Just look at the gauge of those strings I don't think people realize just how heavy of a gauge he played with I play with tens and people think that's crazy high I put a set of 11s on a guitar once that I was going to try to learn to play slide on I never really got around to playing slide at that time and literally tried to play it and had to take them off because it was just too much for me this guy's using like 13 and 14
@justicemcdonald2939 yes that’s absolutely true. He used 13s. BB used 14s. Hard to even imagine playing strings that heavy lol. But that’s why Stevie tuned down a half-step.

This is a man copying the style of Hendrix. Imagine the shock everyone got when they saw and heard the original for the first time. The reactions of the likes of Clapton and Beck are well documented.

@RobRocks01 not sure what you mean. Stevie used 13s, which were very heavy and might have reflected the light differently, especially on an old 35 year old video.
@@johnsguitarlounge oh, i figured it out. He was pushing the low E with his thumb so it looked likw there is only five strings for a moment.
Stevie Ray is better than Jimi Hendrix ever was. Jimi was sloppy and sounded horrible live.

@@johnsguitarlounge Sometimes it's hard to imagine but SRV (made it happen) & seemingly took the Hendrix that he did play, to a different place! & truly, did it justice! I'm not hating, but I've never been a fan of what John Mayer is attempting to do with Hendrix tunes. I do dig the trio with Pino & Steve Jordan, but how do you not dig that rhythm section? I could listen to what SRV did with Hendrix, all day! He was anything but a press hound too. He did what he did & he sure did not, disappoint! RIP, SRV!
