I live 3.5 hours from Houston in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, dining room, living room, office, 2,000 sq. ft., brick, single-story, home with a full front & back yard, that I had built in 2004 for under $100,000. The mortgage is $700 per month. That apartment shouldn't be more than $500 a month, in a decent world.

Native houstian here. They got you sis. I have a 2/2 with a huge master walk in closet and another walk in closet in the 2nd bedroom outdoor storage with a full sized w/d new black appliances and fully remodeled for $1050. It was $840 2 yrs ago.

Pay $500 a week for that in Brisbane Australia with nothing included.. very cheap

$1200 for an older apartment? What side of town is this? I'm in the Eldridge area and pay $945 for my updated 2 bed, 2 bath with faux wood floors everywhere except the bedrooms. Modern granite countertops, large bathrooms and walk in closets, pools and fitness center

1200/1300 is low rent in Htown. In fact 1500 is low rent. Average modern new complex start at $1700 for 1bedroom 1bath...that's my business so I know.
