Oh hell nawh. I love this game since I played for the first time and for the nostalgia I was thinking about platting it but after watching this video, nahhh. I better play it on a secondary account.

Made me wonder though, ever since this year's Halloween, I've been playing Clock Tower Rewind on Switch a lot of times until I got all the endings. I didn't want to play it on the Super Famicom, because I was too afraid of playing it. But after I purchased the game for Switch on Halloween, do I now find such a creepy 16 Bit horror game... cozy now? I've played Clock Tower Rewind before going to bed and I didn't get any nightmares... unless I got Ending H. Maybe I've changed or my taste in gaming changed. Or maybe cos Clock Tower is retro and I want to appreciate it before it disappears. If you know what I mean. Or maybe I'm old enough to play games I used to find scary... but still depends on my taste in horror games. I also like Silent Hill 1 and Resident Evil 2 on PS1.

That is so true. My playlist with songs to fall asleep to largely consists of horror game soundtracks - there's something so cozy and beautiful about them. Take for example Back Hall from Amnesia: The Dark Descent or even the eerie Fountain Room from Amnesia Rebirth... not to mention the iconic RE save room music (with my favorite being RE4R and RE2's). Long live horror games for helping us find comfort in discomfort!

Not a horror game, but I find playing Arkham Asylum, wandering the abandoned halls of a psych ward investigating horrible crimes oddly soothing and meditative... Just the solitude of it I guess...

Replaying horror games is such a no-go for me. It's like learning how a magic trick works, the magic simply disappears. I want the scares and spookiness to be preserved, and replaying it fundamentally changes the way I see the game to the point where it retrospectively removes the feelings I had in the first playthrough. Also horror games kinda lose alot of replay value after the first playthrough unless you really enjoy the gameplay loop.

Didnt even watch yet but I agree 100% with the premise. I feel so cozy playing games like F&H, resident evil, faith etc. Same feelings stays when you watch lore videos about "uncovering the secrets of analog horrors". There is something so fun about the mystery of them?

I agree! I actually feel similar about horror movies as well (especially the beginning of those films, where the characters are first getting to the cabin/going on their trip etc etc. But sometimes they remain cozy throughout the film as well!) Silent Hill games are top tier cozy

For me certain horror games feel cozy like the RE games are peak cozy imo. But Outlast I never found cozy, I think because the environment wasn't as pretty, there's no interesting music and so I never really felt those moments of downtime as deeply.

This video itself is cozy. Great topic and execution. Mastering resident evil games is always really fun, I go from being cautiously curious about everything to just turning my brain off and doing the speedrun challenges every time and it's so fun. Weirdly the first game in the series that made me "get it" was RE7.

Honestly games like Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, & 4 are really good to fall asleep too. They are very cozy to watch so its nice to see that I am not the only person who shares the sentiment. That being said Amnesia messed me up when i was younger lol, the atmosphere in that game still fills me with dread.

I played this as a kid! Very surprised to find a video about Coraline DS of all things in my recommended. I never got far into it though because this game absolutely terrfied child me, lol. I still have my original copy - I booted it up a few months ago to see if it still worked (it does!) and its about as creepy and atmospheric as I remember.
