I was 27 years old when she died from complications of anorexia. I cried. We lost a wonderful person and a voice that was unique. Sigh. There was a decade or so of her preserved. Listening to her now can tear me up. She should be enjoying her grandchildren at this time. So sad. Thank you guys for appreciating a treasure that was shared with the world for a little while.

Binder, Elvis, et al sat up until about 4 a.m. talking about the turmoil in the world at that time w-Elvis expressing his thoughts & feelings, also the assassination of Pres. Kennedy & Vietnam. Binder asked songwriter Walter Earl Brown to compose a song based on those discussions. The song is notable for its similarities to Martin Luther King’s wish for a world of peace and harmony. The red tie was for the blood shed in Vietnam. Binder, the most upstanding & ethical person in the business did many interviews regarding the special & how the song came to be. Binder also said that once they were away from Parker, Elvis poked Binder in the rib & I'll be damned if i end with a Christmas song. Elvis was so severely nervous that he told Binder he didn't know any of the songs, he forgot all the words & wasn't going out there, & Binder said i don't care if you walk out & just say hello & then walk off, but you are going out. And out he came.
