Barney Spur - from Collins Gap to Yellow Pinch
มุมมอง 70วันที่ผ่านมา
Following an easy warm-up uphill from Collins Gap along the rabbit fence we realised very quickly what the day had in stock for us. The fence disappeared at an elevation of about 760m and this is when progress slowed down to almost non-existent. Encountering the first bits of wild vegetation and battling through Gympie Gympie, raspberry vines and other plants that seemingly solely exist to get ...
Buchanans Fort & Little Widgee mountain, Lamington National Park
มุมมอง 3114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Buchanan's fort is a prominent outcrop visible when driving into the Christmas Creek Valley. After a very steep and long uphill scramble, we arrived at the top of the plateau and were greeted by amazing views over Southern Lamington, the Barney region, Mount Lindesay, the Kerry & Christmas Creek Valleys and we even caught a glimpse of Brisbane in the distance! Note please: Both Buchanan's fort ...
Widgee Falls Lamington National Park
มุมมอง 3614 วันที่ผ่านมา
Widgee falls is a roughly 100m high, seldom visited waterfall in Southern Lamington. A great creek walk with lots of scrambling and a little bit of Lantana and similar. Note please: Getting there requires permission of the relevant land owners. Disclaimer: As with any of my bushwalking adventures, good fitness and confident remote navigation is essential as there are no tracks, usually no marke...
Mt Barney - Savages Ridge up and Logans Ridge down
มุมมอง 77หลายเดือนก่อน
A special day in Barney National Park. After leaving Yellow Pinch behind we approached Barney's 'true' peak, the West Peak via Savages Ridge. A quick stop for lunch and onwards to East Peak via Rum Jungle and the old hut site. Our descent back to Yellow Pinch was via Logans Ridge. Savages Ridge and Logans Ridge have a few tricky spots and are best approached with a length of climber's tape and ...

Nixon Creek - Lamington National Park
มุมมอง 272 หลายเดือนก่อน
A short off-track adventure in Lamington National Park. Entering Nixon Creek after a brief encounter with the Great Walk track, we passed Bohgaban Falls and exited the creek shortly after to head to the white cliffs below Moonjooroora Lookout. A bit of bush bashing later we enter Moonjooroora Creek, pass several (dry) cascades and a larger fall on our way downstream towards Nixon Creek. audio c...

Crazy Spicers to Teviot - until we get there
มุมมอง 353 หลายเดือนก่อน
The idea was to walk from Spicers to Teviot in a day, but not knowing what nature would throw at us, particularly in terms of vegetation at the start of the bushwalking season (for this type of terrain), our motto was: We just walk until we get there, how hard could it be? Trip summary: 2x snakes 1x handwritten note 1x tent (found abandoned) 2x good water sources 2 smiling faces 1x rock wallaby...

มุมมอง 413 หลายเดือนก่อน
A four day solo off-track exploratory bushwalk from Kerry Road, rockhopping up Albert River North Branch to Rat-a-tat, encountering many amazing waterfalls, walking briefly south along the Border track over Mt Throakban to the start of the ridge towards Mt Widgee. Taking the ridge towards the peak of Mt Widgee and meeting up with Widgee Creek to detour to the stunning Widgee falls. Then, initia...
Scenic Rim Canyons - Abseiling Long Creek Falls & Watson Falls
มุมมอง 343 หลายเดือนก่อน
Having seen Long Creek Falls from up high when I walked the Border track previously, I knew I had to return one day to check it out from the bottom. This canyoning adventure involves abseiling, so it's not just a 'walk in the bush'. audio copyright: Skilsel Disclaimer: As with any of my bushwalking adventures, good fitness and confident remote navigation is essential as there are no tracks, usu...
Scenic Rim Canyons - Abseiling Kinnanes Falls
มุมมอง 573 หลายเดือนก่อน
Kinnanes Falls, an amazing little gem in the Main Range near Teviot. Initially a steep uphill involving majestic views over the countryside, it soons turns into a narrow little canyon which eventually gives way to some quite spectacular drops. Involving abseiling multiple 50 metre drops, this adventure is not achieveable without the right gear. audio copyright by BrentinDavis pixabay.com/users/...

Hey man, how was the bottom section of savages running? Went from savages up west, then across and down bippoh(midgets) ridge then out via lower portals last year. It was pretty thick around the base of savages.

I may not be the right person to ask that question to as I consider anything that you can somehow manage to get through as pretty open :) The footpad is quite defined in most places but it sometimes is a bit hidden by vegetation.

What else would you like to see?? The part where I cartwheeled over two cliff edges?
