Getting High In Colorado. A Single Trip For $2.00 (4K)
Getting High In Colorado takes little effort. Places like Aspen can be expensive to visit and stay, but others like Estes at the base of the Rocky Mountains can require as little as $2.00 to get very high into the mountains.
Hey everyone! Today, we're exploring the breathtaking heights of Colorado, a state well known for its stunning mountain landscapes and literally, breath-taking views. From towering peaks to alpine lakes, Colorado offers a plethora of high-altitude adventures for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. Let's dive into some of the best places to experience the magic of Colorado's mountains.
1. Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is a classic for a reason. Its iconic peaks, alpine lakes, and diverse wildlife make it a must-visit destination. For high-altitude adventures, hike to the summit of Longs Peak, explore the alpine tundra of Bear Lake, join a raft expedition or take a scenic drive along Trail Ridge Road.
2. Aspen
This charming mountain town is a popular destination for both summer and winter activities. In the summer, enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing in the surrounding wilderness. A few people described it to me by stating "The billionairres kicked out the millionaires. In the winter, hit the slopes at Aspen Mountain, Vail, Breckenridge or Winter Park.
3. Estes Park
While not strictly a high-altitude destination, Estes Park offer a unique entrance to the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. These days too many visitions congregae at the ranger's entrance so a reservation is in place for most of the year at a cost of $2.00. During fall there are hundreds who take up the challenge to hike up the towering mountains. Others are content to explore the nearby alpine lakes, or simply relax and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Remember: When visiting Colorado's high-altitude destinations, it's important to be prepared for changing weather conditions, altitude sickness, and wildlife encounters. Pack appropriately, stay hydrated, and respect the natural environment.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your backpack, lace up your hiking boots, dust off your hiking poles and get ready to explore the incredible high-altitude wonders of Colorado. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel for more adventure-filled content!

Gorgeous views, yet the Aussie is right to wonder about safety in some instances. When there are many each year who fall to their deaths, wouldn't it make sense to have more guard rails? Which is more valuable, an unobstructed view of the canyon, or the lives of several people every year? It seems like a "no-brainer." I guess it's an answer waiting to be given at the point when enough people figure it out, and demand it, for greater safety's sake.

Around 900 people have died at the Grand Canyon since the 1800's. About 12 people die at the Grand Canyon every year The leading cause of death in the canyon are helicopter and airplane crashes, deaths from environmental conditions like heat have been on the rise in recent decades.

I was at The Channon for the 20 year anniversary of the Terrania Creek protests. Met so many of Australia's OG environmental heroes, the enlightened and selfless souls who stood up for a truly beautiful patch of subtropical rainforest. Spent a night up by Protesters Falls and that little carpark at the end of the road has become one of my top five favourite road trip camp sites because it reminds me so much of home in Far North Queensland. Well worth a detour if I do one south of the border, now I have a connection to the history of the place. It's a good story to tell, to remind ourselves good people standing together can make a huge difference.

I've been to Nimbin twice in my life. The first time I hadn't even finished parking my car before I had some druggie asshat semi-startle me through the window, desperately trying to sell me drugs before the next dealer got to me. . I swore I'd never go back. But, ten years went by, I was in a new relationship and we went up to Byron for a holiday and whilst we were there she decided she wanted to see Nimbin. I told my new girlfriend what happened the first time, but conceded it was a while ago and that I should give it a chance. So we went. Rocking up to Nimbin the second time I hadn't even finished parking my car before I had some druggie asshat semi-startle me through the window, desperately trying to sell me drugs before the next dealer got to me. Never again.
