If you have seen any of my other videos, I've been buying bits and bobs mainly for home use. Got the chance to put them all together for a family party today, here is a short 30 second clip of the results. In this video the system has been level matched, so the subs have some negative gain set by the dbx rack automatically. The dbx rack has done the EQ settings using the mic and sounds fantastic. I've tweaked the cross over and removed everything below 40hz. The amps on the subs and mackie are running flat BTW, the dbx does everything. It sounds just as good at 70db as up around 110db Mark. I live in Austin and stumbled across the flagship Brane store on Congress. Listened to a side-by-side comparision between the Brane, Sonos, and a few others. Brane blew them all away, and it wasn't even close. I can't justify $600 ATM for one right now (my house is full of Sonos speakers and I already have a portable bluetooth Bose), but the next time I'm looking to spoil myself, this is at the top of my list. Simply WOW.

    • @mark-bellamy
      @mark-bellamy 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@kingkobra1956 hey, have you managed to test this? They say 12 hours at reasonable volume... Which I can only assume would be roughly 30% I have not tested this, but have had the device in the office playing between 30% and 50% and it was almost at 50% battery life after around 4 to 5 hours.

    • @mark-bellamy
      @mark-bellamy 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I also guess it depends on how you want to use it. I keep it plugged in when I'm at home, that way it's always on and always charged. I can then grab it and take it to the park or too the pool where I spent maybe 3 hours at most, so it actually works pefect for this scenario :) In the UK, I do music for events and I use the SoundBok, they can fill a large area for 15+ hours and the batteries are swappble but the thing is massive. Dual 10" speakers. Thinking about it, Bass pulls a lot of power. I have it set to medium / high in the EQ. This will massively impact the battery life. Turning this down a bit will probs get you upto the stated 12 hours easily. But then you do lose the products main focus. Hope any of this helps :)

    • @mark-bellamy
      @mark-bellamy 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@kingkobra1956 even more digging on this subject.... The device has "6 standard 3400mAh Lithium-Ion Batteries" I'm going to guess they are wired in parallel to create a 2 cell battery, so slightly higher voltage but half the capacity. So 8.4V with 10200mAh. Or 3 cell.... 12.8V at 5100mAh. That gives us at nominal voltage (11.1) roughly 52W hours. 52W / 12 hours = 4.3Watts. Now as Watts are not linear per output, I would say around 30% volume seems about right here. This is all just a quick research, hopefully someone can provide more accurate info :) again, hope any of this helps in some way haha Main thing is, enjoy 🎶

    @mark-bellamy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When placing the speaker I used the AutoEQ feature. The bass is incredible for its size. Now after changing the placement, the bass was reduced (as it was not corner loaded in the new position) so I moved it back. I found from my experience I had to move the speaker back and fourth to get the exact sweet spot to get the bass to resonate into the room again. I had to increase the bass to +4 to get the same affect again as in the video above. So for anyone using these and having issues with Bass, play around with the position. If you can corner load them, have them 2 to 4 inches from the walls. They sound superb no matter where they are placed but to really engerise a room, speaker placement is key so have a play around :) Let me know how you find yours!

And using virtual DJ, I was able to use my microphone as well (With some delay of course) but worked fine. So I have kept them for this reason! A sub makes all the difference though. I have yamaha DZR12's and they have lots of bass, but start to party levels and they bottom out. So I eq them and remove all bass from 100hz down and add 2 x 12" subs dxs12mk2. I use a pair of DZR12's now rather than the mackie speakers. There design and wooden cabinet give them lots of advantages over the mackies. They also have great low end but! They can't be pushed loud with the low end enabled. So I cross them over at 80hz with the dxs12 subs allowing for better head room when turned up. For loud discos, the subs are a must for me otherwise I have to dial back the bass too much on the tops and I loose the fullness of the sound. From reviews the DXR speakers are also very good! They have a different tone to the dzr series but that comes down to musical preference :)

    howzit i'm in South Africa and its difficult to DEMO speakers . I need standalone 15's that have a lot of bass. with your experience of the DZR do u believe they are anything close to the 139db stated on the specs? would theDZR15 do the job ? are they better than RCF HDM45 ?

    • @bellamym62
      @bellamym62 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Halalisa, from my experience, no speaker on its own is ever going to produce music at 139db. The horn has the potential to go to very high spl but that would require using eq to remove all the bass and mids. These speakers play at around 110db with a nice bass to them, but getting to higher volumes I use EQ to remove some bass from the tops and use subs under them. Again the yamaha dxs12 mkii subs say they will do 134db, but they would be in a very specific sweet spot playing only a specific tone. Depending on your requirements, generally a few speakers are required and good placement of the speakers. I like my sound to be super clear and full and using my DZR12 and DXS12 subs, I average around 110db just in front of them while maintaining a great sound and not causing anyone permanent hearing loss. RCF HDM45..never heard them so would be unable to comment, but the Yamaha has such a nice voicing, 80s music sounds perfect through them and vocals are super clean. They also have a reduced high output, but that makes them super easy on the ears unlike some speakers that cause ear ache after half an hour. Anymore info, please let me know. Cheers Mark

      @@halalisasibisi44 I've only heard the RCF Art745 speaker against the DZR and the DZR sounded loads cleaner for me. I've not heard the newer RCF. The VTX range allow for a flown array and am sure they will get a lot louder than your normal pro consumer speakers like Yamaha. As a stand alone system, the DZR series was great for a small room in a pub. But I've always used subs to get the extra punch. Sorry I can't help any further, but hopfully someone will have more experience with all these speakers. Each speaker will have its own sound and depends on your hearing and taste :) For me, you can't beat the sound of the DZR range!

    If you set the DSP setting on the back of the speak to FOH (Front Of House) then it changes the sound again and they sound very punchy!! But turned up, I can easily get them to limit in this mode and you can physically hear them hitting there limits. I have found setting the dsp to normal and using a low cut at 80hz and then adding 2 dxs12 subs under the speaker sounds really nice.
