Capt Crow's 1 year Review of SeaDek Marine Flooring. Was the investment worth it?
In this short video I review the 1st year anniversary of our SeaDek marine flooring on our fishing vessel. We landed a lot of fish which "hit the deck" and there general wear and tear of just fishing.
I review the end of season appearance before a cleaning and I review the appearance after two rounds of scrub and cleaning using a new Canadian product available for EVA marine flooring surfaces.
The question is is it worth it? Check out the video for the Capt Crow's opinion.
Dek Clean is a product made in Montreal Canada by CMD Marine Products which I am NOT sure if you can buy direct from them but I do know you can purchase at marine dealers like I did @ Don Hyde Marine. When in doubt, reach out to CMD @ conceptmarinedesign.com/en/
The US comparable version is SeaDek Magic
Check out my SeaDek Install video to watch how the flooring was installed on our vessel @ th-cam.com/video/UBbzP9Dsbns/w-d-xo.html

    Horrible trash company. I had Seadek on my new boat. After a year it started to peel up. I contacted SeaDek and they said it was installed incorrectly. It was installed on a new boat at the manufacturer. They refused to do anything....trash product.

      I am sorry to hear your experience with Seadek. As I fished on our boat today, I couldn't help but think of how different experiences we each have. Our floor still looks great and I am happy that |I had a certified installer do our boat... and actually videoed it. I summarized my thoughts similar to vehicles. I am a happy ford f150 owner and have had very few issues, just bought a new Bronco. Where others have had a terrible experience with ford and would never own another Ford. I hope you have moved on and are enjoying that new boat! Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment, much appreciated Stay safe on the water

      Thanks for watching the video and commenting. Sorry to hear about your swim platform deteriorating; that shouldn't happen. Oddly our platform was the only part with the only decking when we purchased the boat new. It was fitted with Ultra Deck from British Columbia, so ours is on its 5th yr. They had a pattern for our boat but no installer in my area so we chose SeaDek because we had a local installer. So far so good. I hope they make it right for you. Stay safe 👍

    Do you have an example or template for a fish log book? Thanks

    • @captcrow
      @captcrow 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello @James-jn4xz, thank you for the question. In the video, the log book I use is just a basic 8"x5-1/2" blank note book. I looked for a fishing specific log book and my son actually bought one for me when we first started, however there are so many columns that I needed for all the specifics, there isn't a log book available for my needs. What I have found is that it's practical for me to write down as much info as I can about the trip, weather, and catches etc, then transfer all the info from the log book into an excel spreadsheet that I created on the computer. The spreadsheet is dynamic and it can easily be modified if I need to add a new item/column. The log book then goes back out with me every time we fish and is available for reference as well as new entries. You tube doesn't allow me to add photos or links to these replies...so I will see if I can put together a video of my computer screen showing my excel spreadsheet and go over all the columns or items we are logging. I can also add my email address to the video for those whom may want the excel file of my data log. I would be happy to share it. Thank you for watching the video and commenting, I appreciate the question. That was a really good question with my complicated answer lol. Just starting writing down everything you think will help you on future trips. That is a good start. What, Where, When and How

    • @captcrow
      @captcrow 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the question. I am going to presume you're talking about what you see on the Panoptics. I believe what you see is skewed a bit, over exaggerated because our ps31 transducer is tilted a bit fwd. I also think the angle setting in the down view screen may exaggerate it as well, each user will have a different value entered. We are pulling 16# weights and I can see the angle change when I fluctuate the trolling speed, as to be expected, but it's not as bad as it looks on screen. I will make a point to adjust the angle setting when we get out again to see if I can validate what I think. You gotta trust me though, I can tell by the rigger cable when we are blowing back hard; currents and trolling speed are real time factors. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching. I like it when viewers pick out details.

      Hey thanks for watching and for the comments. You are very observant and didn't miss a thing lol. I appreciate it and it makes the post editing work worth it. Yes we do have the Reactor 40 and it is awesome. Lol yes, the marriage saver indeed. We have it on our Evinrude which is not compatible with the reactor 40, so we have steering but no throttle control. Bummer because I had it on a previous Suzuki kicker, so I miss that feature. I had a local machinist make me up 24 small bushings for the connecting arm ends, that is what has been wearing over the past seasons. We are good for at least the next 12 years now. We release the majority of our fish and keep what we need to eat and any that won't revive. Can't keep em all! We drag them along and make sure they are ready to go before releasing. Seems like the right thing to do. btw, I love Michigan. I use to travel for work to several locations from River Rouge to East Tawas. Great people Thanks for subscribing!

    Hello Cap'n Crow, Any link to the Ol' Crow 2.0 name to the whiskey or the famous WW2 fighter ace pilot Bud Anderson's P 51? Great video. Thanks

      Hey Scott, thanks for the question. The history of the name is that my father's boat never had a name, his nick name was Crow. When I inherited that boat I gave it the name 'ol Crow out of respect to my father. We then sold that boat in 2020 and bought a new boat together with my son. Since it was an upgrade to what we had, we decided to call it 'ol Crow 2.0, for version 2. No link to whiskey or Bud Anderson's P51. Our surname is Crozier, everyone calls us Crow for short; my father, me, my son and I am sure my Grandson will get it too. Thanks for watching, asking questions, and providing tips!

    Can you name and explain the releases that you are holding the fish on so that they can recoup. I love it and want to do the same.

      Hello Mike, you asked a great question! Thank you. It required me to pause my response until I double checked at the boat this morning. We have two brands; 1: The Fish Grip made in USA, they have a website and 2: Rapala Floating Fish Gripper as seen on Amazon. Both are fine but we have had a few fish release by themselves with the Rapala brand. On that note, I seen today that Bass Pro/Cabela's has Bass Pro Shops® Lunker Lock Gripper. It has a lock feature. I think I might try that gripper for when we are bleeding out a keeper. No worries of it floating off without us noticing. One other tip for you. We attached a nylon rope to each grip to get em away from the boat along with a d ring to snap to the boat. I can't tell you how many times we have been dragging a fish and bringing in a line and the treble goes into the nylon rope. You're pretty much screwed and have to cut the barb off the treble, takes you out of the action while you switch spoons. Today we switch one rope out for a cable to try. It will eliminate our grief. We drag at the back of the boat but if you were dragging on the side it may not be as much of a problem. Nylon ropes and hooks are not friends. I hope this info is helpful and I would love for you to try and recoup these bad boys. As I say, respect to the King! Thanks for watching!

      Hi Mike, I've used Fish Grips and have found that if you're not careful the lower jaw on the salmon can split at the tip and the fish will come out of the still closed Fish Grips. The larger the fish, the more this is an issue. I love Fish Grips. Just be careful where you grip the fish. For fish we are keeping we use a great big carabiner from Harbor Freight. We carefully insert it through the mouth and out under the gills. We have the carabiner on a rope hanging in the water to bleed out the fish. The carabiner is also a good handle for handling the fish. The giant carabiners are not expensive, so we have several on the boat. Good luck!

      @captcrow ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking of using the carabiner too for bleed outs as well; I haven't been able to source one yet (in Canada). Good tip Scott

      The carabiners I have are 8-inch from Harbor Freight. They have a rubber grip on them that I remove.@@captcrow

      Glad it helped, we switched to wire divers this season and although we have less fleas than braid, we still needed to use the rag trick. I use the insta360 one inch camera. I wouldn't advise a 360 camera unless you are proficient at post editing. There is a lot of work put into getting the shot you want and exported to use in another video editor (premiere Pro). Thanks for watching and leaving a comment/question. I appreciate it

      Thanks for the feedback Scott. I can see where one might get the impression we are serious as hell when we are fishing, but it's hard to get the whole picture when I edit a 7 hour trip into 20 minutes, not to mention we weren’t wearing any mics to pickup our grunts and groans. I won't lie though, “Fish On” means game on, especially when we were hunting for the $100k King in the SSC derby. Everyone responds differently in game time situations. We do have a good time despite I game faces. Your feedback is appreciated and will be something we will consider.

    I have the same Ranger net. No holes in mine yet but I agree with hooks easily getting tangles in it. Also the frame (the extension) of mine has bent several times. I’ve been able to bend it back each time but it’s not near as smooth as it was when I first bought it. With my experience and after watching your video, it will be the last Ranger net I buy.

    • @captcrow
      @captcrow ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing Mike! I wouldn't have believed that octagon handle could bend so I appreciate your feedback. I am glad it's just not my opinion on the tangled hooks. My anger/disappointment was slowly building with each instance. If you find a landing net that surpasses your previous experiences and you're very please with, please share with me. Thanks for watching and sharing your comments!

      I'm sorry to hear that, Scott. Like I said in the video, I love the Ranger handle design vs. the standard aluminum tube. I am going to have to buy a new Beckman handle for my other net, I hope I have better luck. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment. I appreciate it

    Your other net this has not happened to but it has happened to this Ranger net.....Rodents must really love the Ranger net material over your other net. Thanks for the information, so now I know if I were to ever buy a Ranger net I better go find a better basket net to use within the frame. Another prime example of a company not standing behind the customer and as you said $25 dollars their cost could easily resolve the issue. Best of luck.

      Thanks for the comment. They just blew me away with their answer. I have never seen mice, rodents on my boat while moored at the marina. I couldn't swallow the answer and response. The trebles getting wrapped up in the netting was beginning to cast doubts on my purchase.... I didn't know it was the beginning of the end for that net. What are you using and do you have a recommendation on your favorite landing net? Thanks

      Thanks for the comment. We try our best not to handle the shakers but every now and then one will inhale take all three hooks in the mouth. Amazes me how they can open their little mouth to take the entire treble hook, Those fish get handled differently and that's not by choice. Thanks for watching!
