My number 74 episode. The several characters played by the same people was confusing. Marilyn (Collin Wilcox) was wonderful, but the end was a downer--too often the case in the fifth season. Also, why were numbers skipped? I get the premise, but this episode just didn't impress me 😮

What movie or show is this at 9:52 especially the dummy on the far right? Continue below .... “The Dummy” episode from The Twilight Zone is a captivating tale that combines eerie elements with impressive craftsmanship. Let’s delve into the specifics: Stage Sets and Lighting: The episode’s stage sets create an intimate, dark atmosphere, fitting for the mysterious events unfolding. The small club in New York City, where ventriloquist Jerry Etherson performs, adds to the sense of confinement and tension. Lighting plays a crucial role. Shadows cast by the ventriloquist dummy, Willy, enhance the eerie vibe. The interplay of light and darkness underscores the psychological struggle between Jerry and his alter ego. Superb job abd makes you feel you ARE REALLY there! Vlack and White does it for sure not color. Sound Design and Voices: The sound design heightens suspense. Listen closely to the whispers of Willy’s voice-faint yet haunting-as Jerry grapples with his delusions. Cliff Robertson’s voice acting for both Jerry and Willy adds depth. His portrayal of Willy’s sinister tone and Jerry’s desperation contributes to the episode’s impact. Chorus Girls: The chorus girls Edy Williams and others, glimpsed briefly, add to the nightclub ambiance. Their presence contrasts with the eerie events, emphasizing the normalcy disrupted by Willy’s malevolence. In summary, “The Dummy” masterfully weaves together stagecraft, lighting, sound, and performances to create a memorable Twilight Zone experience

Most dystopia tales have an ugliness or dirtiness of 1984 or the Obsolete Man. What makes Beaumont's story great is it flips that. The State wants beauty and perfection to evade jealosy, avarice or a drive to make your own way. The State still needs workers, but compliant ones.

Actually a technology advanced enough to give you a complete overhaul would easily give you the ability to individualize it. For example if you're 55 like me and you could afford a complete overhaul, renewing all joints, cardiovascular systems, lungs organs muscles, regain the ability to work full tilt, run and lift and play, sexual ability of a man in his twenties and keep your facial features, your ability to express yourself as you, you would. You could start new careers, invent things, change races. We already allow sex changes, but you can't really change your race much and racism still determines so many things about you get access to. People are born with missing limbs, malformed faces, etc and they deserve to be able to help themselves to new limbs and faces if they can get it. On top of that most but not all standards of attractiveness are indicators of health and fertility, as you go the gym, get a better diet etc you get more attractive because healthy if sexy If anything our society is filled with fat ignorant gun toting beer swilling idiots who welcome police brutality racism and deny science. This is only a dystopia because the writers artificially remove all of the good points and make it an imposition, not a choice, and assume humans that can develop such awesome technology can't find a way to adjust it, adapt it and make it serve humanity, like they did indoor plumbing, dental hygiene, toilet paper, medicine, tampons, pasteurized milk, antibiotics, sterilized surgical equipment, dishwashers, early detection of breast and testicular cancer, blood pressure medications and crop rotation. The only thing this series does is equate totalitarianism and blind conformity with medical technology. THose evils usually come from religion, Racial supremacists, right wingers who wants empires and of ofcuorse the biggest culprits, theocracies, who dictate how people should look, dress, talk, feel and see others and their selves, on pain of death and torture in this world and eternal torture in the next.

I always liked the episodes that related to time travel such as “walking distance“, “back there” and “the execution.“ I think the least talked about episode is called “an occurrence at owl Creek Bridge“ it contains no dialogue and it was a film from the French Cann film festival. Rod Serling like to use that episode just because.
