May 10th 2024 Aurora from Kansas
It’s rare to be able to capture the northern lights from Kansas. I did some Timelapses last night and was amazed at what the camera could pick up that I couldn’t see.
Timelapses are a mix of Nikon Z30 with a Viltrox 13mm 1.4 a Nikon Z5 with Tamron 15-30 2.8, and DJI Osmo Action 4K which I left out overnight to get the last, longer clip.

Special Olympics Kansas Cornhole Tournament

Great Event to be at, it is always good to spend some time watching special olympic athletes compete. And who doesn't love Cornhole? Video was shot on my Nikon Z30 and Z5, the time-lapse was a DJO Osmo Action. Very happy with how the Z30 did today.

Z5 Dynamic Range - Is one RAW file = HDR?

I bought Ulanzi's new i-Light the day they announced it (not entirely on purpose) and compared it to Godox's TL-30.

    I use the R2 pro on my Z5 also. I have just had connectivity issues with mine also. Messed around with it and found out you need to clean your hotshoe and trigger connections. I used alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it all, placed my trigger back on and everything powered right up. Shouldn't have to do this but it worked. Hope this helps.

    I also just picked up that same trigger for my Z6II. I'll let you know if I have the same issue. (I have the new version that just came out (Godox XPro II N) on pre-order) Also bought a couple of AD200pros, some umbrellas, S2 mounts, stands, a Godox TT350 and a reciever for my Nikon Sb600. Went all out lol. Shooting a friends band this weekend on a stage (not a live performance), just posed. Thinking of using 2 Ad200's w/ umbrellas on either side of the 4 piece band and maybe one of the speedlights behind for a hairlight. All new to me, so gonna be trial and error. Any tips for this kind of a setup? PS. Also subscribed.

      I think you are on the right track! I would get some with even lighting then start moving lights around to focus on each band member or to get some more dramatic lighting too (depending on the band's style of course). Thanks for the sub!

  • @navydave1
    @navydave1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is that the S1 or S2 Godox mount? On the S2 you are supose to be able to mount the V1 (roundhead) speedlight by taking out the spacers at the bottom. Thats the claim anyways. lol

    • @Hunter.Peterson
      @Hunter.Peterson ปีที่แล้ว

      They are cheap mounts I got off Amazon before I got all the Godox stuff. I know one of them is Neewer brand, can't remember what the other one was but they are slightly different sizes. I'll have to check that out, if they make one the V1 fits it that would probably be worth it.

    Hi I started photography with Z5 then I moved to D500 and D850 before migrating to Sony A7iv. The advantage of the Sony is the tracking. But since I'm taking wildlife, the truth is there is no single camera that did everything good: For Z5 its low light af is poor due to tele lens are not fast. For D500 it's the best af for perched birds but when a bird flies its keeper is only 20-40% depending on conditions. For D850, it's about the same as D500 but is lower in keepers in both perched shots and flights. Lastly the Sony is super in birds in flights and get it very fast. But the perch shots is terrible! Many times the camera doesn't find focus and just freeze in an unfocused position when its confused. So I can tell u eye af is not so good and I dun expect it too much at all.

I have no trouble with AF-S, but in AF-C mode, the focusing seems to shift around quite a bit. This results in really poor performance when I hold the shutter down for continous shots while tracking a focus subject (using back button AF or shutter button.. not too relevant).

    I use it with my old AF-S lenses and Leica manual lenses which are all pro level fast glass and the main attraction is the full frame sensor and ability to strap virtually every lens known to man on it and get great results. My autofocus body is my A7iii with Sony Zeiss glass and the Z5 is a Leica body for me at a fraction of the cost of an M body. Leica glass with Nikon colors is a unique and satisfying combination, I don't care about video on a entry level camera and leave that to my A7iii when needed. People are expecting $1000 dollar cameras to be as robust and feature rich as $5000 pro cameras on TH-cam which is ridiculous lol.
