emergency deceleration warning system, which activates the rear emergency lights to warn other road users in the event of sudden braking ("panic stop").
There are numerous accessories with which the Daytona 660 can be customized, in a sporty or grand touring style.
They range from bags (saddle - tank), to the single-seater tail, from heated grips, to the GPS anti-theft device.
An interesting saddle is available in two versions, Comfort or lowered (from 810 to 785 mm), while a depowering kit is available for riding with an A2 licence, which can be uninstalled once the A has been obtained.
The perimeter structure frame is made of steel, with a double-sided swingarm of the same material, with a wheelbase of 1425.6 mm, a steering head rake of 23.8° and a trail of 82.3 mm.
The fork is a Showa upside-down SFF-BP, with a diameter of 41 mm and a travel of 110 mm, without the possibility of adjustment. Behind the Showa RSU monoshock with 130mm of travel it offers preload adjustment and guarantees optimal performance in all road contexts.
Four-piston radial calipers bite two 310mm discs at the front, while at the rear we find a single disc with a single-piston floating caliper.
Equipped as standard on the two 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with five spokes we now find a set of Michelin Power 6.

No manual, booooooooo
what Im waiting for. When will it go on sale in the UK?
Imagine dropping this bike and having to pick it up?
Its 40kg lighter than my Triumph Trophy 1215 Se which I have lifted on my own plenty of times. This bike will be easier to lift as the GS bikes do not lie flat when over because of the twin cylinders sticking out.
@@Paul-TrophySE that’s but I meant picking the bike up with all the luggage etc
@@habibi750 Still doable. I dropped my fully loaded Trophy up in the Swiss Alps twice and lifted it up. You use your legs with your back to the bike, not your arms. All about the technique
I´ve bought a 992.2 in gentian blue, I am excited. Nice video, good information.
I can't understand why that bike exists and why BMW still hasn't fired the designer in the video😂
The base Carrera appears as the best car. Also with the GTS turbos, a stage 1 ECU reprogram will get you to 550hp easily
All the toolbars is that because the first year bmw gs’s Will break down?
Very precise on insertion....this guy rocks
Emiliano, you are a top notch ambassador for Porsche 👍 But I do prefer to listen to you in Italian 😅
Beautiful bike i love it ❤

Is a manual shift also provided?
Boring
this is so sad . . . millions of m & km on BMW .... more of nothing anyone wanted and it's ugly ... unlike a Rhino it's not special
Just ordered the VZ3 333hp - they told me it won't arrive until September but definitely worth the wait! :-)
I can’t believe it’s enough. I drive often in the Alps and for high speed driving you need minimum the GTS. this year is was a Turbo S, thats make fun. In the flat country it will be enough.
gorgeous
Specced in the netherlands at 260.000 euro's.... insane for a base car.
Sorry, that nonsense. the price in Switzerland is about 140’000 euro.
Netherlands its 186.900 without options... 250+ when specced out. I spec porsche's everyday. I know! The taxxes in netherlands are absurd
@@RoemaatPiet we have 8 % Taxes. Germany 19 % and is still cheaper than in Switzerland. But if you check the prices in the USA it’s about 35% cheaper than in Europe. As well the rent prices from Porsche DRIVE. We pay in Zuerich CHF 4500 for a Week (Carrera 4S), in the USA you pay the same for a month’s. So we are quite pressed out…..
That’s crazy, it’s 120k based in the US but for the most basic spec it’s more around 130k, 260k euros is not worth it at that point
why are you yelling at the camera?
Prefer the Base Carrera towards the hybrid vehicle…👍
Same here base with hybrid
Im 6ft 4in, I like its big, suits bigger riders,thats a cool bike👍💯
@@brianeaston3748 I'm 6’5'' and it fitted me well and even standing on the pegs with standard height bars was ok.

Nine hundred and eleven??? What the???
Its a brand new design so wait a few years.
Not too big. Too ugly. I’m keeping my 2020 1250 GSA .
It looks very adventurous because you don’t star at it, but jump on and ride.
Cunning. Hiding the ugliest part of the new GSA with an accessory bag and tyres 👍👍👍
It's great, tried it in Garmisch and it looks great in the flesh. A lot of thought has gone into it being a real long distance touring bike for carrying a lot of gear rather than a weekend warrior posures "look at me" bike.
@@vacoasrebel6729 I might fit into the second category 😁 Looks like a great bike, I'll keep my 1250 GSA in the meantime but looking forward to seeing it in the showroom
It was always too big.. Now it is also too ugly 😵💫
Beautiful?? Really?? No wonder he is no more a bike designer as he must have designed a lot of ugly bikes!! Well, i guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!!....who is this so-called bike designer again?? Oh, never mind....
It's a cracker order in
Ugly design
star wars design..
BMW is loosing it in the design, the appearance of that bike is getting worse right from the release of the first r1300GS. Looking at it from the front, t just looks like a box.
It’s perfect!!!!
Great practical design
Design by LEGO ? 🤣

Thanks!!!!!!!!
Really informative video and thank you for audio translation.
What do you believe is a good touring spped? 110kmh or below it?
In our opinion, 120 KM/H is the ideal speed. But you can go at 130 km/h without problems. Also because at 130 km/h if you accelerate to overtake the engine still pushes well. Maximum speed recorded by us 170 km/h indicated on the display. Then due to the offroad tires the front end swayed too much and we closed the throttle.
04:05 the body colour is not unreleased. They used the color already in the previous Formentor VZ5 Last Edition Version. Only 222 are produced for sale.
13:08 Name of the color? Enceladus Grey Matt🤔🤔
Hi @snkcorp.502, the color should be Petrol Blue Matt
@@AM_Network no. petrol matt blue is gone for the Facelift.....

Absolutely outstanding video while covering important parameters of this new machine..the best review I have seen to date! I have pre-ordered this bike in the US and very much looking forward to off road adventure while still having reasonable on road capability. I think at 6'1" I will need the tall seat option , perhaps a taller windscreen to avoid buffering at helmet height, stouter skid plate (I have hit some rocks in the past) and I need crash bars for the eventual dirt naps. Some reviews have complained about snatchy/overly abrupt low speed throttle input...can you please comment on your experience with this? And any other modifications you would recommend? Again, very well done video..fun to watch and explore Sardinia with you guys. Definitely signed up to your channel.
Hi @normananderson2583, thanks! We are happy that you liked our review and the wonderful Sardinia. Emilio, our journalist and CFMoto reviewer in this video, is aware of your questions and will try to answer you as soon as he can. In the meantime, stay tuned for more Auto e Moto videos!
hi @normananderson2583. Thank you for the kind words you reserved for us. As regards the on-off of the accelerator, I'll answer you like this. Many talked about this problem, especially during the press presentation of the bike. During the test in Sardinia we NEVER encountered this problem. I was very doubtful because I didn't understand why if everyone had talked about it I didn't find it. So I called whoever prepared the bike for me and asked him to tell me the truth about it: "have you modified anything on the bike?". The answer was "no". I can tell you that I trust this person a lot so I have no doubts about it. Then I got an idea of why I didn't feel this on-off and others did. My riding style and different routes. I tend to keep the bike in a higher gear and therefore lower revs. This combined with smoother and less bumpy routes on the road made it all happen. In the Philippines where they tested the motorcycle, the asphalt roads were obscene. In Sardinia they are wonderful. The engine does not need to be pulled despite the low performance and small displacement. So I, riding with more undertorque, felt a bike that NEVER had an annoying on-off. Also because I'm surprised by those who say that if you open and close the accelerator you have an on-off... it seems logical to me. Open + close = on + off. Thanks again. keep following us!
Many change the front sprocket to +1 tooth.
I insist on a shaft drive bike for the occasional off pavement and long distance riding. Below 20k in price, is there a better choice?
What a weird translations in the overdubbed audio 😢
