VALLA KISTEN - “Your song has ended but the tune lingers on”
This is certainly one of South Africa’s most talented music maestros, a timeless artist and singing sensation Valla Kisten, was born on 12 August 1947 and was called to rest on the 8th May 2022. The popular stage and function showman, continues to enthrall music lovers all over the world with his unique voice. Kisten rose to fame after his popular hit song, ‘Paadugiren’ which was recorded by Luxmi Entertainers, and this song continues to enthrall large audiences across SA for decades.
The eldest son of the Kisten family, MALIN KISTEN, spoke about this gentle and enigmatic giant of the entertainment industry. “Valla Kisten was an eastern music stalwart of Mt Edgecombe and a philanthropist by nature and together with his love for the Tamil language which gave him great satisfaction & enjoyment.
