the thing is the security gate roof actually blew off during filming, they used an F18 as a stand in for the Darkstar so the only CGI in that scene is the Darkstar, they generally destroyed to set from just the F18's jetwash

In real life, the sheds roof didn’t move, but the light pole next to it fell into the shed lmao. - also the blow up / disintegration scene at the end is actually a Space X rocket taking off lmao.

How was he able to safely eject from that speed and survive without a scratch?
He wasn't wearing a typical flight suit and helmet.
If this were a real aircraft then cockpit would probably detach from the rest of the aircraft during an ejection. Otherwise the pilot would certainly be dead
Love how the commander just stands there in the shock wave like its nothing while the other guy hides behind the vehical and the roof nearly comes off the guard shack. How to test the engineering work's limits and about lose your career in one single move. People don't take kindly to losing billions of dollars in building and materials, even if you showed where the limits and weaknesses are.

Is it me or is this the only jet that starts up by itself. The Sr 71 needed 2 v8 engines at full rpm to start each engine.
21st century... but I think it must have auxiliary engines to start the propulsion of the scramjets
@@Rinue618 the Sr 71 has multi stage engines, that used adjustable inlest spike to control air speed intake to reduce airflow speed. It also has inlets on the sides that direct air from just behind the aerospace bypassing the entire engine and into the afterburner. Another thing the plane may have had to change fuel types because it ran on jp7 fuel at full afterburner at high altitude. The sr72 did its entire run on 1 fuel load.
This concept has an APU as Tom Cruise starts it before starting the engines
